Chapter 296: Chapter 243: Targeted the Wrong Person! _2
The sky had already darkened, with only the moon, a sliver of a crescent also known as the young maiden’s brow, being in sight.
As the saying goes, it was the perfect night for mischief when the sky was moonless and the wind is high.
The old hands in the two cars behind suddenly accelerated, one of the off-road vehicles bolting towards them, obviously intending to overtake!
Sitting in the passenger seat, Sean Knight suddenly took something out of his bag and handed it to Elijah Hastings, then took out two more and handed them to Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper.
Looking at it in the faint twilight, Alistair Murray jumped in shock!
They were guns!
"The bullets are preloaded, you two check them," said Sean Knight to Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper.
While driving, Elijah Hastings simply stowed the gun next to him.
Sean Knight also drew his gun, loading the bullets!
At this point, one of the trailing cars had already charged forward, abruptly stopping horizontally about twenty to thirty meters in front of Sean Knight’s vehicle!
Elijah Hastings stomped on the brakes, almost hitting them!
Lincoln Harrington said to Alistair Murray:
"Get down later, don’t get licked by a bullet!"
After saying this, he prepared to get out of the car.
The car behind also blocked their path. Four men in the front and three in the rear got out of the car, carrying various weapons, and slowly strolled towards them!
"Elijah, you direct!" said Sean Knight, preparing to leave the vehicle.
"Boss, you and I will take the front. Lincoln, you and Douglas take the back. Act quickly and then support us. Alistair Murray, you stay in the car and lie down, don’t move!"
After speaking, Elijah Hastings pushed open the car door and got out.
A man in the front holding a rifle didn’t seem to regard Elijah Hastings’s group seriously. He didn’t even aim his gun properly, just shouting towards them.
However, before he could finish his sentence, Elijah Hastings had already stepped out and suddenly opened fire!
Almost simultaneously, the guns in the hands of Sean Knight, Lincoln Harrington, and Douglas Cooper also went off!
Their first targets were the few others who were carrying guns!
"Bang Bang Bang!"
Sean Knight knew his shooting skills were far from comparable to the others, so he specifically targeted the two men on his side!
He was using a Glock, and he didn’t stop firing until the magazine was completely empty!
The men on the other side had never expected the firepower of their opposition to be so formidable!
They had robbed Chinese tourists more than once!
The Chinese tourists were at most armed with a knife or had a stick or baseball bat. Against a gun, there was basically no competition. If asked for money, they would yield it, as they would any possessions.
So these men wielding guns never even intended to use them, they were just for show.
But they never expected the opposition to be so vicious! They opened fire without even warning!
By the time Sean Knight aimed to reload, Elijah Hastings, Lincoln Harrington, and Douglas Cooper had already ceased firing.
In contrast to Sean Knight, who had emptied his gun’s bullets, each of them only fired one or two shots!
Each one a shot that killed an enemy!
The four of them approached for a check, and Sean Knight grimaced.
The two men on his side were filled with holes and thoroughly dead.
There was a wounded prisoner each on Elijah’s side and on Lincoln’s. Sean Knight went forward to pick up a gun.
An old AK, inspecting the rifling, it looked good. Pulling the bolt back, he found that there were actually no bullets chambered!
Furthermore, there were only about ten bullets in the magazine!
The other two contained hunting rifles.
On Lincoln’s side, however, there was a rather new SKS semi-automatic rifle.
China’s Type 56 semi-automatic was imitated from the SKS. The two look quite similar.
Sean Knight found that SKS pretty decent, so he simply confiscated it.
He wasn’t fond of the other guns.
Elijah Hastings called Alistair Murray over and started questioning the live captives.
Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper went to investigate the vehicles, one in the front and one in the back.
Soon, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper came over.
Lincoln Harrington spoke first: "There’s basically nothing in this car in front. It seems their residence is not far from here."
"There’s some food in the car behind us, a bag with bullets, and some various kinds of money. It seems we weren’t their only job today!" Douglas Cooper said, somewhat heated, "There’s even blood on the money!"
"Aaah——!"
At this moment, a scream suddenly came from the place where Elijah Hastings was questioning the prisoners!
