Chapter 1328: Chapter 656: The Sky is Falling!

The big guy didn’t expect Sean Knight to back away. He stayed in the water, bewildered for a moment, and then immediately gave chase!

Bubbles in the water began to multiply, and Sean Knight soon realized that not long after it appeared, the big guy burrowed back into the lake.

Was it unaccustomed to the outside environment, or was it restricted by something?

Sean Knight speculated, but it didn’t stop him from quickly leaving this spatial realm.

Although beautiful, to tell the truth, this place was very dangerous!

On the way back, Sean Knight noticed that beneath the vegetation-covered ground, there were many man-made objects. There were well-cut animal skins, various animal bones with tooth marks, some fish bones almost disintegrated into mud, and—household items.

Sean Knight guessed that the people of the underground city ended up living around this lake. Whether due to a lack of food or other reasons, they had left the underground city and come here.

In the end, they became food for the monsters.

This was a sad truth—or story.

Sean Knight didn’t slow down. As soon as these things came into view, he anticipated the possible situation.

He quickly returned to the entrance and looked back; the water surface of the lake was churning even more fiercely.

Even at the entrance, he could smell a more intense foul odor.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Sean Knight immediately ran up along the main corridor!

All the way, he ran back to the ice tunnel he had excavated, secured the stone slab, and on his way back, stuffed back the snow and ice he had previously cleared.

Moments later, he returned to the surface—or more precisely, the ice surface.

This ice trench perfectly shielded him from the observers on the Base side.

However, Sean Knight then left the ice trench and looking at the sun, just a little higher than the horizon, shouldered his camera and walked off into the distance.

In the far distance, there was a colony of penguins huddling together. A group of skuas circled the penguins—evidently hoping to actually catch a penguin to eat.

Sean Knight had seen the videos of skuas swallowing snow rabbits and penguin chicks whole. It was truly cruel.

But as he had said to Judy Morris, he could not intervene.

Sean Knight walked about ten kilometers out and finally arrived near the penguins.

He took out his camera and began to take photos, not just of penguin parents taking care of their chicks but also of the skuas harassing the little penguins.

In the end, Sean Knight couldn’t bear it and chased away a skua that was dragging off a penguin chick.

Anyway, I’m not the real William Tom, nor a real biologist, so why bother with so much?

The skuas were quite afraid of the big guy, but the penguin chick, having been helped by Sean Knight, actually ran over and squeezed into the gap between his legs, seemingly seeking warmth or help.

The skua kept circling overhead, looking for an opportunity, but how could Sean Knight give it a chance?

But to Sean Knight’s surprise, the parents of the little penguin chick didn’t come to look for it—when the skua was chased away, the adult penguins were also startled and came over to take their chicks back.

The penguins were not very afraid of Sean Knight; a few even tilted their heads curiously as they looked at him.

They looked adorably goofy.

Could it be that the chick’s parents are gone?

Sean Knight looked back toward the direction of the Base, hardly able to see anything now.

He took out several fish from his spatial realm and offered them to the little penguin.

Starving, the little penguin couldn’t wait to gobble them down.

Sean Knight was not in a hurry. To shake off suspicion, he needed plenty of time outdoors to do what a biologist should do.

After the little penguin had its fill, there were still quite a few fish left. Two other penguin chicks, seeing what was happening, waddled over, wanting to eat fish.

Sean Knight was not stingy and shared the remaining fish with the two chicks. Their parents were watching from not far away, occasionally calling out but not coming over.

They coexisted very harmoniously.

Sean Knight felt he had gained their trust, and that was a good thing.

He wasn’t a real biologist and didn’t quite understand the rationale that interfering with the natural living environment and participating in the animals’ lives could cause them trouble after leaving.

Having gone this far, what’s there not to do?

Further off, a line of black dots appeared with occasional calls being heard.

Sean Knight stood up and realized they were penguins, waddling towards this direction.

Sean Knight guessed they must be returning from hunting in the sea.

Could any of them be the parents of the little penguin that had become attached to him?

There should be, right?

Sean Knight decided to wait. Once the penguins returned, he would hand over the little penguin.

To his surprise, once the penguins returned to their group, none of the adult penguins came for this chick.

And at this time, the activity of the skuas in the sky also increased. Was it because it was busier now, making it easier to catch the little penguins?

A few adult penguins fought with the skuas, pecking them into disarray.

The little penguin chick, now full, snuggled up on Sean Knight’s shoes, close to his pant leg, and lowered its head as if to rest.

Dammit, is it taking me for its mom or dad?

Sean Knight felt he was in a bit of a pickle now.

How was he to raise this thing?

He couldn’t!

Another skua flew over, trying to snatch the little penguin, but was smacked down to the ground by Sean Knight’s slap.
