Chapter 295: Chapter 243: Targeting the Wrong Person!

Upon hearing Elijah’s words, Sean Knight glanced around and immediately spotted two cars about two hundred meters away in the northwestern direction.

The two cars were parked by the edge of the plains, below the carriage-way, and two men were watching the grassland—of course, they might also be observing this side.

Sean, with his Sky Eye, could naturally see that there were still five people in the two cars.

Among these seven people, four had guns, and the remaining three carried knives on them.

There really was a problem!

There were still people working in the farmland nearby, so these people were unlikely to take action.

But Sean knew that once his car hit the road, as soon as the two cars caught up with him, they would be surrounded, and the robbery was certain!

It’s only thanks to Elijah and his team’s vigilance, coupled with Sean’s Sky Eye, that they could detect the threat early.

Otherwise, if they encounter ordinary Chinese tourists, it would truly be troublesome!

"Let’s go, get in the car and drive into the plains," Sean thought for a moment and signaled for everyone to get in the car.

The atmosphere in the car instantly became tense.

Seeing their car start, the two men behind them immediately got into their cars and followed at a not too close, yet not too far distance.

"It’s confirmed now; they’re following us," Elijah said as he checked the rearview mirror and saw the two cars coming after.

Sean didn’t say anything but looked at Alistair Murray.

The Xinjiang University graduate, who had been out of school for less than two years, was suddenly nervous.

Although he had graduated less than two years ago, Alistair wasn’t inexperienced, knowing that if they encountered a robbery, they would not be able to resolve the situation peacefully.

"We must have been spotted at Xilingol—that’s how they started tailing us," Lincoln Harrington suddenly commented.

While eating at Xilingol earlier, the five of them had drawn attention.

There were few foreigners there, so the four Chinese faces of Sean and his companions were conspicuous.

"Then, shouldn’t we hurry to Panfilov?" Alistair proposed immediately.

Panfilov was a relatively large city nearby, opposite to Khorgos, both of which were port cities; moreover, there were relatively more Chinese people there, and security was better.

"We can’t make it in time," Elijah shook his head, "It’ll be dark before we get to Panfilov, and if they set up a blockade on the road, we’ll be trapped like rats."

"Going deeper into the grassland would be even more dangerous!" Alistair was somewhat anxious, "There’s almost no one around, and they’ll be even bolder!"

Sean smiled and said:

"Don’t worry; we’re not pushovers, either."

Glancing back, he saw that the cars weren’t catching up, so he changed the topic:

"Alistair, I heard that Kazakhstan is inviting Kazakh people from all over the world to move here, offering excellent conditions. Why didn’t you take Kazakhstan’s citizenship?"

Prior to their arrival, Sean had discussed with Alistair that some of his relatives were already in Kazakhstan and had recently become citizens.

However, Alistair chose not to change his citizenship.

"Actually... I have considered it," Alistair sighed, "The biggest reason is that some people here look down on us. Although they don’t say it, I can see it."

Sean didn’t say anything, and Alistair continued:

"But I don’t understand. What qualifies them to look down on us? The development speed of West Province is much faster than theirs. Which of their roads, cities, and infrastructure are better than ours?

None at all!

But they’re still arrogant!

Of course, there’s another reason for this."

Pointing at the two cars behind them, Alistair continued:

"Actually, I also know that West Province used to be quite chaotic. But at least now, such blatant incidents wouldn’t occur.

Moreover, our domestic policies are quite good to us. I got extra points for university entrance exams when I applied..."

Sean thought that made sense.

West Province indeed had good policies for ethnic minorities.

"When I first became a translator, I heard that a team of engineers traveling to the western part of Kazakhstan was robbed on the way," Alistair was silent for a moment before continuing:

"By the time their company found them through the Kazakh police, only a female engineer was left, who had been brutally abused. The other men..."

Alistair didn’t continue.

Elijah suddenly interrupted:

"Although both are SCO members, Kazakhstan wasn’t so friendly to us a few years ago. Just at the junction of the three countries to the south, there was once a training camp for splinter forces. The Kazakhstan government knew about it but pretended not to.

In those years, splinter forces were even active openly in Kazakhstan! If they hadn’t killed two Kazakhstan policemen, the Kazakhstan government probably wouldn’t have driven the splinter forces out even now..."

Sean didn’t expect to hear so many "secrets" from these two!

By this time, the car had already driven deep into the plains, and no people could be seen on either side.

"Alistair, if we manage to subdue them, how do you think we should deal with them?"

Sean’s sudden question left Alistair somewhat baffled.

He turned his head to look at the cars behind them, feeling both nervous and puzzled:

"Us subduing them? Shouldn’t we be speeding up to find a thick grass area to shake them off?

There are two of their cars, and I heard that although gun control here is strict, since they dare to come, they must be..."

Alistair didn’t finish his sentence, but his meaning was clear.

We can’t beat these robbers; we’d better get out of here quickly!

Lincoln and Douglas Cooper exchanged glances, neither of them saying anything.
