Chapter 156 - 155: Terror Tour around the Island

Chapter 156: Chapter 155: Terror Tour around the Island

Peter saw that Sean didn’t talk, thinking he had intimidated him and showed a hint of contempt, and then smugness.

He thought of the Chinese as cowardly and managed to scare this treasure hunter with just a few words!

"Where do you plan to start?" Peter’s voice was still cold and even a bit arrogant.

If Sean could retort, Peter might have a higher opinion of him.

Sean said emotionlessly:

"When was the treasure buried here, approximately how much is there? How is it stored, is the whole ship here or just the containers where the treasures are stored..."

A series of questions left Peter speechless, but soon he said unhappily:

"It happened more than three hundred years ago. The specific time is unrecorded, and as for your other questions, I have no answer. Fine, Charlie, you go with him. Sean, remember, your time is limited!"

Sean silently cursed but didn’t say anything, and turned to leave.

Peter watched Sean leave, the contempt in his eyes disappearing, and spoke:

"Do you think what he said about Chinese ’Feng Shui’ is true or false?"

Someone nearby said:

"I did some research. In China, this mysterious tradition has a history of thousands of years, almost as long as this nation’s history. Although many people do not believe it now, I think it has some effect."

"Then let’s see what he comes up with." Peter’s face showed a hint of cruelty.

"If he doesn’t find anything within a week, deal with him the same as the other useless ones!"

Sean returned to his wooden cabin, took a small backpack from his bag, filled it with water, medicine, and other necessities, and left the cabin heading towards the pier.

Charlie followed behind, silent.

Sean reached the pier first and examined it carefully. He found traces of activity in recent years and noticed that the marine imprints on the construction materials beneath the pier were not obvious.

Having been to Mermaid Island once, Sean knew the coastal conditions well.

After checking the pier, he was sure that this place was unlikely to have been a docking spot centuries ago. He turned and began walking along the coast, with Charlie following him.

Peter, at the wooden cabin, watched Sean’s movements through a telescope, his curiosity piqued.

It seemed that nobody lived on the island, and creatures like fish and crabs could be seen from time to time on the reefs and sandy beaches.

Some even curiously jumped out and hid in rock crevices to observe as Sean passed by.

Sean took a plastic bag from his backpack, caught some large crabs and fish, put them into the bag, tied it up, and put it back in his backpack as he continued to move forward.

What a great place for fishing!

Watching Sean’s movements through the telescope, Peter’s face darkened.

"Irresponsible! He needs a lesson!"

"If he comes back today without any discoveries, cut his dinner in half!"

Sean didn’t know Peter was annoyed by his actions and felt secretly pleased.

He had grown up inland and had never been fishing before. Although he had caught fish in ponds in his hometown, it was a completely different feeling.

However, he knew that he wasn’t here to play, and soon resumed his observations.

After walking a while, Sean suddenly stopped, took a shovel from his backpack, and started digging in the sand.

In a short while, he dug up a rusty, curved knife.

Was this a weapon used by pirates at the time?

Sean put the item in a plastic bag, sealed it, and continued to move forward.

Peter, still using the telescope, saw this scene and his expression eased a bit. It seemed that Sean was finally acting like a treasure hunter.

Making stops along the way, Sean didn’t make many discoveries that day.

As the sun set, Sean had already started walking back.

He had walked only about three or four kilometers along the coast, finding two spear tips, a curved blade, and a wine bottle.

Although irrelevant to the treasure, Peter, upon seeing these items, ultimately refrained from "mistreating" Sean.

"Tell me your plan."

The dining table was filled with simple foods, but there was a good variety. Sean Knight picked and chose and ate to his satisfaction.

"There must be a pier for the boat to dock." Sean said while eating, "I plan to go around and see if there are any other places to dock besides this one."

Peter didn’t say much.

Sean finished eating and went back to his own room.

Peter kept Charlie behind and gave him a few orders.

"It seems reasonable, let him live a few more days, but keep a close eye on him. Don’t let him play any tricks!"

Although separated by a wooden cabin, Sean’s keen hearing allowed him to hear the words Peter said to Charlie.

He pretended to be relaxed on the surface, but his nerves were always tense.

As expected, Peter wasn’t planning on giving Sean a way out!

He had one more week!

He had to figure out a solution within this week!

Sean pondered, but on the surface, he still seemed quite relaxed. He took fish and crabs from his backpack.

The fish were already dead, but the crabs were still snapping their claws. Sean simply cleaned them up, took out his portable gas stove and small pot, fetched water, and began to steam them right away.

When Charlie came in, Sean was eating the crab.

As he saw Charlie, Sean waved a crab and gestured him with a smile.

Charlie disgustedly glanced at the crab and went straight to his bed to rest.

Sean didn’t care and continued to enjoy his meal.

After cleaning up, Sean briefly rinsed himself and went to sleep.

At midnight, Charlie woke up and found Sean still asleep. He quietly prepared his weapons.

Sean opened his eyes slightly and closed them again.

For the next three days, Sean walked around the island every day, while Peter’s men were busy searching nearby.

Their equipment was much better than what Sean had, including metal detectors, electric soil extractors, and even sonar.

However, neither party had any gains.

Peter’s temper began to worsen.

"If you can’t find anything, you’ll bear the brunt of my anger!"

"You’re all talk and no action!"

"If that’s all you’re capable of, you might as well jump into the sea and feed the fish!"

...

All these words were shouted by Peter at Sean during dinner.

Sean realized that Peter’s calm exterior was just a disguise, and he was no different from a tyrant!

On the fourth day, Sean returned, dragging a wooden box with cast iron corners. Charlie came behind him, with no intention of helping.

"Is this your discovery?" Peter asked excitedly, "Where is the location? How did you find it?"

The wooden box looked very old, even possibly from the time when the treasure was buried! At least, it had the appearance of a box used by pirates or sea merchants!

Peter didn’t expect Sean to actually find the treasure... No, even finding a clue would be impressive!

With that in mind, he decided to delay his plan to kill Sean!

This Chinese man’s attitude towards him wasn’t great, but he could be kept around to find the treasure!

"It’s on the shoreline," Sean said calmly, "However, I have only found this one box so far, and it’s empty."

"Isn’t that a good start?"
