Chapter 1376: Chapter 672: Favors Also Matter Abroad in Case of an Accident
"Boss, that Andrew Petrov is quite tough," Sean Knight reported. "We discovered him during our patrol last night, and he joined us in resisting but ended up dead."
Hearing Elijah Hastings’ report, Sean Knight said:
"Did it alarm people nearby?"
"The gunshot definitely did, but no one came over. We’re cleaning up the site and planning to drive the caravan over."
"Fine. Bring it over." Sean Knight knew this issue wouldn’t be easy to resolve, but it was no longer just starting, and he wasn’t planning to flee just yet.
Judging by the reactions in the small town and Vera Gale’s description, Sean Knight could almost be sure that this Andrew Petrov was not well-liked. So, there was still a chance.
Although he intended to ensure his own safety, the spirit of adventure in his bones was still "acting up," and Sean Knight planned to resolve this trouble in his own way.
Half an hour later, the caravan arrived at the campground, Elijah Hastings and the others got out, the team members carried out the body, and began the burial.
The man in black, the team leader of the attackers, watched this scene, truly shivering with fear.
"Don’t worry, I won’t kill you," Sean Knight said with a smile, sensing his thoughts, "Since I’ve already promised, I won’t let you die. But you’ll have to come work for us.
After all, if I let you go now, I’d worry you’d seek revenge."
Sean Knight’s words slightly eased the man’s mind.
Elijah Hastings approached Sean Knight and reported:
"That Andrew fought till the very end. His translator and woman were ready to surrender early on, but were hit by stray bullets, dead. We didn’t manage to capture anyone alive, and the gains were slim."
"It’s fine," Sean Knight said, "Clean up the caravan, and if there are no other gains, just burn it along with the bodies." Sean Knight glanced at the luxury caravan— the type comparable to a luxury hotel suite, quite large.
However, Sean Knight was indifferent to this. He planned to label the incident as an "accident."
Having dealt with these issues, it was already daybreak.
"Viola, call Sergei over and tell him I have an important task for him," Sean Knight instructed Viola.
By now, Viola could no longer understand Sean Knight, but he clearly had no intention of explaining and simply issued orders.
Sergei soon arrived at the campground.
"Sergei, you’re familiar with the mayor of the small town, right?"
"Yes, very familiar," Sergei guessed what might have happened last night, so he wasn’t too surprised by the caravan burning nearby as he said:
"Does Mr. Knight have something he needs the mayor to do?"
"This trip has been quite rewarding," Sean Knight said, "I plan to make a donation to the small town. Fifty-thousand dollars for the school, fifty-thousand dollars for the elderly, 100,000 dollars for the small town, hopefully addressing some of the public facility issues here. Could you facilitate this for me?"
"This..." Sergei was somewhat excited.
"The money was earned from this land, so it’s normal to spend it here," Sean Knight explained, "We might be staying here a little longer, so..."
"Understood, understood!" Sergei snapped back to reality and said, "I’ll get on it right away..."
"You take my men over, and get this matter settled later," Sean Knight instructed, "Tell the mayor, I’m not feeling very well, so I won’t come over myself. The intention is all in the donation!
Of course, that’s all the money there is, after all, I have so many people to share with and further excavations to fund, which require money."
"Understood, understood!" Sergei finally regained his composure.
Then Lincoln Harrington took a few team members in an off-road vehicle to the small town.
The mayor of the small town, Peter Smith, was a retired military officer with a straightforward character. He knew about last night’s shootout near the small town.
If it were before, he would have definitely grabbed his gun and charged out to shoot both parties.
But now he was older, and with the Diggers being a mixed bag, knowing that the shootout happened at that bastard Andrew’s camp, he went to sleep peacefully.
As long as the firefight didn’t happen in the small town, he didn’t care!
However, with the dawn of day and the start of office hours, he felt it necessary to fulfill his duty as mayor, at least to check on the victims and the site. Also, to see if any townsfolk were injured.
If there were, he certainly wouldn’t be polite about it!
Although there were no troops stationed in the whole small town, with his prestige, he could still call out a good number of strong young men!
But before he could leave the house, he heard a knock at the door.
"Who is it?"
"Uncle Peter, it’s Sergei."
"Sergei? What brings you here?" Peter had a good relationship with Sergei’s father, whom he had served with, and asked as he put on his leather jacket:
"Come in. Did you bring someone with you?"
"Yes." Sergei entered Peter Smith’s house with Lincoln Harrington, stating:
"This is Quinn from China, my employer’s Assistant. He’s here on behalf of my employer to donate money to the small town."
"Donate money to the small town?" Peter’s mind hadn’t caught up yet.
"That’s right," Sergei said, "A donation for the small town. My employer said he found a warehouse on land near the small town, sold it to that Andrew, and then thought that the small town should get a share of the money."
Peter was rather surprised by this. The town had seen no shortage of Diggers, nearly a thousand if not eight hundred, but all came to take advantage.
