Chapter 1262: Chapter 634: Thrilling Confrontation
The car returned to that courtyard again.
Sean Knight quietly entered the house and took out the leather bag, handing it to Elijah Hastings and said,
"There’s something magical inside, feel it for yourselves."
"What’s so magical?" Elijah Hastings asked, somewhat surprised as he opened the zipper.
He immediately felt the energy emanating from the scepters!
Sean had already dealt with the contents related to the fanaticism beforehand, otherwise, if Elijah and the others were to be exposed to it now, they might have gone mad.
"You three take turns absorbing it," Sean said. "We might have to return this scepter today, so absorb as much as you can while it’s free."
"Okay," Elijah laughed happily, then turned to Lincoln Harrington and said, "You go first."
"No, Captain Hastings, you should go first," Lincoln waved his hand.
Douglas Cooper also said, "Captain Hastings, you first, don’t be polite."
"Don’t rush, there’s plenty of energy here," Sean, seeing the three of them deferring to each other, said laughing:
"Even if you three absorbed for one week, you might not be able to deplete it."
"Then I really won’t be polite," Elijah took the scepter and went to his own room.
Sean returned to the master bedroom he occupied, took out a bedsheet from the spatial realm, spread it on the original owner’s bed, and lay down.
This trip had been quite fruitful, it was time to go back.
Hopefully, nothing messy would happen.
At noon, Elijah handed the scepter back to Sean.
Sean found that the remaining energy had been absorbed by about one-tenth by Elijah and the others.
He could also see that Elijah’s energy was almost at its peak now.
Wondering if he would level up.
Sean didn’t hesitate to absorb all of the remaining energy.
It would be a waste to leave it.
As the sun was about to set, Sean and his team drove out of the courtyard.
When they left, they cleaned up any traces of their visit. If all went well, they probably wouldn’t come back again.
Before leaving, Sean jokingly left one thousand dollars under the pillow in the master bedroom, considering it a lodging fee.
The car approached a crossroads about a kilometer or two from the ruins.
There was a parking lot next to a park, and Sean’s car was parked at the entrance of the parking lot.
The letter given to those people designated the center sculpture in the park as the exchange location—surrounded by open visibility, so if those people wanted to cause trouble, they would have to weigh the consequences.
Sean and Elijah got out of the car, while Douglas Cooper and Lincoln remained inside.
"Big Fly, do you think they’ll honestly hand over the platoon leader?" Douglas asked, a bit concerned.
As he spoke, he already took out his gun.
Even though Sean reiterated countless times that guns should not be used unless absolutely necessary,
Douglas knew that today was not an ordinary day, and among those people, no one could say for sure if a few brainless fanatics might be present.
"I don’t know, hopefully, everything will go smoothly," Lincoln said. "I just hope we can safely pick up the platoon leader and go home."
He was assembling a sniper rifle unhurriedly.
The sniper rifle Sean gave him this time was not long and could be used freely in the car—there was a silencer at the front.
After Sean and Elijah got out of the car, Elijah, acting as the overt exchanger, wore a hoodie, carried a backpack, hands in pockets, and with his head down, wandered nearby.
Sean, dressed like a local in a long trench coat, observed the surroundings from a distance.
They arrived forty minutes earlier than the exchange time, but Sean guessed that those people had probably already familiarized themselves with the surroundings and might even have some people in ambush.
Under the watch of Sky Eye, all ambushes were visible.
Indeed, he saw on a bench nearby, two young people pretending to be lovers, heads down in intimacy, the man with a gun tucked in his waist, not actually kissing, but whispering something to the girl, who seemed resistant.
In the opposite direction, a man with a dog occasionally glanced over here although he seemed to be handling his pet.
Near the sculpture, someone appeared to be drawing the sculpture of a woman holding a bottle, and within the backpack on the ground, there was a submachine gun.
Sean had not discovered any other ambushes yet, but these were enough.
The opponent was certainly not easy to handle.
Sean approached the supposed lovers, stopped by them, and pretending to tie his shoelaces, suddenly asked,
"Did you drop something?"
The two young people instantly tensed up and looked at Sean.
When their eyes met, their expressions turned bewildered.
A minute later, Sean walked away, and his spatial realm now contained a few more bullets.
After doing the same trick elsewhere, he returned with a recoil spring from a submachine gun and a hand grenade in his spatial realm.
Then he found an empty bench, took out a book from within his clothes, and began to read seriously.
Elijah had sat down early in front of a flowerbed opposite the sculpture, quietly waiting.
When the exchange time arrived, Sean scanned the surroundings with his peripheral vision and quickly spotted a group of people approaching from the direction of the ruins, far away.
A few young people were chatting and laughing, like classmates, with a few adults behind them who looked like the parents of these youths.
Under the gaze of Sky Eye, one of the adults, a Chinese man in disguise, had his hands on his lower abdomen, wearing gloves, and was actually tied up.
