Chapter 1180: Chapter 606: Are you in Mongolia? Hurry over! There’s big cargo here!_2
Lana Brown was quite career-driven, and having such a big island to work on naturally made her very happy. She was also very grateful that Sean Knight trusted her so much.
Therefore, among all of Sean Knight’s industries, the island’s revenue was the highest at the moment. It wasn’t just the tourism industry; Lana Brown had also established some factories, including seafood products, decorations, and handicrafts. Later, Sean Knight also moved the wood and furniture factories there, increasing the industrial variety even further.
Of course, the main source of income was still tourism. The place had already become the top choice for domestic tourists going to the seaside—not only because it doesn’t rip people off, but also because it offered a domestic experience with foreign charm, as well as more affordable prices for both seafood and handicrafts. It was even possible to go out to sea and fish.
The area’s abundance in marine resources and the domestic support allowed for direct flights and visa on arrival, making it very convenient.
Now, Lana Brown was indeed a busy person. According to what she told Sean Knight, there was even a young magnate from a large financial group in Indonesia who was pursuing her.
She was naturally very happy to receive a phone call from Sean Knight.
"I’m currently in Mongolia and will visit you when I’m free," Sean Knight said after learning about the basic situation.
"There’s been a problem with a mine here in Mongolia, with the Japanese causing trouble, but it’s been resolved. They’re now targeting me, infiltrating my industries. I just wanted to remind you to be careful not to get outwitted."
"Dear, don’t worry. I’m on high alert," Lana Brown said, laughing. "After going through so many deceptions, a small matter like this can’t fool me."
Actually, Lana Brown had not told Sean Knight that she had already encountered similar situations, not just once. At first, she was targeted with a seduction trap, then she set up a countertrap with the security personnel, directly taking down a gang.
Later on, someone pretended to seek investment cooperation with the aim of scamming the local tourism industry and even planned to dump "black water" into it. But Lana Brown was well-prepared, and with timely detection by the security personnel, those people’s conspiracy failed, and they even lost quite a sum of the bait funds they’d invested.
For Lana Brown, these kinds of incidents were minor. Having experienced so much from a young age, she wasn’t afraid to suspect others of the greatest malice. So although she missed out on some opportunities, she was never deceived even once.
After all, in her view, guarding such a big island allowed for the possibility of a greatly expansive business—much bigger than anything she had imagined before. So why bother with anything else?
Lana Brown’s attitude reassured Sean Knight greatly, and he promised to visit the big island when he had the time.
After hanging up, Sean Knight made phone calls to the oil fields, coal mines, and grain fields to give a heads-up before he thought of the lithium mine.
Since Lincoln Harrington had just recently visited there and had reported back to Sean Knight, the local tribes were collaborating well, so Sean Knight didn’t make another call.
Initially, Sean Knight had planned to hire security personnel after finishing things up here, appoint a qualified management staff, and then let go of the reins.
But the following phone call made Sean Knight realize that his plans were thwarted once again.
The person calling was Cheryl Suweton, whom he hadn’t been in contact with for a while.
"Dear, where are you?" Cheryl Suweton asked.
"I’m in Mongolia, dealing with some issues," Sean Knight knew that Cheryl Suweton calling meant there was something important, so he asked directly, "Where are you?"
"You’re in Mongolia? That’s great! Come find me, I’m at Lake Baikal. I’ve discovered an ancient city ruin here, but it’s underwater. It’s the perfect opportunity for you to come and see!"
The location of Lake Baikal materialized in Sean Knight’s mind, and considering it wasn’t too far from his current location, he said:
"Alright, send me your location, and we’ll come over in the next two days."
After hanging up, Sean Knight called over Elijah Hastings and the other two, sharing the upcoming plans.
"How does the boss plan to get there?" Elijah Hastings asked.
"I plan to do it the same way as this trip, with you three and some additional team members," Sean Knight explained, "Now that the remnants of the Chrysanthemum Organization are in the shadows and we’re exposed, we still need to be cautious."
"That’s a good approach," Elijah Hastings responded. "Underwater treasure hunting, we’ve never really had a proper go at it. The only time was those couple of occasions on the island, and this time we’ll really get to enjoy it."
"I heard Lake Baikal is really deep!" Douglas Cooper interjected. "I saw a photo of it where Baikal seemed like layer upon layer going down, like an endless crevice!"
Sean Knight laughed and said:
"That’s just to make a strong impression, it’s not actually like that."
"Not real? Impossible, right? Isn’t Lake Baikal the deepest lake on the mainland?"
"Lake Baikal is indeed the deepest lake in the world and the biggest lake in Eurasia," Sean Knight stated, "But to say it looks like that picture online, that would be an exaggeration. Think about it, the deepest part of the lake is over 1600 meters deep, looks impressive, right?"
"Of course, over a kilometer deep—our deepest dive has only been about 100 meters, right?"
"But the thing is, Lake Baikal is elongated, with the narrowest part being twenty-eight kilometers wide." Sean Knight reached for his mobile phone to make a visual comparison:
"One thousand six hundred meters is one point six kilometers. If you do the math, compare the deepest part with the narrowest part, and use the scale of the military topographical models you guys learned about. Roughly speaking, it’s width is about as long as the phone, and its depth would be the thickness of the phone.
So when you compare it like that, does it look like that picture online?"
"Twenty-eight to one point six..." As Douglas Cooper made the comparison, his face showed sudden realization, "That’s right, just like the phone. When you compare it like that, it really doesn’t seem so deep after all—"
