Chapter 1385: Chapter 675: Conjunctivitis is Incurable

Large quantities of Soviet-German military equipment were unearthed near the Chinese camp, presumably revealing another warehouse. This news quickly spread throughout Small Town.

Teluk and Yvonne were dining in one of the larger dining halls in Small Town.

"Can they really produce that much equipment?" Teluk asked in fluent English, "I’m skeptical. I hope the advice you gave me is right because we’re running out of time..."

"Don’t worry, boss. I’ve checked out this guy. He hardly ever fails to deliver on his promises. So, you just need to have the money ready."

Yvonne leisurely gnawed on his meat as he spoke, "Of course, if the money isn’t enough, you can’t take the equipment you want even if it’s right before your eyes!"

"Heh," Teluk scoffed, "If there really is that much equipment, who else could swallow it all besides me? The price you quoted him is too high; it has cut my profits by one-third!"

"So I think the price can definitely be pressed down. There are so many covetous eyes around; I’m not worried he won’t sell to me!"

Unfazed, Yvonne put down the bone, picked up a napkin, and wiped his mouth before saying:

"You’ve seen and heard for yourself, they really did dig up the equipment, stacked up like a small hill. So, if you insist on driving the price down, then pardon me for bowing out.

I don’t want to be someone who breaks promises! I’ve looked into this man, and although Chinese people like to use some schemes and some may like to take little advantages, when it comes to agreed-upon matters, they are more credulous than most people in the world! If you’re not honest, then it’s highly likely you won’t get those equipment!"

"But who else can they sell that much stuff to besides me? Are they going to ship it back to their own country? You know that guns are prohibited domestically in China!"

"Heh!" Yvonne put down the napkin and laughed, "Boss, do you think the world lacks arms buyers? Those are new guns!

The kind that are ready to shoot once loaded with bullets! Do you think if they cut the price and sold to those currently at war, those people wouldn’t buy?

If that guy doesn’t want money but instead post-war land or mineral rights as compensation, do you think those warmongers wouldn’t be tempted?"

"But selling to me at a low price means they get cash on hand!" Teluk put down his cutlery and retorted.

"But that way, you would be breaking the promise. I bet he’d rather dump those equipments into the Black Sea than do business with someone who doesn’t keep their word."

"We’ll see about that!" Teluk clearly didn’t agree with Yvonne’s point. He was eager for the equipment on that order, which involved a large sum of money.

Of course, Teluk was also aware that this was actually a very difficult task.

It had been a long time since such a large stockpile, let alone batches of new regulation equipment, had been found by the Diggers.

After all, the famous battlefields of That Year had been combed through many times over. Finding those equipments had become arduously difficult.

That’s why Teluk had made a very attractive offer, just to get the equipment sooner—though he could still make quite a profit even at that price.

In the millions!

But then, when Sean Knight and his team easily discovered the warehouse and excavated the equipment, Teluk regretted it.

That’s why he had that conversation with Yvonne.

Yvonne left alone, like a solitary knight, while Teluk called another person over, and soon there were more people in Small Town trying to pick up on the news.

Sean Knight had already noticed the increase of Diggers around the Campground.

The number of team members patrolling the area had increased, and those guarding the excavated boxes had set up heavy machine guns.

Two bears, startled from the jungle, emerged and threatened the team members, then were immediately shot dead.

A group of wild boars had attempted such an approach before the bears and were now partly becoming the team members’ lunch.

"Actually, wild boar meat isn’t tasty at all, it’s tough and woodsy, it’s just the novelty of it," said the part-time cook, who was butchering the boar meat, "The best way to cook such meat is to braise it with a lot of heat and use seasoning to overpower the earthy taste.

Truly, wild catches aren’t necessarily tastier than farm-raised. As long as the farm-raised are fed properly and not strange feed, and are prepared well, that taste—"

"Monitor, then why do so many people still chase after game?"

"It’s all about rarity!" said the cook, tightening the meat in the hot water to clean off the scum before lifting it out, continuing as he worked, "Look at wild chicken meat, do you think it’s tasty? It’s much worse than a free-range chicken from home, too tough!

Why do so many people like it? Isn’t it because the meat you get in the markets is raised on feed, unhealthy and not tasty?

Of course, what’s more important is the rarity. In our country, even sparrows are protected animals, imagine how rare the wildlife must be!

Don’t be fooled by television saying wild boar populations are out of control, damaging crops; just watch, if the government dares to declare that wild boars aren’t protected anymore, in less than a year, you’ll probably only be able to see them in zoos."

With this comment, the kitchen helpers all laughed.
