Chapter 837: Chapter 490: Having Trouble Distinguishing Between the Big and Small Kings!_3
This day was exhausting.
If it weren’t for the energy circulating and metabolizing inside Sean Knight and the others, they probably would’ve fallen asleep by now.
Sean Knight didn’t intend to stand out. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.
In the middle of the night, he heard the guides and Elijah Hastings and others whispering in an argument, but Sean Knight didn’t interfere.
He could tell that the guides wanted Sean Knight to take a turn on the night watch, but they were rejected by Elijah and the rest.
It was a joke—earning several million a year and then keeping the boss on night watch would mean these bodyguards were truly useless.
The argument didn’t last long before it quieted down, and Cheryl never even woke up, just turned over and continued sleeping.
Haruda Tomoko, however, had not fallen asleep.
She too wanted to find a tent with a man inside, to crawl in and add a sense of security for herself.
At this point, concerns about face and chastity were nothing in the face of life and death!
Unfortunately, she had previously relied on her relationship with Dutt Rivera and had not shown a friendly face to anyone other than Sean Knight.
Those few guides didn’t give her the time of day.
Now, wanting to curry favor with someone else, she simply didn’t have a reason to.
Haruda Tomoko could only grit her teeth in the tent alone. She had made her bed, and now she had to lie in it.
Sometimes wild beasts would come by the jungle, but seeing that someone was on guard here, along with the fire, they all scattered.
The night watchmen weren’t sure if any large animals had come by since countless insects were making them miserable.
The guides had long been aware of this situation and had covered themselves with cloth, squatting motionless in front of the fire.
Elijah and the others had smeared themselves with antiscolic, sprinkled antiscolic powder around them, and from time to time, sprayed some insecticide to drive away the biting bugs.
It wasn’t until daybreak that the insects slowly dispersed.
When Cheryl woke up, Sean Knight had already left the tent and was washing up at the nearby little brook.
This little brook was about forty meters away from their campsite and had been discovered by Elijah and the others.
Though the stream water looked clear and transparent, Sean Knight dared not drink it, and just used it to wash.
When he finished washing up, Lincoln Harrington had already prepared the porridge on a portable stove and cut the pickled vegetables. The pies were heated as well, calling Sean over to eat.
Haruda Tomoko came out of her tent, seeing Sean and the others’ sumptuous spread, and felt envious.
"Come eat with us," Cheryl casually called out to Haruda Tomoko, "The food’s ready. It tastes quite good, you should be able to adapt."
Tomoko envied how Cheryl could mix so well with Elijah and others. She glanced at Sean Knight, returning, knowing it was because of this man.
Meanwhile, the guides gathered together, gnawing on pies.
If nothing went wrong, that’s what Haruda Tomoko would be eating as well.
But how could that possibly be as tasty as hot porridge and side dishes?
And was that luncheon meat, too?
"We won’t bother you," said Elijah to the guides, "I don’t know what your beliefs are or what you can’t eat, so... "
"All right," the lead guide nodded in understanding.
Ultimately, Tomoko couldn’t resist the temptation of delicious food and approached Sean and the others, took the bowl that Lincoln handed her, and started eating with them.
"Delicious! Thank you all!" Haruda Tomoko sincerely said.
After the meal, Haruda Tomoko and everyone washed the dishes together, and after everything was tidied up, the Guide could hardly wait to say:
"Now let’s all enter the Ruin Site, and if anyone finds anything, shout it out loud."
"I’ll stay to watch the stuff," Lincoln Harrington said, which had been agreed upon earlier.
The Guide looked at the packages and the tents that had not yet been taken down, without a word.
He knew very well that whether he agreed or not, these people would leave someone to watch over their belongings.
During the daytime, the Ruin Site looked very ordinary.
Broken walls, hardly any intact buildings, fallen statues, weathered architecture, and Stone Bricks had already crumbled into dust.
It was only the occasional sight of a massive fragment of a statue that one could imagine the former grandeur of this entire set of buildings.
But under the formidable force of nature, there wasn’t the slightest resistance.
Haruda Tomoko held a metal detector, looking here and there among the crowd, and occasionally when the Detector made a sound, she would immediately squat down and start digging with a small shovel.
The guides were quite willing to cooperate with her actions.
Sean Knight grew impatient. Was the information obtained by Haruda Tomoko to just randomly hunt for treasure?
Didn’t she have a specific concept?
If it indeed was treasure buried by the Japanese Army, one had to consider the burial site, conditions, and potential locations.
To search so aimlessly, wouldn’t that take forever?
So he paid no attention to Haruda Tomoko, and instead, together with Cheryl Suweton, quickly passed the area they walked through yesterday and continued on ahead.
The deeper they went, the more shrubbery and vines there were, but the buildings were relatively more intact.
At least the remaining walls were taller, and the bases of statues were discernible.
However, scanning the area with Sky Eye, Sean Knight knew that these places had been looted countless times, and what was left was hardly Worth money.
For example, the Emerald eyes of the statue found last night were likely covered by green vines, otherwise, they would surely have been picked out long ago.
Now in this part of the Ruin Site, one occasionally found scattered Underground metal ornaments, Rough Gemstones, and metal coins.
But the quantities were not great, and Sean Knight saw some that were buried deep, so he didn’t dig.
Elijah Hastings and Douglas Cooper seemed interested, so he pointed out the locations to them.
These two acted quickly, and soon dug out some Harvest.
This made Haruda Tomoko, who had caught up later, very envious—although she found targets with the help of the metal detector, upon digging them up, she found they were just Metal Plate fragments, broken copper pieces, and the like, nearly devoid of any value.
Sean Knight and his group quietly found precious metals, which were obviously valuable at first glance, so naturally, she was envious.
Those few guides didn’t say much either, presumably knowing that such a small Harvest wouldn’t interest their master.
Haruda Tomoko then thought about whether to hurry ahead, perhaps she might find something.
She walked swiftly ahead, and the Guides followed.
Sean Knight looked up and suddenly his expression changed greatly, he promptly cautioned:
"Be careful!"
