Chapter 1388: Chapter 676: That’s Not How Business Is Done
Sean Knight returned to the tent, leaving the rest of it be.
Elijah Hastings was in charge of digging up equipment, Lincoln Harrington was taking care of the surrounding safety of the campground, and Douglas Cooper was overseeing external affairs.
With Sergei gathering intelligence in the small town, Sean now felt quite relieved.
It was comforting to think about!
"Mr. Knight, aren’t you really worried that these items won’t sell?" Viola couldn’t help but ask.
"Not worried," Sean Knight shook his head and said, "Although you see a lot of items here, the market for collections is even bigger. Not just collections, these guns are brand new and usable!
Even in this market, such guns are rare!
So, even if Teluk tries to lowball us, as soon as the news of a large batch of new guns here gets out, buyers will quickly show up!"
Viola was skeptical.
It wasn’t her fault. Although she was educated, she was still somewhat of a child — don’t let her full development fool you, she was better developed than some adults, but that’s a characteristic of Europeans.
Being mature by fifteen or sixteen.
But her thoughts were still those of a child and her exposure was limited. After all, she hadn’t really left the small town, the internet wasn’t that developed there, or rather, she knew little about it.
Her understanding of Diggers stemmed from the last two years when battlefields nearby the town were discovered, and Diggers had come to excavate them, with local people uncovering things as well.
However, both the Diggers and the locals were really just dabbling, and what they dug up was nearly all remnants from the battlefield.
Basically, none of it was intact.
Lev was somewhat of a significant middleman in the town.
Even so, in Viola’s eyes, he almost seemed like a ragpicker.
After all, the items he collected were, in the eyes of ordinary people, mostly junk.
They required a bit of fixing up before they could be sold. Even so, Lev’s house in the courtyard was still piled up with unsold items.
The condition of the items was really too poor.
Thus, in Viola’s eyes, there was a problem with the marketability of these items.
She was not a boy, thus not very interested in guns, and naturally did not know the price of a brand new Mosin-Nagant Rifle in the arms collection market!
If she had known, perhaps her mouth would have remained agape!
So her doubts were understandable.
Sean Knight just casually made a few remarks, not explaining too much. After drinking some water and resting for a while in the tent, he came out again, planning to take a walk nearby.
"Boss, some Diggers have come over and want to buy a crate of these guns," Sean Knight had just made a short round in the forest when he received Douglas Cooper’s phone call.
"You handle it. For one crate, the price must be higher than Yvonne’s original offer to be good."
"I know," Douglas said with a laugh.
After hanging up the phone, Douglas wore a smile and said to the two unmistakable Diggers:
"You two really have a good eye! What we dug up was definitely from a division-level or higher army’s warehouse! Look at this gun—
This is a real-deal Mosin-Nagant Rifle! Look at this gun oil, look at this gun sling—completely unused! Not a speck of rust at all!"
Looking at Douglas’s expression now, not a bit like the former Special Forces member he was, absolutely a secondary dealer!
However, the two Diggers naturally did not know they were dealing with a guy who could kill without blinking. They exchanged glances, then quoted their own price.
Douglas frowned at the sound.
This price was slightly higher than what Teluk offered, but still not up to Yvonne’s initial price, let alone the high price Sean mentioned.
"The price you’re offering is too low; we can’t even cover our costs with this!" Douglas said with a frown, his face showing reluctance.
The two Diggers were speechless.
You think we’re amateurs, right?
What cost does this thing have! You’ve just been digging around nearby these days, getting money every day, and this time even got a warehouse; it’s simply a no-cost business!
But since Douglas said that, the two of them couldn’t quite contradict it.
They quoted another price:
"600 dollars."
This price, in the arms market, could buy an 80%-new Mosin-Nagant Rifle — but remember, that is the arms market.
The Mosin-Nagant Rifle wasn’t just produced in Russia; as a world-renowned gun, many countries manufactured it—mainly post-war, and for a considerably long period, this type of rifle was the standard equipment of many countries.
The market is filled with varieties, and there are really many of this type of gun.
What was previously mentioned as rare, referred to those over seventy years old.
After all, being a World War II classic makes the models from the World War II period the most valuable!
Later productions were essentially meant for use, not for collections.
This is akin to buying a blue and white porcelain bowl compared to buying a Qing Dynasty official kiln blue and white porcelain bowl; can they be the same?
The nature is somewhat similar.
So as soon as the price was mentioned, Douglas’s face darkened, and his smile vanished. He took back the rifle in his hand and said:
"Maybe you two have misunderstood something. Although I am a novice among the Diggers, I do know the price of this gun. This price, on the black market, selling a 1970 Finnish-made Mosin-Nagant would be no problem."
Without paying any more attention to the two Diggers, he walked back into the campground.
The two Diggers looked at each other, seeing two team members holding guns blocking the way, they found it inappropriate to say more and had to turn and leave.
