Chapter 1170: Chapter 603 Shall We Be Second-hand Dealers Too?

Sean Knight hadn’t had the chance to call Jason Caldwell when Jason’s call came through.

"Boss, did you know? That Latino gang that kept harassing us, wanting us to give up our territory, they’re all dead! The police have sealed off their hideout, saying there were toxic substances stored there... Boss, was it you who did it?"

"You’re joking, right? How could it be me? I’m a law-abiding citizen!" Sean used a burner phone to call Paul Walker, the person on the other end couldn’t hear him, so he spoke a bit more cryptically.

Now that Jason was calling and making such blatant suggestions, he certainly couldn’t admit to anything.

With how serious the Americans’ phone tapping is, how could he possibly confess?

"It wasn’t?" Jason’s voice carried an obvious hint of disappointment, "I thought it was your handiwork!"

"Stop with the wild guesses! It was probably the work of the police. After all, the other party had it coming; why deal with illegal goods? We mustn’t handle such stuff in our freight yard!"

"Don’t worry, boss." As soon as they talked about this, Jason immediately became serious, "We’re running a legitimate business and wouldn’t do things like that. Anyway, boss, are you coming over?"

"No, I’m not going," Sean said, "I trust you to manage the freight yard. By the way, remember to thank the police station and report everything you know about the Latino Americans’ issues to them. To be a law-abiding citizen, one should provide clues to the police, got it?"

Jason got it in a second.

After hanging up, Sean knew this matter was pretty much settled. With the Latino gang gone, even if another gang emerged nearby, they’d tread lightly around Jason’s territory.

After all, that gang had targeted Jason and his group, and now they were unscathed while the gang was completely wiped out, it was clear to anyone this had something to do with them.

Just as Sean was planning to see Joanna Davis again to rekindle their romance, Kathy Lewis called him.

"Mr. Knight, there’s something I need to report to you."

When had Kathy become so cautious?

"Aunty Kathy, go ahead, what is it?"

"I don’t know how long it’s been since you last paid attention to that gold mine in Mongolia? I used to get a mining report every month from the friend I introduced to you.

But for the last two months, I haven’t received any reports. I made a phone call and was told that you had sent a new manager there and that the handover was complete. Is this true?"

"Absolutely not!" Sean knew there was a problem!

How could he possibly change the manager and the management process when Kathy was so reliable?

There was definitely an issue, and it was most likely a serious one!

Sean felt he needed to make a trip to Mongolia himself.

Edward Shermer had been quite reliable before, which is why Sean had entrusted the matter to him.

At that time, to hide his Chinese identity, he had availed the power of Kathy’s connections without publicly acknowledging the gold mine as his own.

Now, it seemed, this was a mistake.

It was time to reveal his true strength and face!

He wondered whether the problem lay with Edward or someone else?

Right, he had appointed the local herdsman Antony Carter as the security captain back then; by all accounts, there shouldn’t have been any issues?

Sean scratched his head, puzzled; it appeared he had to go in person to find out.

Of course, Sean had no plans to go by himself, given the serious dangers in that location and considering he was no longer operating under his former identity.

So, this matter required careful planning.

The monthly revenue from the gold mine wasn’t that substantial; it didn’t even compare to Jason’s freight yard.

But that was one of Sean’s initial ventures, and he couldn’t let go.

To put it bluntly, if he was double-crossed and couldn’t reclaim it, he would rather destroy it than let those people have it.

Sean called Elijah Hastings.

"Boss, what’s up?"

It was already night for Elijah.

"In five days, we’re heading to Mongolia. There’s been some trouble at the gold mine. Bring more brothers; we’ll fly there on our own plane. Start gathering people, and make sure they can fight."

In such a place, Sean couldn’t help but worry—after all, many locals had a certain attitude towards the Chinese.

After speaking with Elijah, Sean thought for a bit and then called Edward.

He wanted to ask directly what was going on.

But Edward didn’t pick up.

Sean then knew that the issue was definitely not going to be resolved easily.

All he could do was wait until he was there to sort things out.

After stepping out of the villa and taking a walk outside, Sean decided to put this matter aside for now.

After all, there was no point in fretting about it before getting there.

Fortunately, his energy was useful, and he quickly dispelled his agitation.

With nothing else pressing, Sean went to find Joanna.

Not having seen her for so long and with her affections unchanged, Sean decided to make it up to the lovely girl.

Five days later, Sean flew back to China first.

In the Capital city’s quadrangle courtyard, Elijah Hastings, Lincoln Harrington, Douglas Cooper were present, along with a team of over a dozen spirited young men.

"Why did you gather them all here?" Sean was surprised, "Weren’t Lincoln and Douglas on their honeymoon?"

"Come on, boss, stop joking." Lincoln’s face flushed; he had indeed just come from Africa.

With his girlfriend in Africa and not being able to come back often, Lincoln went there whenever he had the chance. Though, to call it a honeymoon was a bit of a stretch.

"Boss, I heard there’s trouble in Mongolia?" Douglas’s face also reddened, and instead of letting Sean continue, he took the initiative, "How could we not be involved in something like this?"
