Chapter 1147: Chapter 595: The Sacred Tree is Mine? This is a Big Project! _2
Sunshine filtered through the crevices of the tree leaves, casting specks of gold across the grassland and rendering the earth a tapestry of dapples.
Sean Knight stretched languidly, rinsed himself with water, and delightedly sipped a bowl of millet pumpkin porridge and nibbled on fragrant bean curd rolls with a side of vegetables.
After he was full, he packed up the tent and iron wire mesh. Sean didn’t leave, though; instead, he cleared a large area and, with a "whoosh," set down the Sacred Tree Stump.
He just couldn’t figure out why, of the three Sacred Tree Stumps he had encountered, this was the only one that could shield the fluctuations of Life Energy.
Now that the old priest of that tribe was gone, perhaps no one else could sense this Sacred Tree Stump anymore, could they?
Of course, even if someone could sense it, Sean wasn’t afraid. After all, he hadn’t lost to the previous tribe, so naturally, he was even less afraid of the remaining few.
His hand touching the bark of the Sacred Tree, Sean slowly experienced it.
The tree contained a tremendous Vitality that circulated within, not leaking out. Aside from the growing Branches and Leaves, the Life Energy was almost imperceptible everywhere else.
To an observer, this appeared to be nothing more than an aged Tree Stump, old yet not dead—the end of its life not far off.
But Sean could feel that as soon as this Tree Stump was released, the surrounding plants perked up with vigor!
This fellow... mighty impressive!
No wonder the plants in the Ancient City were much larger than those in other places.
It turned out to be the doing of this Tree Stump!
Sean just couldn’t understand how the Tree Stump, without releasing Life Energy, could make the surrounding plants so vibrant.
He tried to start absorbing the energy here—he found that if he didn’t actively absorb it, the immense Life Energy contained within wouldn’t enter his body at all!
Well then, he would actively absorb it!
The moment he started absorbing, Sean noticed something unusual immediately!
As he absorbed the Life Energy from the Tree Stump, it didn’t resist but rather cooperated. However, the Life Energy transferred was not abundant, but stable.
This amount of Life Energy was suitable for Ordinary people, but for Sean, it was merely a drizzle!
He increased the intensity of his absorption. The Tree Stump responded—initially reluctant, then increasing the amount, reaching Sean’s required level a minute later.
Could this Tree Stump possess its own consciousness?
Sean closed his eyes and tried to communicate with the Tree Stump.
And then he was flabbergasted!
A torrent of information flowed into Sean’s Mind—accompanied by an immense amount of Energy!
Fortunately, the information was not cramming into Sean’s consciousness all at once but was being accepted bit by bit—like seeing Oil from an oil barrel funnel into a small oil pot through a thin Oil pipe. The Opponent didn’t intend to pour it all at once and knew it couldn’t be accepted all at once!
Then, like watching a movie, Sean saw the emergence and growth of this Forest. In his vision, a big tree, unlike the others, grew tall in a Vacant Land, towering above the rest.
Other trees slowly died, but this one thrived even more, and then it began to transfer Life Energy to the fledgling trees that were growing.
Eventually, the Forest became lush with trees, animals, and humans.
Humans initially descended from Tree-tops, then built Straw Huts, Wooden Cabins, and later villages and cities. The first and most prosperous city was built around this big tree!
Then more and more cities sprang up, Everyone sought after the big tree, leading to War—and finally, the tree that bestowed immense Life Energy to the Forest was cut down in the crossfire of war, and the city was destroyed in an instant.
The residents returned to a raw, primal age. The Sacred Tree, cut into pieces, eventually became a Totem for some Tribes—and at last, in Sean’s Mind, there were those six glowing points.
Six, yes, and one had vanished. Sean naturally knew that the one missing was currently in his spatial realm.
This Tree Stump was the root, so it contained the information it had witnessed, and it could also sense the Location of the rest of its body.
Of course, this did not mean it was "alive," with consciousness. It was merely more "human-like" than other trees due to its longer period of growth.
This was normal, and science could explain these phenomena—for instance, in the jungle, if a tree is felled, the surrounding trees of the same species can pick up its chemical signals, realizing that danger is present.
And these chemical signals are not vague; they possess specific characteristics, like not to grow tall or thick or to secrete certain substances... and so on.
The role of genetics isn’t limited to animals; it plays a part in the lives of Plants as well!
Why are wild elephant tusks getting shorter by the day? Why are some types of rosewood no longer secreting their unique oil?
Heh!
Sean opened his eyes.
He felt like he had witnessed Ten Million Years in the information he had just received.
But looking around him, it seemed as though only a second had passed!
The Life Energy within him had reached its peak, while only a tenth of the Energy from the Tree Stump had been depleted.
However, Sean couldn’t level up now, and he didn’t know why.
Was it not the right time?
With a wave of his hand, he put away the Tree Stump, and Sean distinctly felt the plants around him suddenly "deflate," that sense of vitality just disappearing.
