Chapter 1427: Chapter 689 Rushing to the New Battlefield

After returning from the military fort, Sean Knight went to the small lake.

The gains from the fort weren’t much, merely symbolic, but it added a bit of leisurely fun to this trip to Russia.

Of course, what was a trifle for him would be a feast for the average Treasure Hunter Digger.

After the truck returned, Elijah Hastings organized the team members to unload, and those old-fashioned rifles were taken to the castle’s basement.

On the road, Elijah and Sean had already discussed hiring a professional in the coming days to refurbish these guns. Then they would try to sell them locally, and if that wasn’t possible, they’d take them to Big Island.

There was an airport in Tomsk, so they could just have Charles Young fly in.

Sean and Viola stood by the small lake, watching the construction of the diamond field that was underway.

"Viola, are you planning to work here afterward, or go to university in China?" Sean casually asked Viola as they strolled.

"I want... to go to university." Viola wasn’t sure why Sean was asking this, but after some thought, she replied:

"I have never been to China. After following you... I searched for a lot of news, pictures, and videos about China online, and I want to go see it for myself."

Sean laughed and replied,

"Then no problem. I’ll find someone to arrange for you to be an international student in China."

Sean thought that Viola was quite ambitious. Naturally, he would want to help her realize her dream.

Based on his current connections, it would be easy for him to arrange for someone to study at a university.

Viola seemed to understand that her days with Sean wouldn’t be very long, and she lowered her head, feeling a bit sad.

However, Viola quickly lifted her head and took the initiative to ask Sean,

"Dear, a friend of mine said that they are excavating mammoth ivory near the Arctic Circle. Are you interested?"

"Excavating mammoth ivory?" Sean was taken aback for a moment; he had never considered doing such a thing.

He had heard of it, but had never been involved. After all, that area was permafrost, and he guessed it wouldn’t be easy to dig.

"I heard that mammoth ivory can be used to make various crafts. Many people in China like this kind of thing."

Viola was persuading Sean to get involved with the mammoth ivory, but Sean knew she was hoping to spend more time with him.

Sean smiled.

He was, however, curious about the mammoths.

Mammoths, huh.

The movie "Ice Age" had publicized mammoths to the whole world.

Sean remembered an article he once read, called "Elephants of the Yellow River," which discussed elephant skeletal fossils excavated from the Central Plains Area, and they were several times the size of modern elephants.

It was truly massive!

Although he could actually get his hands on real ivory, there was no need for it.

Since he was there, why not give it a try?

"Is your friend reliable?" Sean asked.

"She’s been in this business for quite a few years now," Viola said, seeing that Sean seemed inclined, and immediately explained:

"Actually, she once stayed in our small town and was a member of the Diggers. But later, as the profession became overcrowded and the well-known places were nearly all dug out,

she didn’t find much in our town and eventually went to dig for mammoths near the Arctic. She told me that they had good luck this year, having already found several tusks."

Hearing this, Sean was indeed tempted.

Frankly, mammoth ivory wasn’t expensive; a tusk was only worth tens of thousands of dollars, which wasn’t even the price of one firearm.

But it was that thrill of treasure hunting and discovery!

After a moment’s thought, Sean replied with a smile,

"Okay, we can go take a look."

Upon hearing Sean’s response, Viola immediately smiled.

Of course, they couldn’t rush off to such a place without preparation. Sean first reviewed the progress at the small lake with Viola. Lincoln Harrington was serving as the overseer there and told Sean,

"Boss, just the construction of the mining site infrastructure will take at least one week. The main issue is the time needed to transport materials."

In fact, mining manually was possible, it just wouldn’t be as efficient as using machinery.

Sean mentioned Viola’s suggestion to Lincoln, who hesitated for a moment before saying with some difficulty,

"Douglas has gone to expand our sales channels, and someone needs to keep an eye on the mining site..."

"That’s exactly what I’m saying. It will be hard work for you to stay and watch over this place, but Elijah and I will go up north to take a look. If we can get our hands on it, let’s do it, and if not, we’ll come back."

"Okay." Lincoln was not insistent on following Sean to the north. He had responsibilities here and intended to see them through. If Sean had designated someone else, he would have been free.

However, Sean’s current intention regarding the diamond mine was to keep a low profile, to mine large diamonds while international diamond prices remained high, and then sell them through the channels that Douglas Cooper had expanded.

To maximize the profits.

All three of Elijah’s team members believed that Sean would not shortchange them.

Now that Sean had settled things with the mine and there was nothing much to see at the small lake, he took Viola back to the castle.

By the time they returned, Elijah and the others had already finished unloading and storing everything, and the truck had left.

"Elijah, in a few days, let’s go north to see if we can dig up some mammoth ivory," Sean said as he nudged Viola’s arm and continued,

"Her friend used to be a Digger and is currently digging for the stuff up north. Let’s join in the fun."

"Sure," Elijah pondered and said, "If we’re going there, we need to prepare well. It’s cold up there, and ordinary cars won’t make it. We need to gear up properly."
