Chapter 603: Chapter 397: What Broken Rules?_2
"Alright, you guys stay here to greet; I’m going in first."
Sean Knight walked in, and Isla Hastings whispered:
"Honey, is this your boss? He looks younger than you."
"He is younger than me." Elijah Hastings said, "Our boss is something, don’t underestimate him because he’s young..."
"I know, I know... you’ve said it eight hundred times, how could I not know?"
As more guests arrived, the couple stopped talking and went to greet them.
Sean walked into the hotel and stopped at the place to give gifts.
Seeing that most of the guests’ gifts were two to three hundred, Sean knew not to give too much, so he handed over the prepared 1000, leaving his name.
There were about ten tables set up inside, not too many. Lincoln Harrington had sharp eyes, and as soon as Sean came in, he spotted him and immediately went to greet him.
"Boss, over here! Captain Hastings has already reserved a seat for you."
Sean followed him amiably and said:
"You’re playing the role of the best man and usher."
Lincoln replied, "Anyway, I’m free." He led Sean to the table nearest the stage.
As soon as Sean sat down, Douglas Cooper brought water, poured it for Sean, and said with a grin:
"Boss, when it’s my turn to get married, you have to come too!"
"Of course."
"Boss, tell me, what gift did you give Captain Hastings?"
"Want to know?"
"Of course!"
"Ha ha, it’s a secret!"
"Boss, you’re so unkind!"
"Alright, go and get busy."
After chasing the joking Douglas away, Sean began to look around while eating seeds.
It was a Chinese-style wedding, with a red main background decoration, and the host and wedding planner were discussing something.
More people were coming in, and several elders joined Sean at his table.
Sean was not used to this.
Later, Elijah’s parents also came to the table, and Sean realized they put him as the main guest.
However, he didn’t mind, as he deserved this position.
Elijah’s parents knew Sean’s background and greeted him warmly, which made him a little uncomfortable.
The wedding began, and following the ceremony, Elijah and Isla came out step by step, dressed in ancient auspicious clothing and wearing official’s hats. Sean wondered if he would have to do the same for his own wedding.
Although the ceremony was a bit complicated, it felt like a real wedding even just from watching!
After the ceremony ended, the bride and groom changed clothes, toasted the guests, and the banquet began.
An old man at the table looked at Sean, the only young person at the table, and was visibly displeased. He turned to Elijah’s father, John Hastings:
"Little Hua, why is there a young man at this table? Could it be a mistake? This is the head table..."
"No mistake, Uncle. No mistake." John laughed, saying:
"This is Elijah’s boss and our benefactor. Elijah has made a lot of money working with him, helping us pay off our debts, and even opened a factory..."
Although the uncle still looked displeased, he didn’t say anything else.
Others who heard this conversation looked at Sean with curiosity.
The Hastings family had originally fallen on hard times, but in less than a year, they had turned their fortune around, built a factory, and helped many former workers. Many people were grateful to them.
Now they knew that ultimately it was all because of this young man!
Sean remained calm, not affected by the special attention from others.
After the banquet ended, Sean was invited to visit Elijah’s new house.
"Are you going to have a house-warming party?" Sean asked curiously.
"Yes," Elijah said helplessly, "it’s a custom here; some cousins and the like want to make some noise and dispel bad luck."
Since it was the local custom, Sean didn’t say anything, but he was curious to see what it was like.
Elijah’s house was large, and soon men and women poured in.
Lincoln and Douglas were also there, but both had red faces. It was normal, though, since best men often had to drink on the groom’s behalf.
Fortunately, both had absorbed energy before, so their alcohol tolerance was not ordinary. They looked fine now.
Some of the others, however, seemed a bit tipsy, their steps were unsteady, and their faces were flush. Some of them were staring at the pretty bridesmaids unabashedly.
Sean noticed this and was a little displeased.
However, considering his own misbehaviors, he thought it best not to say anything.
As soon as Elijah and Isla arrived, the wedding games began.
These games supposedly targeted the bride and groom but were more of a group activity involving both men and women. Lately though, bridesmaids and groomsmen had been included as well.
Sean, having little interest in the festivities, decided to sit on the sidelines and watch while snacking on some seeds.
One of the attendees sat down next to him, grabbed a handful of seeds and began cracking them open, asking Sean:
"Pretty, huh?"
Not quite understanding, Sean turned to the man who gestured towards the second round-faced bridesmaid and whispered:
"I’m telling you, she’s the prettiest one. I’m going to have some fun with her later..."
A bad premonition immediately struck Sean - was this guy going to do something inappropriate?
He quickly warned:
"Just keep it fun and lively during the wedding games, don’t go overboard."
"Young man, what do you know? Wedding games are supposed to be fun like this! It’s a special occasion to have a good time with bridesmaids! Normally, we wouldn’t get this kind of opportunity! I can tell, you know... she’s still a virgin! My eyes are sharp!"
With that, the ordinary-looking man in his thirties, with lewd eyes, walked away.
Sean hurriedly pulled Elijah, who was being made to do push-ups, aside and spoke in a low voice:
"Your few...relatives are planning on teasing the bridesmaids. From what I heard, they might have some inappropriate ideas. You need to watch out for that..."
Elijah’s face changed slightly, and he nodded, saying:
"I know, I’ll be careful. Those few are distant relatives of mine. They insisted on coming this time, and with the elders pushing, I couldn’t refuse..."
Sean nodded to show his understanding.
He returned to his seat but kept an eye on that lewd man.
The man walked over to two others and whispered something to them, grinning lewdly before turning to appraise the bridesmaids.
At this point, the bride and groom’s program had ended. The lewd man then suggested:
"Shouldn’t the bridesmaids and groomsmen perform a program too?"
Upon his remark, surrounding relatives immediately chimed in with agreement.
While Sean thought the bridesmaids would refuse, he was surprised to see two of them standing up to agree willingly.
Sean didn’t understand at first, but then he noticed the girls were mostly glancing at Lincoln and Douglas and realized their intentions.
Turns out they had a plan!
With that, he figured Douglas and Lincoln could undoubtedly protect the bridesmaids.
Any lewd man wanting to stir up trouble would have to pay a price.
The initial games were simple and harmless - musical chairs, balloon stomping, things like that.
As the festivities went on and people grew more accustomed to one another, more intimate games like passing white paper with their mouths and holding balloons between them started.
Judging the bridesmaids and groomsmen to be having fun, Sean continued watching, even finding it quite enjoyable.
And then, he heard a scream, "Ahh!"
A girl had cried out in surprise. Sean quickly turned his attention back to the games and discovered that the lewd man had somehow made his way behind the round-faced girl, and had just pulled his hand back. The girl was clutching her chest, staring at the lewd man with a mixture of shock, humiliation, and anger!
"What are you doing?" Isla rushed over and scolded the lewd man, "If you continue to misbehave, you won’t be welcome here anymore!"
"Bride, you’re not being fair!" The man feigned innocence and continued jokingly, "Now that you’re married into the Hastings family, you have to side with us."
"Even if I side with you, I won’t let you act indecently!" Isla stood her ground unwaveringly.
As Elijah was about to step in, another one of his cousins intervened, shoving the lewd man before addressing Isla:
"Lisa, he’s drunk, don’t bother arguing with him. Let’s continue, continue!"
Having said that, it didn’t seem like there was much left to argue about. Isla went to the round-faced girl and whispered a few words to her.
The girl quietly shook her head.
Sean could hear that she was vigilant, and the lewd man hadn’t managed to take advantage of her.
The wedding games resumed, but this time Sean was keeping an eye on the lewd man.
He didn’t believe for a second that the guy would change!
