Chapter 194: Chapter 192: We Can’t Let Zhu Go Treasure Hunting Anymore!
The young man’s name was Howard, a local from New York. He was very interested in treasure hunting.
However, due to his poor family background, he only obtained his first metal detector after he graduated and started working.
After buying the metal detector, Howard considered himself a treasure hunter.
He did indeed help many people find lost items, and his most famous and valuable find, which he loved to talk about, was a neighbor’s heavyset aunt’s lost wedding ring.
This was Howard’s proudest treasure-hunting experience.
However, he was not satisfied, and often brought his beloved metal detector to various places to search for treasures in his spare time.
Sometimes, Howard was really envious of the treasure hunters he saw online, especially those living in Europe, surrounded by centuries-old buildings everywhere.
He saw very few old buildings near New York, and even when he occasionally found out about some old houses dating back to earlier times, he would be chased away by their owners before he could even start his search. Sometimes he would even suffer the humiliation of having a gun pointed at him.
When he heard about the treasure hunting competition here, Howard was very excited and arrived at the scene early.
These manors had a long history and were privately owned.
He could never enter them without the owner’s permission – and now, even with an equal chance of entering, he still had to wait for the guests who had invitations to search for half an hour before they could enter!
Such ridiculous rules!
Like the two Chinese people who entered just now, Howard was willing to bet that the awkward way they held their detectors meant they must have gotten their invitations through connections!
At this moment, Howard felt humiliated!
This was such unfair treatment; these people with connections could stroll in proudly while a "professional" like himself had to wait outside!
Howard held his anger inside, determined to show the two Chinese boys what a real treasure hunter was once it was his turn to enter.
As expected, after entering and thanks to his agile movements and skills, he found several metal-sensitive spots in no time.
Although the things he found weren’t very valuable, they were enough to cover his expenses for this trip.
From what he saw online, weren’t treasure hunting competitions in Europe just like this?
Very few people could actually find valuable items; most were just there for the excitement and to try their luck.
Howard circled around Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings twice with an obvious purpose.
Elijah became angry and wanted to chase him away.
However, Sean held him back, as he didn’t have time to deal with this immature white boy right now; he had more important things to verify.
Sean’s tolerance only made Howard bolder, thinking Sean was like the Chinese international students he had encountered at school who would only back down when faced with conflicts, even if they were in the right.
Well, he couldn’t blame anyone but himself then!
Since Howard didn’t have anywhere else to vent his anger, and because of Sean’s generosity, he became even more uncontrollable!
He walked past Sean and Elijah several times, even thrusting his metal detector in front of them twice.
"Teach him a lesson, just don’t kill him!" Sean regretted ever being kind to him!
Elijah had been waiting for this, and seeing that Howard didn’t back down but even refused to put down the shovel and metal detector in his hands, suddenly leaped up and kicked Howard squarely in the chest!
The six-foot-tall Howard was knocked to the ground!
Standing in front of Howard, Elijah coldly said:
"Stop circling around us like a dog, or I’ll beat you so badly that even your mom won’t recognize you!"
With that said, he followed Sean to search for the treasure.
Howard lay on the ground, humiliated, knowing that even if he got up, he was no match for them!
But what made him even more upset were the voices he heard nearby:
"Did you see that? That idiot went to provoke them several times and got beat up this time, right?"
"He deserves it! Doesn’t he know that those two Chinese people had invitations? Are those with invitations ordinary people?"
"What a disgrace! If you don’t have any skills, you should just quietly search for treasures instead of causing trouble. What a foolish act!"
...
Almost none of the treasure hunters supported or even sympathized with him.
After a while, Howard got up, intending to vent his anger at Sean and Elijah, but he found out they were already far away.
"That idiot," Elijah couldn’t help cursing from a distance, "really thought he was something!"
"There’s all sorts of people in the world," Sean wasn’t too surprised, "there will always be those who don’t like us and those who need us to teach them a lesson.
What we have to do is to reach a height where they can only look up to but never reach. Then we won’t have so many troubles."
Then he stopped and pointed to the ground, saying:
"It should be right here."
"What’s here?" Elijah was surprised, but then realized, "You mean there’s treasure here?"
"I guess it should be here." Sean pointed at two big trees in the distance and then back to the small building.
Elijah immediately lowered his head with the metal detector to explore, but there was no response.
"No need to check, someone searched it just now, and there’s no response," Sean said.
"And you’re still sure it’s here?" Elijah reluctantly scanned with the metal detector again and, as expected, there was no response.
At this time, Mr. George strolled over leisurely, holding not a metal detector, but a walking stick in his hand.
