Chapter 796: Chapter 476: This decision is quite unexpected! The loss is not insignificant!
The car stopped at the entrance of a five-star hotel, where Howard Richardson arranged for Sean Knight and the others to check into their reserved rooms. He said:
"Later, I’ll take you all to dinner, and after dinner, we’ll take Monica to meet her aunt."
Upon hearing this, Monica was extremely excited.
Everyone went into their own rooms to change clothes and freshen up.
Although the flight wasn’t very long, they had just returned from another country, and the sense of safety and loyalty they felt in their own homeland was incomparable.
Thus, except for the anxious Monica, everyone else, including the go-with-the-flow Christina, washed up well and changed their clothes.
When Howard saw everyone again, he noticed that they had not only changed their clothes and taken baths, but also shaved, and their spirits were clearly different.
"Let’s go. I’ll treat you to some local cuisine."
During dinner, Howard sat next to Sean and asked:
"So, what treasures have you picked up on this trip?"
"We got some of our cultural relics back from the Japanese soldier."
"Oh, that’s not bad!" Upon hearing this, Howard became even more interested. He always knew that Sean could find bargains, and he suspected that this time would be no different.
He then asked:
"Have you thought about how to sell them? As long as they’re good stuff, my Uncle Melvin Richardson will definitely be interested in buying!"
"I’m not planning to sell them," Sean said casually as he ate. "I’m going to donate them to our provincial museum. After all, they’re our ancestors’ relics, and it would be better for more people to see them."
"Donate them?" Howard was somewhat surprised. "Those things are worth a lot of money, right? And you must have spent quite a bit to get them back, right?"
"Yeah, they are worth quite a bit." Sean thought about the Iron Cross, and if its energy value were not taken into account, its worth would be around the same as one cultural relic.
Taking the energy into account— if the matter of the energy was to be made public, its value would probably be negative.
Kannda Kouu was bound to explode.
This was within Sean’s expectations. Even if he didn’t act recklessly and increase the absorption volume, in just one month, Kannda would still explode.
That kind of energy was not something an ordinary person could handle.
It just so happened that in Sean’s hands, because of the Sky Eye’s ability to convert energy, no accidents would happen.
But for anyone else, accidents were bound to happen— including Elijah Hastings and the others.
Sean never intended to let the Japanese soldier get off easy— after all, it’s the son who pays for the father’s debts.
Besides, Kannda Kouu wasn’t exactly a good person either.
So when he said this, Howard felt like Sean was losing out and immediately tried to persuade him:
"You can’t do that, can you? How many cultural relics are there?"
"Over a hundred."
"That’s got to be worth over a hundred million, right? Are you really going to donate them, even though you have that much money to burn?"
"Yes." Sean nodded his head. "What’s enough money? I think I have enough money now. These things need to be seen, known, and remembered by more people. The effect of donating them would be much greater."
"Why not set up a private museum? That’d give you some prestige, wouldn’t it?"
"I can’t manage it," Sean waved his hand. "I’m most afraid of trouble. There’s nothing worse than a thief’s lingering gaze. If I were to hire someone, it would be troublesome. Better to just donate it and let others worry about it."
"Aren’t you afraid that someone might steal it away from you?" Howard still couldn’t let it go, feeling a sense of injustice for Sean.
Of course, Sean himself didn’t mind.
"It’s not like it was a decade ago. Museums are now places many people like to visit and check-in on social media. They are much more transparent than before. With the public’s supervision, what do I have to worry about?"
"Since you’ve decided, I won’t say anything more." Howard said with regret, feeling sorry for his Uncle Melvin Richardson.
With his understanding of Sean, he knew that Sean wouldn’t take out any ordinary items; he would either sell them or keep them.
To be willing to donate them, there must be at least national treasures involved.
If Uncle Melvin saw them, he would definitely buy them.
But now, there was no such chance.
Since the matter was settled, they didn’t discuss it further. Howard asked Sean about the Big Island situation.
Sean went over the basics.
"Does it really make you want to go there?" Howard opened his mouth wide. "You’re so amazing, now should I call you Old Sean, or the Island Master?"
"Cut it out," Sean slapped him. "Okay, if you want to go, once we’re done with Monica’s business here, we’ll fly over. You can come with us, and by the way, ask your Uncle Melvin Richardson if he would like to come too."
The construction on the Big Island was relatively complete, and Sean thought that hosting friends there would be quite nice. After all, it was his own domain, large enough and mostly safe.
Besides, he had his own plane. Taking a few people over to the Big Island for some fun was really no big deal.
It was just the cost of fuel, and with his current net worth, what could that really amount to?
"That’s settled then. I’m definitely going to check it out!"
Howard was full of curiosity about the Big Island.
The dinner was quite enjoyable, with the only exception being that Monica didn’t eat much.
Christina comforted her in a low voice:
"Monica, there’s no need for you to worry. Your aunt will definitely accept you. Besides, you have a good relationship with Mr. Knight and Mr. Hastings. In case... I mean, just in case your Aunt’s family is a bit difficult, Sean won’t let you suffer."
With that, Monica felt a little more at peace.
She looked up at Sean.
