Road to becoming the wealthiest: Starting From Treasure Hunting in the Cabinets -
Chapter 82: Following a Pattern
Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Following a Pattern
Once they left the courtyard, Jason dared to ask Sean Knight:
"Boss, how did you know there was treasure there?"
Sean lectured him:
"When hiding something, you usually pick a more noticeable location, right?"
Jason nodded.
"Look at those trees in the courtyard, the age of the five big trees in front exceeds sixty or seventy years, right?"
"Yes." Jason thought about those big trees that took two or three people to embrace together, nodded, and agreed that Sean’s explanation was reasonable.
"Only such big trees could be the target of Mr. Joseph hiding the treasure. Those newly planted saplings could never be the target."
"That’s why I chose the middle one of the five trees. I figured if I were the one hiding the treasure, if it wasn’t inside the building, then it would be hidden in a conspicuous place. And that big tree in the middle was my choice!"
After Sean finished speaking, admiration appeared on Jason’s face:
"Boss, you are truly a natural-born treasure hunter! I never even thought about any of this!"
Sean laughed. It’s easy to deduce the cause from the result!
Jason looked around and said:
"Boss, now that we have got the treasure, shall we leave quickly?"
"Leave?" Sean smiled, waving the notebook in his hand and said:
"It’s impossible to leave. How could the treasure be just this little?"
The notebook in his hand was written by Joseph, and although it seemed to be a diary on the surface, Sean believed it contained information about hidden treasure!
Of course, that was what Sean thought.
The contents of the diary started with Joseph’s arrival in Southeast Asia, continuing through his time in Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Later, due to his injuries in the war and the spoils he had acquired on the battlefield, he decided to return home.
These spoils included gold, jadeite, jewelry, and antiques, but Joseph didn’t take the antiques and exchanged them for gold with the locals.
In the diary, Joseph also mentioned a fellow countryman who had fought on the battlefields of Europe.
After his comrade returned to New York, he bumped into a Nazi who had been sentenced to hanging!
Of course, Joseph wrote about this incident as a joke in his diary. He said the man who was suspected of being a Nazi was actually a mine owner and had a manor and villa in New York, belonging to a wealthy but low-profile man.
The diary described the location of the mining area and the manor and villa of the mine owner.
It was also laughable that his comrade believed the mine owner’s identity was fake and that it was a cover-up.
Sean glanced over these parts of the diary quickly.
Later on, Joseph hinted in his diary that the spoils he brought home attracted the envy of others, so he decided to hide them first and take them out when the winds settled down.
At the same time, he mocked his comrade for not keeping a low profile, and as a result, he was robbed while drunk, losing all the wealth he had brought back from Europe.
As Sean continued reading, he soon found another passage by Joseph:
"I hid the things well. To remember it more deeply, let’s draw a map."
Sean flipped through the pages immediately, only to find a very abstract pencil drawing on the last page of the diary.
It was just a simple set of lines, circles, and small squares.
Looking around, Sean had no idea what the drawing meant.
He thought about the decades of change that had occurred, and it would be strange if the manor had remained unchanged.
Sean and Jason began walking around and "measuring" the manor.
Just as a group of treasure hunters cursed and prepared to leave:
"There are no treasures here at all! Swindlers, they are all swindlers!"
Sean looked at them curiously and noticed that they were holding metal detectors in their hands.
He thought he should get himself a set of these things, at least they would make him look more professional when bluffing.
Seeing Sean and Jason’s combination, the tall white man holding a metal detector hesitated for a moment, then laughed:
"Is the threshold for treasure hunters so low nowadays? There are all kinds of people who are crazy for money, even coming to hunt for treasure without any equipment. Do they really think treasures are easy to find?"
Jason wanted to get angry, but Sean stopped him and ignored the white man, continuing to observe the features and layout of the manor.
Seeing Sean not talking back, the white man thought he was timid and afraid, and spoke loudly:
"Yellow-skinned monkeys are all cowards!"
Sean glared at him, but he just smirked:
"What’s wrong? I’m talking about you! What are you looking at? Come and hit me if you dare ..."
He raised the metal detector rod to poke Sean.
Jason stepped forward to help, but Sean’s movement was faster, blocking the metal rod with one hand and slapping the white man’s face with the back of the other hand!
"Slap!"
Five red and swollen marks appeared on the white man’s face!
He covered his face, looking at Sean in disbelief, with a full expression: You dare to hit me?
Not only did he not react, but even his two companions didn’t react!
Sean stared at his face and said word by word:
"Remember! It’s the Chinese who hit you! Don’t call me a yellow-skinned monkey in front of me! Or I’ll hit you until even your mom can’t recognize you!"
After saying that, he didn’t care about the white man anymore and continued to observe the terrain with Jason.
The white man reacted, roared angrily, and rushed over to hit Sean, but Sean turned around and gave him a side kick, sending him rolling on the ground, clutching his stomach and screaming in pain.
Sean glanced at him with contempt and turned away.
Even the white man’s two companions didn’t dare to stop him!
Although Jason had seen Sean fight more than once, he was still thrilled:
"Boss, your Kung Fu is amazing!"
Sean just smiled and did not take the matter to heart, continuing to compare the manor’s terrain with the "map" in his mind.
Finally, the outline in Sean’s mind and the actual terrain slowly overlapped.
There were four points on the "map", one of which was at the main building, and the other three points scattered irregularly.
Sean went to the closest point first.
It was next to a canal.
This canal was the main ditch for irrigating the entire manor’s farmland, with the water being drawn from a small river outside the manor.
There were three branch canals in the manor, each irrigating three different regions’ farmland.
The first point Sean chose was at the location of the first canal branch, where there was a concrete sluice gate.
Arriving at the location, Sean activated the Sky Eye to take a closer look.
Indeed, in the slightly northern position of the concrete sluice gate base, a small box was hidden.
In the small box, four pieces of gold and two irregularly cut pieces of jadeite were neatly placed.
He guessed that because of the sluice gate itself having reinforcing steel components, even if someone scanned with a metal detector, no one would suspect anything.
The quality of those two pieces of jadeite was very good - icy species, positive green.
Sean subconsciously approached them and then touched his head to the concrete base...
