Chapter 1080: Chapter 573 Let’s also make a fortune from Japan’s national disaster!
Aria followed Sean Knight into the courtyard with a nervous heart.
Originally, Amina wanted to accompany her, but Aria still refused.
Before coming back, Aria had studied China’s culture in detail and had discreetly inquired through team members about some of the local customs.
She thought it over and realized if she brought Amina to Sean’s house, it was quite possible that Sean’s family would think she was putting on airs like a princess.
Now Aria felt very happy, and she just wanted Sean’s family to regard her as Sean’s daughter-in-law, not someone with any other identity.
Once inside the courtyard and seeing Sean’s family, Aria got a bit nervous, but she still took the initiative to go forward, let go of Sean’s hand, gave a deep bow, and said,
"Grandfather, Father, Mother, Brother, hello! My name is Aria, and I’m Sean’s wife! I’m very happy to meet you all!"
Hearing Aria greet them in her less-than-perfect Mandarin, Ralph Knight chuckled and said,
"Why so formal with family? Come inside the house."
After entering the house, Aria presented the gifts she had brought from the Kingdom to Sean’s family members one by one.
The gift for Ralph Knight was two bottles of vintage wine from the Royal collection, aged for ’n’ number of years—likely more years than Ralph’s age.
These bottles were from China, reportedly purchased during a certain National Expo.
For Mark Knight, she brought a piece of velvet made from the fur of a particular animal, which is strictly protected domestically.
For Ruby Johnson, it was a set of cosmetics custom-made for the Royal Family.
To Oscar Knight, she gave a Curved Knife inlaid with gemstones.
Aria had discussed these gifts with Sean beforehand, and they were taken from the Royal Warehouse.
"Just your presence will make them happy, no matter what you bring," Sean’s words gave Aria a lot of confidence.
Indeed, the family members who received gifts were truly happy.
Ruby Johnson put a big red envelope in Aria’s hand.
"This is our local custom here, a meeting gift. We know you don’t lack money; it’s just to express our sentiments," she said.
Sean scanned the envelope with Sky Eye and saw it contained a full stack plus one additional bill.
It probably symbolized being one in ten thousand.
With Aria’s status, she definitely deserved that implication.
Aria’s greeting in Chinese was learned on-the-fly. Although she had been cramming during this period, to tell the truth, there was really not much she could say or understand.
According to Sean, the plan was to meet with the family and then return to stay at the Inn.
After all, dietary habits are different, and there’s no need for either side to accommodate too much, making both uncomfortable.
But Aria still insisted on staying here.
She quietly told Sean,
"This is my first time meeting the family, and if I leave now, I think they would be unhappy.
I am your wife now. I am very happy to have this identity, so I will try my best to adapt, and do my best to perform this role well."
Sean didn’t insist anymore. After all, it’s a good thing, isn’t it?
Aria wanted to help in the kitchen, and Ruby led her, pointing to the cookware and saying,
"We’re afraid you’re not accustomed to our food, and you have your religious beliefs. So, you see, all of these were newly bought and haven’t been used at all.
That includes all this new oil, rice, flour, and other items."
Having such a considerate family-in-law who cared about her feelings, Aria was truly happy.
She felt increasingly that her choice was the right one.
After finishing a meal, Aria was eager to check out the Vegetable Garden and see the place where Sean grew up.
"I grew up in the King’s Palace since I was little. Although the palace has many facilities that aren’t available outside, and I felt happy as a child,
as I grew up, I started feeling like I was living in a cage. I envied the common people who could frolic freely in the Desert, swim in the lake, climb trees, pick fruits, and play and laugh without a care..."
In his mind, Sean thought, can anyone in your country really do such things without restraint? You must’ve seen it on television or in a novel, right?
Of course, these were thoughts he couldn’t say out loud.
So Sean, along with Aria, picked vegetables in the Vegetable Garden, caught Fish in the Reservoir, collected stones on the River Beach, and gathered Mushrooms in the Mountain...
Coming Home turned out to be like a trip for tourism.
Not only did Aria insist on Sean taking her to do this and that, but while they were doing these activities, she also had Sean talk about what he did when he was little.
It was as if she wanted to relive Sean’s journey of growing up.
For this, they even made special trips to Sean’s Primary school and Middle school.
Unfortunately, because of school mergers and consolidations, the primary school Sean attended had now become a Breed Farm.
They could only look at it from the outside.
The middle school he attended had turned into a boarding primary school, but after explaining at the Entrance, Sean was allowed to go in and look around. He pointed out to Aria the location of the classrooms where he spent three years in junior high, and all the places where he used to hang out.
If it weren’t for the fact that there were Classrooms with Classmates still in session, Aria might have even gone inside to sit in the spot where Sean once sat.
The two of them stayed happily for over ten days, and Sean hadn’t realized time could pass so quickly.
One day, Aria was helping Ruby Johnson dry chili peppers in the Inside Courtyard, when a Middle-aged woman from inside the village walked in.
"Aunt, we are about to pick Grapes, can we borrow your ladder?" she asked.
"Sure, go ahead and take it," Ruby said, pointing to the ladder propped up in the Wall Corner.
