Chapter 1197: Chapter 612: The Overwhelming "Locusts" Are Coming!
By the time the second batch of treasures was harvested, the rest of the team, including Cheryl Suweton, had already gone to sleep, so only Sean Knight and Elijah Hastings’s group of four knew about it.
Therefore, when Sean Knight took the items away, no one else thought anything of it.
Seeing Sean Knight driving away, Elijah Hastings returned to The Camp and began to pack up.
He had firm faith in Sean Knight’s judgment. After all, Sean Knight’s judgment had seldom been wrong during their ventures.
In fact, Sean Knight hadn’t driven very far. He entered the Forest, circled around for a bit, and then stopped before storing all the Gold products and gemstones from Inside the car into his spatial realm.
Afterward, he wandered through the Forest again, preparing for the next step.
About two hours later, Sean Knight arrived back at The Camp, just as the daylight had brightened considerably and the others had also gotten up.
Watching Elijah Hastings organize the team to pack up the tents and goods, some were making breakfast while others were collecting items, all in a tense but orderly fashion.
The morning air was a bit chilly. Cheryl Suweton’s hair was casually tied up with a band, wearing a button-front cardigan over a tank top vest, and Jeans below, as she bent over to pack her things.
At the sound of the car, seeing Sean Knight returning, she put down her small package, ran over happily, and took Sean Knight’s arm, asking:
"Where did you go? I didn’t see you this morning and thought you were still on the boat."
Without waiting for Sean Knight to answer, she quickly added:
"When I got up and found myself not on the boat but in The Camp, I got a shock. I thought something had happened, like I had been kidnapped. But then I vaguely remembered it must have been you who carried me back, and I felt relieved."
Sean Knight replied with a smile:
"Is everything packed up?"
"Not yet." Cheryl Suweton frowned prettily, "Some stuff doesn’t seem very useful, but it feels like a waste to throw it away."
"There’s no rush." Sean Knight could probably understand that feeling, as most people go through it when first practicing minimalism, "We still have some time."
"Boss, we’re running out of time." Elijah Hastings came over and said, "The Port sent a message that many fishing boats have been booked in advance today, and it’s mostly foreigners who’ve made the bookings."
"Then notify them to hurry back, we should pack up first," Sean Knight said. "It’s okay, even if they come, there will be a process. As long as we are ready to leave at any moment, we’ll be fine."
Saying this, he also began to pack his luggage.
All other tents had been taken down, with only his tent remaining. Sean Knight’s belongings were simple; he packed everything inside into his backpack. Noticing Cheryl Suweton still sorting through her things, he asked:
"Do you need help?"
Seeing that Sean Knight had finished packing, Cheryl Suweton’s face flushed slightly, "No need, I’m almost done here."
Sean Knight didn’t hurry her and went to wash his hands, ready for breakfast. He could already smell the delicious scent of the food.
Cheryl Suweton stopped sorting as well, deciding to stuff everything into her backpack like Sean Knight, thinking she would sort it all out when she had free time later.
Breakfast was simple: mixed wild vegetables, mixed Deer Meat, Porridge, plus staple steamed buns—the kind they’d brought with them.
"This kind of steamed bun is only palatable outdoors," Elijah Hastings commented while eating, "Definitely not suitable for everyday."
"Exactly, just like the Pre-made meals everyone’s been discussing lately. They’re an option, but shouldn’t be mandatory, and definitely not something to give to kids who can’t tell the difference."
With the mission almost over and a hefty Bonus on the horizon, Everyone was in good spirits, chatting and laughing over the meal.
Only Cheryl Suweton asked Sean Knight in a low voice:
"Have those items been sent off yet?"
"Yes, all very safe," Sean Knight nodded, then announced loudly:
"We might face an inspection. So, let’s get our story straight. We indeed salvaged some items Underwater, but it was only Pottery shards and pieces of stone carvings. We didn’t find anything else, understand?"
"Understood!"
The other team members, of course, weren’t foolish; they knew that if word leaked out, their finds might be confiscated.
This involved their own Bonus, so they would definitely be cautious about it.
Cheryl Suweton appeared conflicted, though she knew it wasn’t entirely right, she didn’t have a better solution.
Sean Knight knew her thoughts and said with a smile: "This Lake Baikal, it’s actually our North Sea. Su Wu Herding Sheep took place here. However, over four hundred years ago, it was cut away to the Russians with Wild Boar Skin. Sigh..."
His sigh induced a fair amount of discussion among the team members:
"Those Russians were truly greedy back then."
"They are still greedy. Lenin once said he’d annul all the unequal treaties they signed with us, but he never fulfilled that."
"Now the Russians have raised three flags, effectively inheriting the legacies of Tsarist Russia and the Soviet Union. Who knows if they will reconsider those unequal treaties with us..."
They debated in Mandarin, and though Cheryl Suweton could understand simple phrases, the more complex discourse eluded her.
She looked to Sean Knight for help.
Sean Knight translated the conversation to her as he ate.
After breakfast, Sean Knight’s ears picked up a sound, and he immediately said:
"There’s a car coming, let’s pack up quickly."
No sooner had they finished loading the car and not everyone had boarded when two vehicles sped to the site, stopping where James’s Camp had previously been.
Although dismantled, traces were still evident.
Five or six individuals alighted from the two vehicles, some observing The Camp, while others began unloading Equipment, seemingly preparing to set up tents.
