Chapter 483: Chapter 339: Discussion on Certain Disadvantageous Traits that Benefit Others

Sean Knight made a rare discovery; there were also several small golden ritual implements amongst the auction items.

They were all sold separately. Using his Sky Eye, Sean Knight could see that these ritual implements were packed in exquisite boxes, untouched. The energy within them was plentiful.

The auction treated these golden ritual implements that Sean Knight had excavated almost like gold crafts.

Each starting bid hadn’t exceeded one million dollars, mainly because of the quantity of gold involved.

Therefore, Sean Knight confidently bid, averaging at five million dollars per item.

The eighteenth guest and Sean Knight fought over some items, obviously trying to raise the bid for Sean Knight.

Sean Knight let go at one instance, and a golden mask fell into the lot of the eighteenth guest.

The eighteenth guest looked crestfallen!

It was merely a gold artifact. It could only sell for a maximum of a million dollars, yet he had paid four million eight hundred thousand for it!

He hadn’t expected Sean Knight to stop bidding!

So, later on, when Sean Knight continued to bid for gold artifacts, the eighteenth guest didn’t dare to follow beyond two or three million dollars.

Sean Knight secured a set of eight wooden totems and five more golden ritual instruments; by now, the trip could be considered a great success.

However, Sean Knight knew this was not the ultimate goal.

He still hoped to acquire the primeval forest in which Swan Lake was located.

It remained uncertain whether this forest was included in the auction.

The contest lasted two hours, with two intervals in between, before the final hour of the auction approached.

Sean Knight had absolutely no idea what the last auction items would be; he just had to wait.

Sean Knight comforted himself: securing totem columns was already an achievement for this trip.

Even if they weren’t able to auction the forest, there would be no regrets.

The third-hour auction items were all filled with potential.

The first auction item was a small lithium mine.

Everyone knows, in the field of researching and applying new energy, lithium batteries are a significant field.

Therefore, a lithium mine, even a small lithium mine, immediately attracted intense competition from many participants.

Sean Knight didn’t participate, the ownership of these mines was not within his purview.

Originally, some guests with smaller numbers who sat at the front didn’t bid at all, but they suddenly started offering bids.

Sean Knight was happy to watch the excitement.

He noticed the eighteenth guest also raised his card, but his bid was quickly discarded by others.

The ownership of the lithium mine was eventually taken by number nine.

Next up was a batch of chemical raw materials.

Sean Knight was curious. Just what the heck was Brown up to? It felt like he had all sorts of stuff in his estate.

Then came an oil painting, which was allegedly a famous work by John Singer Sargent. The elderly man who brought Smith over raised his card.

This time Smith stepped forward to help with the appraisal, and the elderly man eventually won the oil painting.

Subsequently, the value of each auction item was above ten million dollars. The pace of the auction was fast, and it seemed some people had a tacit understanding - if someone participated, the others would abandon the bid.

These items were quite specialized, so fewer people bid, and fewer people participated. Some people even left the scene early because they had already got what they wanted.

"The next item up for auction is a primitive jungle located in Arkansas. Mr. Brown once found a treasure worth over thirty million dollars there. It is a land of treasure. The starting price is ten million dollars— let’s begin!"

The big screen showed the location, area, tree species, tree ages, and other detailed information of the primitive jungle that came up for auction.

Sean Knight carefully observed the enlarged satellite image, and quickly spotted the significantly expanded Swan Lake!

This was the place!

There was a brief silence owing to this at the auction site!

No one made a bid!

The auctioneer felt a little awkward. He immediately spoke loudly,

"Everyone, take a look at the big screen. This primitive jungle spans tens of thousands of hectares. Although most trees are not suitable for logging, this is renewable resources indeed!

Besides!"

He raised his voice and yelled:

"Besides! Mr. Brown once hunted for a highly valuable treasure here! Who can guarantee that there wouldn’t be more hidden treasures in such a vast area?"

"But transportation is very inconvenient," a voice interrupted.

Sean Knight felt immensely grateful to the man who provided this timely assistance.

Some people wanted to participate in the bidding - even disregarding the rest, the trees themselves were a fortune if they were felled.

But as soon as one heard that transportation was inconvenient, the idea was immediately dismissed.

Even if the trees were usable, what good would they be? If the freight cost was too high, coupled with labour cost, the wood was virtually worthless after moving it out!

Sean Knight slowly raised his hand:

"Ten million dollars!"

He started at the base price!

Sean Knight had sparked attention in some people already.

Though he had never bid more than ten million for a single item, with six auctions amounting to more than twenty million, it was clear that he wasn’t some poor boy.

Once Sean Knight spoke out, the eighteenth guest immediately spun his head to look at him.

Sean Knight wasn’t intimidated, he stared back at him, clearly saying in his eyes, ’if you try to take over, I will let you have it.’

Number eighteen seemed stunned by Sean Knight’s gaze; he hesitated for a moment but ultimately, he didn’t utter a word.

Sean Knight smirked triumphantly.

Some people simply needed a taste of their own medicine.

But not everyone wanted Sean Knight to succeed.
