Chapter 831: Chapter 488: Really Not a Good Bird!_3
Sean Knight thought to himself that he could actually be considered an upstart too.
"...but you’re different, we’re in the same line of business, sharing the same ideals, right? Plus, you’ve got such a big Island and you’re working on tourism, which already shows great potential for development.
You’ve even got a few airplanes now, which puts you far ahead of the ordinary Noble. What’s most important is your character..."
Cheryl Suweton started off joking, but as she spoke, she became serious:
"Your ability to bring back cultural relics from other countries to your own, and then present them in Museums or universities for everyone to visit and learn from, this alone sets you apart from many others!
Anyone who holds their country and nation in their heart will not have a bad character."
Cheryl touched Sean Knight’s chest gently and said:
"My father, along with some of my elders, always praise you when they talk about you in this regard. They say your actions are worth learning from for people like us."
Sean was rather surprised, but upon reflection, it seemed normal.
Traitors have always existed, even during invasions by Other_race, these people were useful, including during the Qing Dynasty, which used so many surrendered Han officials?
But that didn’t prevent them from specifically compiling a "Biographies of Disloyal Officials" about these people!
They used you but despised you all the same!
Even a bad person, when teaching their own Child, hopes that the child becomes a good person!
Looking at Cheryl’s satisfied and proud face, Sean decided not to say anything more.
Anyway, it was a messy account.
In the distance, Elijah Hastings looked at Sean and Cheryl, who remained in an intimate pose, with a somewhat disappointed expression.
And from another direction, HarudaTomoko watched them, then glanced over at Elijah, and her expression turned a bit sour.
The second day, Breakfast was served in their respective Rooms by maid-servants.
After eating, several people were invited to the living room, where Dutt Rivera said:
"Yesterday was a bit rushed; today I’d like to invite everyone to visit some scenic places near my home. It’s my way of showing hospitality as a landlord."
Since the host had arrangements, Sean and the others didn’t refuse, mainly because HarudaTomoko didn’t object, so they listened to their employer.
To Sean’s surprise, instead of traveling by car, they went forward on some sort of pole-carrying contraption carried by two people.
The contraption was lined with soft fur mats. Sean wasn’t sure what kind of animal the fur came from, but it was not only not hot but also very cool.
The men carrying the poles were not tall, but they seemed sturdy, so Sean and the others, following local customs, sat down on it as well.
Elijah and a few others felt awkward; having been soldiers, it was uncomfortable for them to sit while others carried them.
But seeing Sean’s composure and the bearers’ normal expressions, they too got on board.
Initially thinking the pole ride wouldn’t take them far, they were surprised to find it lasted nearly an hour before they arrived at a River Bay.
However, the scenery was indeed beautiful.
There was a river, a Waterfall, lots of big trees, and a Vacant Land with short grass.
Birds occasionally flew by the riverbank, and the Waterfall, not like the continuous flow of Niagara, fell from a high place, appearing and disappearing, with a volume that wasn’t too great but from a distance, it looked like a white silk ribbon.
A poet’s delight.
Tents had been set up, big umbrellas erected, mats laid out, and Delicious food arranged.
Someone was dedicated to chasing away the flying bugs, and some insect repellent must have been used around the area, as there was a faint medicinal scent.
"Come, please sit," Dutt enthusiastically beckoned, "Welcome to my Hometown, your presence is our honor!
Come, everyone sit down; be at ease. Once acquainted, we’re friends, and we’re very hospitable. Friends are like family to us!"
Dutt was extremely welcoming. Sean guessed he might have found out Cheryl’s true Identity, so his gaze kept falling on her.
This made HarudaTomoko feel slightly jealous.
But the picnic atmosphere was indeed great, not only with food but also fishing rods provided by Dutt for fishing.
Sean remembered seeing that there were quite a few of the big catfish around, the kind that measured one to two meters and weighed several hundred kilograms.
However, scanning the river, Sean’s Sky Eye didn’t detect any such fish but rather many little ones resembling loach and not much longer than a finger.
He also saw fish that seemed similar to flounder, which he didn’t understand.
He didn’t go fishing, as Cheryl, taken by the beautiful scenery, was pulling him around to take photos everywhere.
HarudaTomoko, on the other hand, stayed by Dutt’s side, chatting.
With Dutt looking uninterested, it was unclear whether it was because HarudaTomoko had bragged earlier or because Dutt was no longer interested in this Beautiful Girl from Japan.
At any rate, Sean could sense that HarudaTomoko was being very proactive, but it seemed ineffectual.
At first, he was worried that Dutt might develop some animosity towards him because of Cheryl, but so far that didn’t seem to be the case.
Of course, Sean couldn’t afford to be complacent, after all, they were on someone else’s domain, and who knew what could happen?
The next few days turned out to be unexpectedly routine.
Dutt either took Sean and the group out for trips or held parties at the Manor, inviting nearby guests to mingle with them.
Life was fulfilling and the cuisine excellent, with no shortage of noble men and beautiful women, but no progress was made concerning their actual purpose.
Even the most Delicious food becomes tiresome if eaten too much. Seeing as one week passed by without accomplishing anything, not only Sean but Cheryl herself became anxious.
She went directly to HarudaTomoko to talk about the situation.
"I am also anxious. Maybe we should go to Dutt together and discuss this matter." HarudaTomoko looked worried too, which made Cheryl feel less inclined to be upset.
They went together to see Dutt.
Upon hearing their intent, Dutt’s expression grew somewhat displeased.
