Chapter 1148: Chapter 595: The Sacred Tree is Mine? This is a Big Project! _3
There was no other way, Sean Knight wanted to retrieve the other segments of the Sacred Trees as quickly as possible.
Or the Tree of Life.
He wasn’t sure why the warriors of the Ancient City Tribe were shouting and fighting against two Amazon warriors right now, one of whom was already injured, a dangerous situation!
Sean Knight walked towards the nearest light.
According to the information transmitted from the Tree of Life, there was a Tree Stump in that location, belonging to a Tribe that wasn’t very large, even smaller than the Amazon Tribe, but it had not been discovered due to its secretive Location.
One day later, Sean Knight had reached that Tribe.
He sensed the Tree Stump, indeed just a few hundred Meters Ahead.
However, what surprised Sean Knight was the silence that hung over the place.
Even at Noon, there should be activity in a Tribe, right?
But, whether in plain sight or through Sky Eye, there was no human presence Nearby.
There was a large Marshland Nearby, and many Vines, making it even more concealed than the Amazon Eva tribe.
However, there were also many wild animals in the vicinity, and numerous delicious-looking fruits hung from the Trees or lay fallen on the ground, unpicked.
When it came to Food, there certainly was no shortage here.
Sean Knight could almost be sure that wherever there was a segment of the Tree of Life Trunk, food would not be lacking.
But still, there was utter silence.
Sean Knight walked forward, Gun in hand.
He saw one set of white bones, then another.
The closer he got to the Tree of Life, the more white bones he found.
Soon after, Sean Knight saw the Tribe building hidden under the Vines and shrubbery.
There was no ancient city here, just a few dozen Straw Huts and Wooden Cabins.
Now only about a dozen remained intact; the rest had collapsed a long time ago.
Sets of white bones lay inside and outside these dwellings, the bones showing no marks of injury.
Finally, on the north side of this Tribe, Sean Knight found the Tree Stump that had been encased in Vines.
About three meters tall, it was slightly taller and thicker than the Sacred Tree segment in the Eva Tribe.
However, it was covered in moss. If not for Sean Knight’s sensitivity, one would not have found it or ever suspected that this seemingly worthless Tree Stump was a segment of the Tree of Life!
Sean Knight put away his Gun and pulled out his machete, cutting through the Vines to approach the Tree of Life.
A snake as thick as a bowl was coiled around the Tree of Life. When it saw Sean Knight approaching, it opened its mouth wide, threatening him.
With a swing of his machete, Sean Knight attempted to scare it away, but the snake lunged at him instead.
The machete swung, and the serpent’s head fell.
Sean Knight picked up the snake’s body; it would provide him a good meal later—there were no parasites on it, as seen through Sky Eye!
Then, touching the Tree Stump, he felt the Energy within, the Branches and Leaves were sparse but not a problem.
After collecting the Tree Stump, Sean Knight walked back into the Middle of the Tribe.
There was Food and bones in the Straw Huts, which meant the tribal residents hadn’t starved to death.
With no wounds on the body, they weren’t killed by violence.
So there was only one possibility, an infectious disease.
Sean Knight could imagine the scene, where the entire tribe had fallen ill, unable to move, and one by one succumbed to the illness.
A dreadful fate!
He did not disturb the Tribe further, taking the snake and leaving.
About two kilometers from the Tribe, Sean Knight set up a tent by the bank of a Small River, taking out things like an Alcohol Stove, a pot, a chopping board, and a small table, and began to process the snake.
Although there was ready-to-eat food In Space, and it would still be hot when taken out, Sean Knight wanted to taste the snake right now.
Cooking a snake soup, roasting the Meat, and making some braised snake too, the flavors were surprisingly good!
After eating his fill and quenching his thirst, Sean Knight packed up his belongings and resumed his journey.
The leftover snake Meat was left behind, to be dealt with by the animals of the jungle.
Not long after Sean Knight left, a creature, half-human, half-monkey, crept over to the spot.
In his hand was a half-eaten monkey—However, he quickly dropped the bloodied creature and began picking up the cooked snake Meat left by Sean Knight—cooked Meat tasted so good!
The creature looked in the direction Sean Knight had gone, wanting to follow but stood still, stopped by fear.
The Opponent was too powerful; there was no way to fight back!
Two days later, Sean Knight arrived at another Tribe.
This Tribe was also much smaller than the one where Amazon Eva resided.
There were about a dozen Straw Sheds and dozens of people could be seen playing, scuffling, or eating.
There were also about a dozen warriors, but they weren’t out Hunting right now.
With so many edible items in the jungle, they only needed to make a trip every few days.
This Tribe had learned to use fire, and some of the Meat was even smoked for preservation.
Yet, after observing for a long time, Sean Knight realized there were no priests within this Tribe!
The most revered person in the tribe was a figure akin to a chief.
He was aged and his body lacked any trace of the Tree of Life’s aura.
And the Tree of Life in this Tribe was placed beside a Straw Hut on the South Side of the Tribe.
The tribal residents showed no reverence for this Trunk of the Tree of Life. Children climbed on it, and a Branch extending from it had been tied with rattan, used as a support for drying items!
The Branches and Leaves on the segment were pulled apart haphazardly, not for eating or medicinal use, but simply as toys for mischievous children.
Sean Knight could tell that probably no one in the current Tribe knew the purpose of the Tree of Life’s segment. There were also chop marks on it—was it used as firewood?
With this discovery, Sean Knight had a plan.
At night, as the bonfire in the Tribe was about to die down and everyone had gone into the Straw Huts, except for two warriors on watch, there were no other people outside.
Sean Knight waited until the latter half of the night when the watchful warriors were dozing off. He stealthily approached the Tree of Life segment, first removing the rattan tied to it and securing it in another place, and then gathered the Tree of Life segment.
In the end, he left Ten bags of rice as a trade, then quietly left the place.
Without stopping, Sean Knight advanced toward the next target!
