Chapter 611: Chapter 401: A Fierce One Right From The Start!
Finally arriving at their destination, even though it was late, Sean Knight eagerly put on his diving gear and went for a dive.
The seawater here was indeed much deeper than at Big Island, and the water quality was also relatively murkier.
Considering that a certain country was about to release radioactive materials into the sea, Sean felt this place was not very safe.
Diving to the bottom, he found it was not as barren as he had imagined, and there were many underwater creatures, just that the visibility was low because it was deeper than at Big Island, making it feel slightly gloomy.
After making a round and not finding the sunken ship, Sean surfaced.
In fact, he had seen some seafood, and they were quite large, but he did not dare to catch them.
Slowly surfacing to the sea surface, Sean looked around and swam back to the yacht.
Douglas Cooper immediately helped Sean up onto the deck.
"Is Elijah back yet?"
"Not yet," Douglas said. "The water is quite deep, so he might still be exploring."
Sean took off his diving gear, wiped his body, and said:
"The water is indeed deep and cold. If someone had claustrophobia, they probably wouldn’t dare to go down."
"Did the boss find anything?" Douglas asked as he rearranged the diving gear.
"No, the distance is too far." From here, looking east, some islands could faintly be seen.
At present, it was no longer considered part of China, nor as its satellite state.
Sean withdrew his gaze, then looked in another direction.
Over there, a motorboat roared towards them from a distance, then slowed down.
From a distance, Sean could see someone on the motorboat looking towards them.
There was no national flag on the ship, so it was unclear which country it belonged to.
Sean withdrew his gaze, as the boat was seven to eight hundred meters away and did not require attention.
After waiting on the deck for a while, Elijah surfaced about thirty meters from the yacht.
"I got a big one!" Elijah lifted a large crab up high. "This thing is pretty fierce!"
When he swam to the side of the deck, Sean took the net pocket with the crab, and Douglas helped him up, asking:
"It’s so close to Japan, do you dare to eat it?"
Elijah slapped his forehead:
"How could I forget that? Throw it away... We don’t want mutations. I was wondering why it was so big!"
Elijah took the net pocket back, walked to the side of the deck, and poured the crab into the sea.
The crab waved its claws above the surface of the sea and then swam away.
"That’s enough for today." With the sun completely sinking below the horizon and the sky darkening, Sean said: "Arrange for night watch shifts, and pay attention to the weather."
Everyone was used to doing this at Big Island, so they took it as a matter of course.
Douglas and Lincoln Harrington, who did not go diving, cooked a sumptuous dinner.
They were all young and didn’t care much about health preservation. Moreover, they were tired from diving. Sean ate the most and finally slumped in his chair, rubbing his belly, not wanting to move.
After dinner, the sky was completely dark.
Being on the vast sea made them feel exceptionally small. It was at this time that they could truly appreciate the vastness of the sea.
A light was turned on the yacht, while others went to rest. Only Douglas sat in the driver’s cockpit, watching the radar screen.
Occasionally some boats passed by in the distance, but they didn’t approach.
At midnight, it was time for Douglas’ night shift.
"Everything was fine in the first half of the night. Some boats passed by but none of them stopped. Have some spare time to check the radar frequently and use the night vision device to monitor the surroundings."
Having given the reminder, Elijah went to sleep.
During his previous night watch shifts, Douglas would usually be more relaxed, watching videos and reading novels. Multitasking.
However, this time he was very serious, his eyes hardly leaving the radar screen. As soon as he noticed a target moving across the screen, he would immediately go and observe it, to determine what it was.
Halfway through his shift, Douglas clearly remembered that six ships had passed by. Five were cargo ships, possibly delivering supplies to Japan.
One was a fishing boat, its fishing nets spread out behind it. He didn’t know if it was chasing a school of fish.
After focusing for a long time, Douglas felt fatigued. He stood up, stretched a lazy waist, and planned to move around.
It was the darkest time of the day.
Although it was not pitch black, it felt like he could not see anything beyond ten meters.
Only the sound of the waves hitting the ship’s hull could be heard.
Just then, a bright spot suddenly appeared on the radar screen. Instead of crossing the screen like the other points, it rushed straight towards their yacht!
Douglas glanced down at the screen and immediately spotted the situation. He quickly grabbed the night vision device and went out onto the deck to look in the direction of the bright spot.
It was a motorboat, two or three times the size of the yacht, and it was headed straight for them!
It was fast and its engine was quiet, giving off a somewhat eerie feeling.
Douglas immediately ran into the yacht and shouted:
"There’s a situation, everyone get up!"
With their heightened senses, the other three quickly got up and went to the deck.
"That boat is suspicious!" Elijah determined. "We must be prepared!"
"Alright!" Lincoln responded and headed for the driver’s cockpit.
He planned to start the yacht, pull up the anchor, and get ready to evade.
