Chapter 709: Chapter 445: Thrilling Journey!_3
Christopher Hughes couldn’t stop them, so he and Zhao had to retreat behind the car immediately.
They lay by the car, watching Sean Knight and the others fearlessly approach the black people, their hearts filled with mixed feelings.
Zhao, unable to take his eyes off Lincoln Harrington and the others, grumbled with jealousy:
"What’s so great about them? They’re just soldiers! A bunch of martial men..."
"Shut up!" Christopher Hughes snapped at him, giving him a stern look. In fact, if it hadn’t been for the many people in the convoy to take care of, he would have wanted to be as tough as Sean Knight and the others — who would like to be bullied?
He had only turned his head for a moment when the noise broke out!
A gunshot rang out!
However, it only sounded briefly. By the time Christopher Hughes turned back, there were only three people standing in front of the blockade: Sean Knight and his friends.
Each of them was holding a pistol, pointing at the black people who had been knocked down.
Money was floating in the air.
Only Marilyn Reynolds saw the whole process.
Sean Knight and the others walked over to the black people, waved some money, and as one of the black men reached out to grab it, Sean suddenly scattered the bills!
As the black men who were behind the blockade saw the US dollars flying all over, they immediately got excited and rushed to grab them!
It was at this moment that Sean Knight and his friends made their move!
Sean punched the nearest black man to the ground, while Elijah Hastings immediately charged towards the approaching black men!
Lincoln Harrington, the farthest away yet seemingly the fastest, plunged into the crowd first, took out a pistol at some point, and knocked one down!
The slowest black man saw that something was wrong, raised his gun to shoot, but was hit in the arm by Sean Knight, who had pulled out his gun. The gun in his hand fell to the ground.
After Sean Knight’s gunshot, the remaining five were overturned!
Elijah Hastings and Lincoln Harrington kicked the old guns to one side, then herded the six people together and made them hold their heads with both hands.
Lincoln Harrington searched each of them and found that they no longer had any weapons, but they did have quite a bit of money in various denominations, whether it was stolen or used as "passage fees".
Christopher Hughes breathed a sigh of relief and whispered to Zhao:
"See that? Stop talking nonsense, or else..."
He didn’t go on, but it was good to scare the young man a bit. After all, Zhao was a bit arrogant, knowing that he was a relative of the leader.
Marilyn Reynolds had already run over.
"Marilyn, ask them what they do." Lincoln Harrington pointed his gun at the black man, only to find that they knew only a few simple English phrases and blurted out their local language in a hurry.
So Marilyn began her "interrogation".
In no time, she was done.
"They’re a gang of nearby robbers who specialize in robbing foreign convoys," Marilyn said indignantly. "There’s a war in the neighboring country recently, so they think their chance to make a fortune has come and set up a roadblock here to make money."
Elijah Hastings came around from the mountain pass:
"Over there, behind the mountain, several cars are parked, and many people have been shot and killed. The women... have been stripped of their clothes."
Elijah spoke indifferently, but could not hide the murderous look in his eyes.
"What?" Christopher Hughes didn’t expect these people to be so brutal!
"You can go and see for yourself." Sean Knight could imagine their cruelty. In order to do the next step, he had to make it clear that the road ahead was not safe.
As Christopher Hughes and the others couldn’t quite believe it, they marched around the mountain pass and came back with pale faces.
Zhao took a few steps, then retched.
"Elijah, see if there are any better cars around to replace Manager Thompson’s broken one. We can’t stay here long, and we must pass through as soon as possible!"
Christopher Hughes didn’t say a word, staring blankly at the black men.
He could imagine what the outcome would have been if he hadn’t had Sean Knight and the others with him.
There were guns in the convoy, but only two small pistols. He didn’t think they could fight these six black people.
The six black men didn’t speak either and squatted there, clutching their heads obediently with resignation.
Elijah quickly found an off-road vehicle and drove it over.
The wooden stakes blocking the road had been thrown to one side, and the convoy slowly drove through the mountain pass.
"Manager Thompson, you go ahead." Sean Knight said to Christopher Hughes in front.
"No, we’ll wait for you." This time Christopher Hughes spoke very firmly.
"The things we have to do... you’re not really suited to see..."
"We’re not afraid!" Christopher Hughes said seriously, "We’re not the Holy Mother. We know that without you, we would probably suffer the same fate as those people behind the mountain!"
Sean Knight’s attitude toward Christopher Hughes changed for the better.
That’s right, at least he was still spirited.
"Let’s go and take care of these guys and leave as soon as possible." Sean Knight turned to Elijah Hastings and Douglas Cooper.
"Bang!" Before they could even get there, Lincoln Harrington had already fired a shot.
By the time Sean Knight and the others arrived, one black man had fallen to the ground, shot in the back of the head.
"He was trying to run," Lincoln explained.
"Let them carry this one, and we’ll go behind the mountain."
Without a translator, Lincoln gestured and the remaining black men cooperated very well.
When they reached the other side of the mountain and saw the scattered bodies, Sean Knight’s anger grew even more.
"Get to work!" Sean commanded, pulling out his pistol first.
Against these criminals, Sean had no psychological burden when opening fire.
When they were finished, they piled the bodies together, emptied the remaining cars, poured gasoline on them, set them on fire, and left.
As Christopher Hughes watched Sean Knight and the others return, he nodded, went back to his own car, and the convoy set off.
Because of the delay, the convoy hadn’t reached the village by nightfall.
However, Christopher Hughes decided to continue traveling in the dark.
It was not peaceful here. Even if they drove slowly, they had to leave the area.
Who can guarantee that those people had no backup plan?
By midnight, they finally saw the outline of the village.
Christopher Hughes didn’t let the cars drive into the village but stopped on the outskirts.
He got out of his vehicle and specifically came to ask Sean Knight for his opinion:
"Sean, do you think it’s safe for us to rest just outside the village? I think there should be no more bandits coming, right?"
Showing such sincerity, Sean nodded and said:
"No problem. We will stand guard."
"We will stand guard too," Christopher Hughes immediately said.
"Don’t bother. The few of us are enough. You... aren’t as professional as we are." Sean didn’t say he looked down on them, even though that’s actually the case.
But telling the truth could hurt.
