Chapter 1502: Chapter 716: An Unexpected Twist

Sean Knight and his companions were speeding across the sea surface on their yacht, the sea breeze somewhat cold, as they all chatted leisurely in the cockpit.

Sean’s mobile phone rang, and he was somewhat surprised.

Who would call him at such a time?

The number made Sean pause for a moment; he picked up the call and, while walking to his own cabin, said with a smile,

"Curator Joseph Davis, what brings you to call me?"

The caller was none other than Joseph Davis—the current director of the Xinjiang Museum—yes, he had been promoted to director.

"Mr. Knight, I heard you went to Europe? I envy you, traveling around the world, seeing the sights everywhere..."

"Each has its own advantages," Sean joked with a laugh. "At least you have the privilege of seeing all the treasures of our brand-new Xinjiang."

"Ha ha ha ha," Joseph laughed before moving on to the main point. "Mr. Knight, I heard you rescued a princess in Denmark? And... on the Faroe Islands, you encountered some strange creatures?"

At that moment, in Joseph’s office, there were two middle-aged men dressed in Zhongshan suits, one of whom was expressionlessly taking notes, while the other, smilingly looking at Curator Joseph, his eyes full of encouragement.

Sean, having returned to his cabin and sitting down, was startled by the question. Had news of this already spread?

That shouldn’t be the case! Apart from the four people on his side, the only other person who knew was Cheryl Suweton—Delton? Or perhaps...

"How do you know about this?" Sean asked in return. "Not many people should know of this, right?"

"Not many? Ha, by world standards, surely not many. But still, not too few either. Let me put it this way, it’s said that you went out to sea.

Then, from Sweden, a team set off for the Faroe Islands, and then the American and English intelligence agencies got wind of it, and what followed was the formation of a secret joint investigation team on the island..."

Sean understood— the news had indeed leaked from Sweden.

However, that was also to be expected. Initially, Cheryl’s seven-person team went out, and only she came back; they definitely had to give an explanation to the others. Sean had heard from Cheryl that those six individuals held no ordinary identities.

If explanations were necessary, the other party surely would want to retrieve the remains of those who perished. In such a case, keeping things under wraps would undoubtedly be difficult.

Sean had felt that he had mostly wiped out the strange creatures in the cave, so he hadn’t intended to keep it a secret anymore. As for the gemstones inside, the affair had grown too significant, and Sean hadn’t thought of going back there again.

It seemed that those who went there were likely interested in the corpses of those creatures—perhaps for some biological experiments?

After all, Earth’s unsolved mysteries were far more plentiful than what ordinary people knew.

Sean wasn’t too surprised and replied with a smile:

"Now I’ve got it. Indeed, my friend, Princess Cheryl Suweton of Sweden, went missing on an adventure, and I led a team to rescue her. In the mountain caves of the Faroe Islands, we indeed encountered some strange creatures."

Joseph, upon hearing Sean’s confirmation, nodded to the two men beside him.

Since the mobile phone was on speaker, the other two men could hear clearly as well.

After Sean finished his explanation, he asked with some curiosity:

"Curator Joseph, what’s the reason for your inquiry? Is there something you need?"

At Sean’s question, Joseph couldn’t help but admire how perceptive Mr. Knight was!

Actually, Sean had already detected that Joseph was using the speakerphone—though it was just a faint hint of noise, Sean’s current hearing was sharp enough to pick it out.

"That’s right. Over here, the country... one department has received information on this matter and had intended to get involved. But given our distance and how late we were informed, the area has already been sealed off.

And now, we also lack a pretext to participate. You know, some matters... are not as simple as we ordinary people think."

"So, you’re saying that a certain department within our domestic agencies needs to get involved, but I want to know what specifically do they want to obtain? The creatures’ corpses, their living environment there, or... something else?"

Joseph turned to look at the two men.

The middle-aged man with a smile spoke without sound.

Joseph, however, "couldn’t see" what was being said.

The middle-aged man repeated himself, but Joseph still didn’t comprehend.

Then, Sean’s voice came through again:

"Curator Joseph, let’s do it this way, why not have the person beside you speak instead... It was them who asked you to make the call, wasn’t it?"

Joseph was taken aback upon hearing this, and the two middle-aged men were also momentarily stunned.

The expressionless middle-aged man finally showed a change in demea=nor, turning his head to look at the smiling middle-aged man.

The smiling middle-aged man did not hesitate, apparently having anticipated this moment; he moved forward and sat down in the place Joseph made room for, then said into the phone:

"Mr. Knight, hello, I am Jason Woods from the National Security XX Office XX Bureau. I’m impressed by your keen hearing, truly admirable."

"Hello," Sean said with a smile, thinking that was more like it.

However, he then felt a hint of surprise. How could the matter with the creatures draw the attention of national security? Shouldn’t this be more a scientific research issue?

Jason Woods soon clarified for him:

"Mr. Knight, our communication is encrypted, so I’ll just speak plainly. According to the information we have, the creatures you encountered in the Faroe Islands are actually a branch of the primate family, belonging to an ancient hominid line.
