Chapter 1387: Chapter 675: Conjunctivitis is Incurable_3
Douglas Cooper was fiddling with a Soviet-made semi-automatic rifle when he heard Sean Knight’s shout and quickly ran over.
"How’s the gun?" Sean Knight asked.
"It’s quite complicated—belonging to the more primitive type of semi-automatic. It doesn’t feel as good to use as the Garand, let alone our Type 56 semi-automatic. This gun... probably isn’t widely used on the battlefield, it’s just too complex."
"Take a look at this." Sean Knight handed him a link on his mobile phone, "This is the price."
"...Holy shit! The quantity is larger than what Yvonne asked from us, and the price has gone up by so much!" Douglas Cooper looked at the offer in astonishment, "Is this for real? If we’re going by this price, our equipment... that’s going to be over eight figures!"
This meant it was going to exceed ten million. Viola, listening in, was utterly bewildered.
"So, we need to prepare on two fronts," Sean Knight said.
"I hear that Teluk might back out of the deal and want to drive down the price. If he really does, as long as it’s within a 10% range, we can accept it, for the sake of convenience.
If it’s more than 10%, then let’s not deal with him at all and just make a phone call to this person. I reckon, this person might be Teluk’s supplier, so bypassing him would be just perfect!"
"Great, great! I love doing this kind of stuff!" Douglas Cooper said with a smile, "Boss, you just watch my acting skills!"
"Oh, so you’re an actor now?" Elijah Hastings came over, holding a Mosin-Nagant rifle fitted with a scope—a true classic.
"Of course!" Douglas Cooper said proudly, carrying the semi-automatic rifle, "You guys just wait and see!"
Speak of the devil, and he shall appear. That’s why the devil is the fastest in the universe. Faster than Quicksilver, faster even than the Flash.
Teluk, accompanied by a bunch of Diggers, made his way to the outskirts of the campground, where they were stopped by team members.
Sure enough, Yvonne wasn’t there.
Douglas Cooper, carrying the semi-automatic rifle, went over with two team members following immediately. Sean Knight, however, strolled into the forest; he did not plan to show his face to Teluk.
However, the distance was only about 100 meters, so he could hear their conversation very clearly.
"Teluk? Hello there." Douglas Cooper greeted him with a smile, his expression overly enthusiastic.
As soon as Teluk saw Douglas Cooper’s expression, he immediately felt that his assumptions were confirmed.
"I heard you guys dug up a warehouse and got a large quantity of equipment, so about our deal..."
"The deal can definitely go through, no problem!" It surprised Douglas Cooper that Teluk spoke very standard English; he paused for a moment, then quickly added: "We found even more equipment than you guys asked for, and the extra..."
"If the price is right, we can take it off your hands as well," Teluk said with a smirk that didn’t reach his eyes.
"That’s perfect!" Douglas Cooper’s face lit up with joy, "Then thank you very much!"
"However, I just received a message." Teluk’s expression feigned difficulty, "The businessman who was supposed to buy from me, his funding chain has broken. So the price for this batch of goods might need to go down a bit ..."
"How much lower?" Douglas Cooper’s smile stiffened for a moment, but he still managed to maintain a strained grin and said:
"If it isn’t too much, we can accept it. Of course, for that to happen, you guys would need to take all the stuff we’ve dug up."
"That won’t be a problem. As for the price..." Teluk believed he had Douglas Cooper and his group pegged as easy targets, thinking the Chinese people seemed soft and easy to talk to!
Maybe they were desperate for money? Or perhaps they felt insecure staying here?
After all, none of the Diggers surrounding him were pushovers; none of them was to be taken lightly!
And because of this, Teluk became increasingly brazen—he was even proud that by stirring up envy among the Diggers inadvertently on purpose, since Yvonne wasn’t there, he had brought them along to create an oppressive situation.
Teluk wasn’t foolish; otherwise, he wouldn’t be sitting where he was now.
He knew how to manipulate situations to his advantage. Pressuring for a lower price required having the leverage to do so.
His leverage lay in his position as the only major Buyer in the Small Town, and, secondly, the eagerly watching Diggers behind him.
Seeing Douglas Cooper’s seemingly compliant expression and words, Teluk thought this deal was a sure thing.
"One-third. One-third off the original offer." Teluk’s lips met, and he spat out his proposition.
"What?" Douglas Cooper involuntarily exclaimed in disbelief, "How could it drop that low?"
"Plus, you’ll need to transport this equipment to the Freight Yard in the nearby city," Teluk continued, "Only there can I make the payment."
Douglas Cooper’s face showed utter shock, evidently taken aback.
Teluk smiled and patted his shoulder, saying:
"Even so, you’re still making a fortune, right? After all, this equipment was just buried in the Soil, and all you did was dig it up, isn’t that right? Close enough is good enough."
Douglas Cooper was barely holding back his anger, but he bit his lip, shaking his head and said:
"My boss would never agree to this price and conditions."
"Then there’s nothing to discuss." Teluk shrugged nonchalantly, already anticipating Douglas Cooper’s reaction, "You should know that I’m the only one in town who can take off such a large quantity.
So... if you come to me next time, the price will drop even further... I hope you’ll think it over!"
With that, Teluk shrugged coolly and turned to leave, leaving behind a parting shot:
"I’ll give you three days to consider. In three days, I will leave here."
After saying his piece, he left with the Diggers by his side.
Douglas Cooper was left behind, looking desolate and helpless, his figure lonely and forlorn.
Once everyone had gone, Douglas Cooper approached Sean Knight.
"Not bad at all! Your acting was really top-notch!" Sean Knight said with a laugh, "Alright, now you can give that person a call. That Teluk, let him go to hell! I’m really looking forward to seeing his face when the time comes!"
"Yeah, I’m quite satisfied too!" Douglas Cooper replied, smiling, "I want to see it too! I just want to know what kind of face Teluk will make when he sees that his supplier has come here!"