Sean Knight turned his head to look and saw Alistair Murray’s pale face, trying his best not to look at the dead robbers.
But the injured one who was being questioned in front of him could not be ignored.
Elijah Hastings, holding a stick he found, just smashed the robber’s arm!
The robber hollered in agony; Elijah Hastings gave a signal, and he shut up immediately!
He understood Elijah’s warning—if he continued to yell, he could bid his other arm goodbye!
He had already been shot in the leg earlier. Now an arm was severely injured, and if another arm was broken...
The very thought terrified him!
He spilled everything out, like beans falling from an overturned bamboo tube!
A moment later, Elijah dragged the robber over to Sean Knight and said:
"Boss, their hideout is about ten kilometers from here, located in the plains. It’s in an abandoned Winter Den. There’s one man still there, should we..."
"Let’s check it out!" Sean Knight decided on the spot.
No loose ends can be left!
"What about these few?" Elijah asked.
"Drive their cars, then load the bodies." Sean replied, "Stuff them in the trunk as much as possible. Once we get to their hideout and finish off the guy there, burn everything together!"
These people had a history of violence, and Sean wouldn’t for a moment believe that they hadn’t taken lives before!
The three vehicles set off in the direction indicated by the robber.
The sky had already turned dark; the roads were rough, hindering their progress.
About half an hour later, they spotted a lit area to the front right.
There were no electric lines here, but there were several photovoltaic panels tilted outside. It appeared to be solar-powered.
Someone peeked out from the shabby house and yelled something.
The car was familiar, so the man had no suspicions.
The car drove straight up to him, and before he could react, Elijah shot him down!
Once he got out of the car, Sean looked around, and his rage surged!
Several skeletons were buried behind the Winter Den!
These people had committed countless atrocities!
"Search the place and then burn the bodies!" Sean ordered.
"Ah--" The wounded robber suddenly screamed.
Alistair Murray, who had recovered, hurriedly translated:
"He says he knows of a hidden treasure nearby. He is willing to reveal it, hoping we won’t kill him!"
Hidden treasure?
Shaking his head, Sean replied:
"Tell him, we don’t believe him."
"He says it’s true!" Before Alistair could translate Sean’s words, the robber had already spoken, "He says there are some bronze wares they obtained from there, in this house!"
"Elijah, send him to his maker!" Sean said without any hesitation. "They’ve likely spilled plenty of innocent blood!"
Elijah raised his gun towards the robber. The robber screamed in despair before being killed by a single gunshot!
Alistair was somewhat confused. Though he was frightened, he still asked:
"Why did we have to kill him? He had already confessed!"
Sean handed an iron shovel to him:
"Go dig at the back; let’s see what’s in those piles of sheep dung?"
Alistair didn’t know why Sean had said that, but he knew that Sean was the boss among them.
Although he wasn’t sure whether Sean was joking or serious, he didn’t dare to assume. Lighting up the place with his mobile phone, he began to dig.
However, after only ten minutes or so, Alistair discarded the shovel and ran back:
"They...they killed people! More than one..."
The events of the day had left a profound impact on him!
In the past, hearing about robberies left him feeling only sympathy for the victims.
But today, not only had he seen the robbers being killed in retaliation, but he had also laid eyes on the people who had been murdered and buried by these robbers!
Should these robbers be killed?
Naturally, they deserved to die!
However, watching the robbers being killed right before his own eyes...it was quite a sensation, to say the least.
Sean didn’t bother with Alistair’s feelings; he had already moved into the house.
There were three rooms in total— one lit, two dark. The house was a mess. It didn’t take long for Elijah and his two men to find a hoard of items.
Money, cameras, various bags, antlers, as well as some gold and jade jewelry.
Some of these items were likely loot that they hadn’t had time to fence or were deliberately held onto.
However, what caught Sean’s eye was a set of copper horse gear gilded in gold—from the horsewhip, bridle, to the stirrups, amounting to over ten pieces.
Sean felt somewhat disappointed. These were not artifacts from the ancient Wusun Country—the stirrups hadn’t even been invented then!
Nevertheless, they were still quite remarkable items.
