Chapter 1213: Chapter 617: The Real Hunt Has Just Begun!_2

This was all within expectations.

Sean Knight’s Sky Eye continued to scan.

Actually, there was still a bit of spatial realm in the back rooms of the villa, but some were too well-sealed, truly plastered inside the concrete walls.

There was a golden statue, for example, inside a concrete wall at the corner of the second floor. Similarly, in a bedroom on the third floor, a small safe was embedded in the wall, housing a set of jewelry made from gold and gemstones.

Their age indicated they might have been used by nobles centuries ago.

They were too cumbersome to retrieve, so Sean didn’t pay them much attention.

He was still eager to find the items inside that box.

To Sean, the attraction of the items inside was quite strong.

Moreover, he could feel that, compared to the "Fire Order," the energy contained inside was relatively serene—that of the Fire Order was a bit too fanatical.

Sean strolled slowly inside the villa, took a round, and eventually made no additional discoveries.

He reached the basement.

There, he was slightly surprised; he could sense that there had been some residue of the energy from the box, but it had left probably a few years ago.

It wasn’t the general who removed it; it must have been the previous owner of the villa who had relocated the items inside.

Although somewhat reluctant, Sean figured it was time to leave. At least he had gained something substantial.

If the general knew that such a vast treasure had been hidden in the villa where he lived for a year or two and that someone else had taken it, he might vomit blood.

After all, Afghanistan might be a country, but it is also one of the least developed in the world.

A treasure worth several million dollars might be more than what several generals in this city could muster!

The team members had turned the entire villa upside down and come up empty, their faces etched with disappointment, as they gathered on the first floor.

"Don’t be disheartened, everyone," Sean said with a smile. "If we didn’t find it, it means the items aren’t here. Let’s go. In fact, I did find something. I’ll give out bonuses when we get back, no less than 10,000 US dollars each!"

A 10,000-dollar bonus was substantial—equal to the annual wages of many for just one night’s work. Although the team members eased up a bit, they weren’t particularly happy.

Sean internally reflected that it was probably an imprint from their time in the army; not finding anything yet receiving an award was a consolation that might even feel worse to them.

"I didn’t deceive you, I truly found something," Sean gestured. "Alright, let’s leave here. Let’s see if there’s anywhere else in the manor we can search."

The manor had more than just the villa. Once outside, Sean and his team looked to the west.

There lay a row of two-story buildings, according to the intelligence Lincoln Harrington had acquired before, were for guards, servants, and housed a tool shed.

The team members grew visibly more excited upon hearing Sean’s words.

Even though there were patrol guards outside, they finally had a chance to do something worthy of the 10,000-dollar bonus Sean spoke of.

Otherwise, the money would just burn a hole in their pockets!

"Let’s head over there," Sean whispered.

They dispersed and quietly made their way towards the buildings.

The chatting of patrolling soldiers carried over from a distance; Sean and his team were not alarmed.

It was now past midnight, street lamps extinguished, and visibility inside the villa quite low.

In contrast, those few patrolling soldiers were quite lax, their voices not loud but clear enough in the night.

As such, they could easily pinpoint their location.

There was no one in the two-story buildings—that general hadn’t taken Sean as a real opponent and simply wanted to teach him a lesson, so he wouldn’t guard so rigorously.

Upon reaching the outside of the buildings, Sean instructed his team members to search while he used his Sky Eye to take a preliminary look, only to feel disappointed shortly thereafter.

The two-story buildings were quite ordinary and appeared to have been recently cleaned; some old lawnmowers and other tools were present, but many parts were barren.

The rooms were numerous, but the furnishings were outdated, with no signs of recent habitation.

It was evident, even after the general moved here, no one had lived there.

There were almost no signs of disturbance, and in some places, the dust was thick.

Scanning with his Sky Eye, Sean found no mezzanine or basement.

It looked like another miss.

minutes later, the team members emerged from the building, their expressions now more normal.

After all, it’s easier to get used to disappointment after the second time.

"To the swimming pool," Sean directed, marking the last location for tonight.

After checking there, all that remained would be to withdraw.

After all, dawn was nearing.

The water in the swimming pool had turned murky, unclear what had been dumped inside.

The team members stood at the edge of the pool, unsure how to proceed with the search.

Sean approached and on closer inspection, to his astonishment, he noticed there was indeed a secret compartment at the bottom of the pool!

And inside that compartment, there was a glowing item—it was a parchment scroll!

However, at this moment, it was placed inside an iron box, wrapped in several layers of oil paper, and the compartment had been waterproofed, so no water had seeped in.

But retrieving it presented some difficulty.

Firstly, the entire pool needed to be drained, as it had been contaminated with filthy substances—if the water had been clean, Sean could have dived down, opened the secret compartment, and retrieved the items.

But in this water... well, Sean refrained from describing, suffice to say it was slightly better than a cesspool.
