Chapter 1195: Chapter 611 Trouble Comes, Let’s Hurry Up!_2
Before going into the water, the area had already been demarcated, so this time they directly switched to a different one.
Cheryl Suweton felt a bit scared when she first descended, as it was pitch-black, and despite having a headlamp, the visibility wasn’t high.
Fortunately, Sean Knight stayed by her side the whole time. Even though they couldn’t talk, their close proximity significantly boosted Cheryl’s sense of security.
Sean pretended to dig with a shovel at the lake bottom now and then, checking what he dug up.
Under his influence, Cheryl started to search carefully as well.
The two of them took slightly different directions, and the distance between them grew a bit.
In reality, Sean had Sky Eye on the entire time. There wasn’t much in this area, but the process had to appear genuine.
In the vicinity of several tens of meters around, there was nothing of value. Thus, Sean wasn’t in a hurry and "performed" underwater alongside Cheryl.
As expected, by the time the oxygen cylinder was nearly empty, Cheryl clearly ran out of energy and surfaced, no longer asking to dive again.
Sean didn’t rotate out; after Douglas Cooper surfaced, Elijah Hastings followed him down. Before going, everyone had their dinner.
Yang Yongqiang quietly reported to Lincoln Harrington that the captain had visited the kitchen earlier, saw Yang Yongqiang there but didn’t say anything. However, since he went there twice in succession, it seemed somewhat unusual.
"That’s simple," Sean retrieved a package of medicine and handed it to Lincoln, "Let Yang Yongqiang make some good food for the captain and the sailors. This stuff is to cure their ’insomnia’."
Lincoln took the medicine and went to find Yang Yongqiang. He too thought this was a better, more permanent solution.
Indeed, after Sean and the others finished their dinner and rested for a moment, preparing to dive once more before the sunset, the captain and his crew were already "resting."
Cheryl volunteered to monitor the situation with the large fish from the radar room, and Sean let her be.
After donning the diving suits, Sean said to the other team members before diving, "This time we’ve switched areas; space out a bit more from each other, broaden the search range. We don’t have much time left."
With that, everyone immediately felt a sense of urgency.
After all, every treasure found meant an increase in their bonus.
In these times, who would ever want to conflict with money?
After several people dived in, Sean was still surrounded in the middle, but this time they were spaced at least thirty meters apart.
Everyone’s shovels didn’t stop moving, occasionally probing, and from time to time one could see the flickering of another team member’s headlamp. Having gotten used to it, they no longer looked up but busied themselves with their tasks.
Scanning with Sky Eye, Sean still found nothing of value nearby. There were holes, but they contained nothing worth money, just rocks and pottery shards; Sean thus didn’t bother to dig further.
A waste of time.
This trip, nearly one hour passed without any findings.
When they returned to the boat, the team members were somewhat disheartened, none of them spoke.
Sean, seeing everyone in low spirits, said with a laugh,
"Don’t get discouraged, everyone. Think about it, the items we brought up on that one trip are worth tens of millions. If every trip were like that, wouldn’t there be too many treasures underwater?
So, if there’s just one productive trip out of ten, then the number in your red envelopes would be enough for you to live comfortably for ten years!"
With Sean’s words, everyone’s mood visibly improved.
Elijah even felt a bit embarrassed. It did make sense—following Sean on a treasure hunt had been remarkably lucky each time. After all, overall they never came back empty-handed.
Compared to international treasure hunting records, which often involved searching for a treasure for years or even decades before finding anything, their results—similar to Sean’s haul this time—perhaps weren’t even as good.
It seemed their expectations were set too high because they started off on such a high note.
With this mindset adjusted, they started to chat and laugh again.
Indeed, they had already secured a significant red envelope. Whatever came next was a bonus. Although there was nothing this time, there was still time left—who could guarantee there would be nothing on the next trip?
Half an hour later, they dove again.
Another half an hour later, they dove again.
These people were truly prepared for an all-nighter.
If it weren’t for Elijah bringing enough oxygen cylinders from the fishing port, everyone would probably have had to rest by now.
At three in the morning, the boat had changed locations three times, and the only ones who could dive were Sean Knight, Elijah Hastings, and Lincoln Harrington.
Douglas stayed above to deal with any emergencies; the others had all gone to rest.
Diving was indeed extremely exhausting.
Of course, Sean and his team were not ordinary people.
After diving in, the three separated and each searched at the lake’s bottom.
This would be their last venture. After this dive, regardless of whether or not they found anything, they planned to leave. The nearby areas had been essentially searched through, and further on, there was a large fissure at the lake’s bottom, like a fault line, with depths reaching several hundreds of meters which Sean and his team didn’t intend to explore.
That was almost it.
The few men hovered over the plateau outside the deep groove. Logically speaking, it wasn’t likely that anything would be there. Even if there were, it would have been washed into the deep groove by the water.
However, Sean felt that since they had already checked nearly all the areas, having taken ninety-nine steps, they shouldn’t falter at this final one.
Sean’s Sky Eye remained on, but the water below the fault was too deep to see clearly.
At that moment, Elijah slowly came over, pointing in that direction.
