Chapter 155: Chapter 154: It’s Just a Treasure Hunt!
Kathy received a phone call from Sean, and her first reaction was to persuade Henry to return to China
Unlike Joanna, Kathy had been in contact with Jeremy for a long time and was aware of the situation in China.
Anyone who could threaten Sean would be unlikely to reach into China to do so, no matter how bold or far-reaching they may be.
Sean, however, refused.
"I will definitely return to China, but not like this."
Sean patiently explained:
"I will resolve the threat and make sure that there is no danger to myself or you before leaving."
In fact, during this time, Sean had planned to bring Joanna back to China to meet his parents once she was on vacation.
He just didn’t expect problems to arise before that happened.
Looking back, it was all his own fault.
Not taking Brown seriously was bound to result in problems.
In fact, he should have been vigilant earlier.
With Brown’s vindictive nature, how could he possibly let Sean go?
This time, he would definitely make Brown taste his wrath!
Seeing that Sean was determined, Kathy didn’t try to persuade him further.
Sean just asked Kathy to take care of his properties.
As for treasure hunting, that was his forte!
After arranging everything, Sean set out to prepare.
There was still plenty of space in the Jade Pendant realm, so Sean added some food, water, extra weapons, and survival supplies before heading back to the villa to rest.
Early the next day, Sean left the villa, carrying his backpack and waiting.
Before long, a black off-road vehicle pulled up in front of him, and a man in black rolled down the car window and emotionlessly said,
"Get in."
Sean opened the car door and got in.
As the car drove away, Sean faintly felt they were heading towards the port.
Sean saw the stern man he had met the day before on a large ship.
"My name is Peter, or you can call me Butcher." Peter stood in the captain’s room, hands on his back, not even looking at Sean. "Remember, I asked for your help in finding the treasure as a favor to you! If you disobey, I have many ways to make you remember this moment!"
Sean didn’t speak.
He knew the situation was beyond his control, and there was no use in talking tough now.
"Since it’s treasure hunting, bring out the clues."
Seeing that Sean was unperturbed, Peter was somewhat surprised, but he had seen many people before and didn’t pay much attention to it. He waved his hand, and immediately someone presented a map.
"Our destination is an island, and the treasure is on the island."
Sean was somewhat surprised.
Although he appeared calm on the surface, his mind was tense the entire time.
Both Peter and his bodyguards were armed with guns.
Several guns in Sean’s spatial realm were also loaded with bullets.
If things broke down, Sean could guarantee that he would be the first to shoot.
Fortunately, there was no need for that now.
But was this clue just a map?
Sean didn’t think that the treasure Peter was looking for would be the same as the one he searched for on Mermaid Island.
Nor did he believe that the island would be as small as Mermaid Island.
If it were small, that would be one thing.
But if it were too large, how long would it take for him to find what he needed?
"What else?" Sean asked.
"We’ll discuss that once we’re on the island. For now, just memorize the shape and features of the island."
Sean glanced at it and memorized it.
"What if I can’t find it?"
"Didn’t find it?" Peter glanced at him without saying a word.
Sean Knight understood.
If he really hadn’t found it, his chances of survival would be slim!
These vicious criminals!
Wait until they get to the island, and then pick them off one by one!
Seeing that Sean didn’t say anything, Peter waved his hand and had someone take him away.
Sean was arranged in a regular cabin, sharing it with a bodyguard.
The other man had a stern face, and Sean didn’t want to make conversation with him.
After sailing for two days and two nights, they arrived at a large island on the third day when it was just getting light.
Sean remembered the name of the island on the map was Black Whale Island, and the location on the mobile phone navigation was somewhere between America and Europe.
The island was quite big, and he thought it would be difficult to find the treasure.
To his surprise, there was a small pier on the island.
The boat docked at the pier, and Sean disembarked with some others.
From afar, the island was mountainous and undulating.
But when they got closer, they realized the seaside was quite a distance from the mountains, at least a few kilometers.
This was too big!
When they got on the island, Sean didn’t see anyone else and wondered if Peter had bought the place, like Brown had bought the primitive forest.
Peter and his group led Sean into the mountains, where there were a row of wooden cabins, which seemed to be Peter’s base.
Sean was assigned a wooden cabin with another man in black, which made him somewhat dissatisfied.
It would be difficult to carry out many things.
However, it seemed normal. The other party obviously did not intend to get along well with him.
After only ten minutes of rest, Sean was called to another wooden cabin by Peter.
Upon entering the cabin, Sean felt there was a world of difference between this place and the one he was staying in.
Here, there was air conditioning, a sofa, a television and even a suite.
Fortunately, there was also electricity in his room. Sean guessed that the electricity was generated through tidal power.
"I heard from Brown that you’re good at treasure hunting, let’s see what you can do now," Peter said immediately after seeing Sean.
"The treasure we’re looking for is a ship full of gold and silver. My ancestors obtained the gold and silver through trade from America, and they were shipping it to Europe when they encountered pirates. They risked their lives to hide the treasure on this island," Peter explained as he spread a sheepskin map on the table.
"This is the nautical chart left from that time, which marks the location of the treasure on this island. But at the time, to prevent leaks, they didn’t mark the exact location on the map, and no one knew afterwards."
Peter’s voice sounded somewhat low at this point.
"I’ve invited more than a dozen teams of treasure hunters to search for the treasure on this island, but none have found it."
"I can give you a scope of their search efforts. But I heard from Brown that you found the treasure he was looking for in an area previously searched by others, so it’s up to you whether you want to use this scope or not," Peter said as he put away the sheepskin map and looked at Sean seriously.
"You only have one week! If you can’t find it within a week, the typhoon will pass through, making this place uninhabitable - don’t blame me for leaving you alone on the island to fend for yourself!"
When he said this, Sean had some regrets.
Previously, Peter threatened Sean by using Joanna, the freight yard, and Kathy as leverage, and Sean thought that Peter just wanted him to do his best to find the treasure.
He really underestimated the ruthlessness of people!
He actually dared to leave him on this island!
It seemed that no matter whether he could successfully find the treasure this time, he must not underestimate his opponents in the future!
Sean imprinted this rule in his mind and looked up at Peter.
Peter was already giving instructions to others:
"Take away any unrelated items in his backpack, so as not to distract him from his treasure hunt."
Sean realized that Peter didn’t want him to have contact with the outside world!
What a butcher!
