Chapter 760: Chapter 463: The Ancestral Temple is Indeed Not Simple! _2
Even though Sean Knight didn’t understand Japanese, he could tell the teenagers were not saying anything pleasant.
The waiter was originally going to apologize to them for his rudeness, but after being reprimanded by the teens, he couldn’t even get a word out and just kept bowing in embarrassment.
Unable to stand by and watch, Vicky Wilson loudly scolded the boys. Judging by her tone and how she pointed at the waiter, it seemed she wanted the boys to apologize to him.
But how could those teens lower their pride? Dismayed by Vicky’s words, they surrounded her with bad intentions.
Just then, a middle-aged man emerged from the kitchen upon hearing the commotion.
The teenagers reacted quickly. One of them addressed the man in a loud voice, pointing at the waiter, probably accusing the innocent before getting accused.
The middle-aged man bowed repeatedly. After hearing the teenagers out, he turned around and scolded the waiter.
Vicky stepped forward to explain, but it was pretty much in vain.
The waiter simply nodded and agreed, bowed to the teenagers and retreated into the kitchen.
"Annoying! The boss doesn’t even care whether it’s right or wrong. He just blames it all on the waiter."
Feeling guilty for failing to help, Vicky grumbled to Sean and Elijah Hastings.
"I’m sorry, we don’t speak Japanese and couldn’t help you."
Elijah’s casual remarks ended up impressing Vicky who then said:
"Thank you both. Otherwise, a brawl might have broken out and the waiter would have had to compensate for it. The social hierarchy here in Japan is strict. If the waiter had fought back, the consequences would likely have been severe. Besides, getting a job is difficult for them. By the way, you two have some good skills!"
"We’re young. Quick reflexes are expected." Elijah replied when Sean Knight did not react.
Vicky prepared the chopsticks for the three of them, and then they began to eat.
"I’m going to start eating now."
Hearing this phrase which sounded like it came straight out of an animated cartoon, Sean couldn’t help but grimace. She was deeply influenced by Japanese culture.
He noticed the teenagers, sitting on the side and ordering food, pointing at them and discussing.
Sean had a bad feeling about this, but he thought it might not be so bad.
He didn’t intervene before because he felt that it was a Japanese matter and none of his business.
However, if those teenagers were really looking for trouble, he wouldn’t hold himself back.
The taste of the noodles wasn’t extraordinary but felt like home, so he ate them up. Sean, not a picky eater at all, gulped down the noodles, wiped his mouth, and started drinking water while observing the surroundings.
At this time, the waiter brought the food ordered by the teenagers.
They were laughing and joking around, and one of them grabbed the waiter’s sleeve, said something, and the waiter repeatedly bowed, pleading for something and struggling to leave.
Perhaps because they were surrounded by people, or maybe they were just all talk and no action, the teenagers didn’t do anything excessive.
Vicky glanced at them with a frown, but in the end, she didn’t say anything. She hastily finished her meal, paid the bill, and the three left the restaurant and got into the car.
Sean originally thought that the teenagers would make a scene, but it turned out that only one of them came to the entrance to watch them leave, not taking any action.
This behavior made Sean wonder.
Could it be that these teenagers were just playing a prank?
He found it hard to believe that.
On the car ride out of town, Vicky drove and said:
"Few kilometers along this road, we get into the mountains. Although the mountains here are not high, they cover a wide area.
The familial shrine of the Tanaka you’re looking for is in the mountains. The scenery there is quite beautiful. As you can see, the road is in good condition and there’s rarely any traffic."
Sean Knight nodded. The environment was indeed right. With fewer people around, there was less chance of being noticed if they had to retrieve something from the shrine.
They drove a dozen kilometers into the mountains. As Vicky had said, they hardly saw any cars, but they did see some wild chickens and rabbits darting around.
Driving further along, they could see a house around the bend.
"We will get there soon. Once we’re done, you should have enough time to head back. By nightfall, we should be back in Kumamoto County."
Vicky Wilson had a clear and time-saving plan.
The money Sean and Elijah gave her for this trip was no small amount. If she could get it done in a day, she would get half a month’s wages in a day’s worth of work.
It seemed that the domestic folks were quite wealthy.
Sean and Elijah exchanged a glance. They understood that they need to ensure that this did not conclude in one day.
The projected one-day plan wouldn’t work. They needed two days to finish their task. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be enough time to handle their business. Then this trip would be a wasted effort!
But it was easy to fix. They could just malfunction the car or something. Simple as that.
As the car turned a bend, they found themselves in a big valley.
In the valley, there was a village in an area relatively flat. Just behind it, there were fields with a few farmers at work.
Although Japan was advanced, not all the land was suitable for mechanized farming.
Looking into the village, Sean quickly spotted a temple in the southeast corner.
