Chapter 1265: Chapter 635: Raising a White-Eyed Wolf!
Sean Knight drove back to the Courtyard, where the night had already fallen completely dark.
Those people hadn’t followed him, and Sean didn’t know whether they planned to make their move in the quiet of the night or if they simply hadn’t found the place yet.
Sean parked the car outside the Courtyard and walked in.
Just as he entered the Courtyard, he heard the sounds of a fierce argument coming from inside the house.
"...we can’t just leave! They’ve been good to us, and they need our help..."
This was the voice of Captain Wang’s son, Wang Tianlei, sounding very agitated.
"Help for what? Is it just because that girl brought you food for two days and now you feel grateful? Don’t forget, if it weren’t for her, our family wouldn’t have been captured in the first place!"
This was the voice of Captain Wang’s wife.
"Alright alright, stop arguing!" Captain Wang, playing the peacemaker with resignation, said, "We are still in danger! Tianlei, stop arguing with your mother. We got captured this time because you were careless. Xiao Juan, don’t blame him anymore. The child is inexperienced and bound to make mistakes... Thank goodness for Elijah Hastings and their boss, or we’d really be in trouble this time!"
Sean chuckled to himself; it seemed like Captain Wang wasn’t having an easy time either.
However, the source of danger still needed to be identified.
Just as he was about to enter, Wang Tianlei’s voice rose again:
"Even if they hadn’t saved us, we wouldn’t have been in trouble! Safa said they captured us because of the Holy Relic! As long as they get the Holy Relic, they have a way to fight against those invading their land... They are the victims; they captured us out of desperation..."
"Tianlei, you’ve been brainwashed! Even if they are victims, that doesn’t justify capturing us! Besides, this is their city! If their shenanigans here are discovered, our trouble would be much greater!"
Captain Wang was angry. How could his own son be so naive?
Elijah Hastings spoke up:
"Captain, Tianlei, stop it. Get ready, we need to leave here immediately. We must get out of the city tonight, or more people might come after us."
"Really? Doesn’t this place seem safe?" Captain Wang’s wife questioned, skeptical, "Looks quite remote to me, surely no one would discover this place, right?"
"That’s not the case. Sister-in-law," Lincoln Harrington explained, "We scoped out those Ruins before we rescued you. There were at least three groups of people watching. Maybe even those who captured you were being watched and now that they have what they want, they might be closing in!"
"Uncle Qin, do you know who those two groups of people are?" Eager from what he heard from Lincoln, Tianlei asked, "Tell me, where are those people?"
"Tianlei, where are your manners?" Captain Wang was truly angry this time, "What does it matter who those two groups are and where they are to us?"
"But, Safa and the rest are really struggling, they’re in a tough spot! I just wanted to help them..." Tianlei’s tone carried innocence and naivety.
Sean Knight sighed and knocked on the door.
The people inside immediately grew tense.
"Don’t be nervous, it’s me," Sean said.
"Boss, it’s great you’re okay," Douglas Cooper, the one closest to the door, quickly opened it.
"I’m fine, but we can’t stay here. They’ve discovered this place and will be here soon," Sean explained, "If there are no objections, let’s leave now."
"How did they find us so quickly?" Elijah was taken aback.
Just as Captain Wang was about to thank Sean, he was startled by the news and anxiously asked:
"Could it be... Has one of us been exposed?"
Tianlei’s expression turned slightly panicked; he looked down and then back up at Sean:
"Could it be they tracked you? You were the last one to come in—it must be you!"
"Tianlei, that’s rude!" Captain Wang flared up, giving his son a shove, "Mr. Knight has no obligation toward us, yet he risked his life to save us. Just now Uncle Ran said that he planned the whole operation. How could he be the one who’s been exposed?"
"Then who could it be?" Captain Wang’s wife looked at Sean with suspicion, "We weren’t followed when we got here, right?"
"Exactly!" Tianlei protested rebelliously, "If it’s not him, then who else could it be?"
Sean had originally not wanted to expose Tianlei, but seeing him denying and being ungrateful, he said coldly:
"Who else but you? If you hadn’t brought the tracker back with you, how could they possibly have found this place?"
"What?" Captain Wang looked from Sean to Tianlei, his eyes filled with disbelief!
"Boss, is that true?" Elijah and the others glanced at Sean, asking.
"Impossible! How could my son betray us?" Captain Wang’s wife outright refused to believe, "Young man, could you be mistaken?"
Her tone was turning hostile, and had it not been for what Elijah had said about Sean coming to rescue them on his own initiative, she might have turned antagonistic by now.
"You’re talking nonsense!" Tianlei’s face flushed with anger, pointing at Sean and accusing, "You’re slandering me!"
"Elijah, check the wallet in his chest pocket, there should be something inside!" Sean instructed.
"Don’t touch me!" Tianlei panicked upon hearing this and immediately backed away.
