Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Can This Thing Actually Grow?

(Chapter 3 is here! Please support!)

John’s old metal buyer contact, Tony, was a Latin man in his thirties. He arrived at the freight yard with a driver and workers, driving a truck.

When Tony saw the large pile of copper materials in front of Sean, he was so happy that he couldn’t close his mouth!

Sean naturally understood that he had just checked the current prices of copper materials, which were on the rise, as were the futures prices. The amount of copper materials he had was not a small sum; enough for Tony to make a decent profit!

Tony enthusiastically came forward and shook hands with Sean, saying:

"Hello, I’ve heard about you for a long time but never had the chance to cooperate!"

Sean shook hands with a smile. He was not yet used to such enthusiasm from strangers, so he pointed towards the copper materials and said:

"How much for a ton? Estimate a price!"

As for Sean’s attitude, Tony knew that it was normal; he squatted down and pulled out a piece to examine, then another. He said,

"There are red and purple copper here, different prices for each... they also need to be weighed."

Sean nodded in understanding.

In the end, Tony gave Sean a fair price, because unlike other second-hand goods, the prices were easily found online.

Eventually, after weighing, the total copper materials here was just over six tons but not quite seven. Tony generously rounded up and paid Sean 70,000 dollars.

After shaking hands, Tony said:

"Contact me for any business in the future! I’ll recycle all kinds of scrap metal!"

Sean happily gave Jason Caldwell a thousand dollars to share with the others and asked them to clean up the place.

At this time, Diana Smith had also finished moving the things from the boxes outside.

The pieces of furniture were placed outside the container, some already growing mold, and some edges damaged.

Diana cursing as she went through the furniture, trying to find any hidden compartments.

Sean swept his gaze past them and thought she would be disappointed.

He didn’t linger here, leaving quickly with Jason and the others.

They had lunch at Jason’s home at noon, and Sean went to the Port Cargo Yard in the afternoon.

There were two more auctions in the afternoon, and Sean went to the cargo yard at the set time.

This time Jason tagged along with Sean – he had learned of Sean being shot earlier, so he insisted on going with Sean, saying that protecting Sean was the only assurance for his life.

Sean let him tag along.

Sean and Jason arrived early, after having a light meal.

There were two treasure hunters there whom Sean did not know, but both of them smiled and greeted Sean:

"Hey, lucky Chinese boy!"

"Hello, Sean! So jealous of you!"

Sean responded with a smile.

Jason followed Sean, looking proud.

As more people gradually arrived, Mr. Madden was there, as well as the Ralph Brothers and Hamilton Diaz.

However, the elder and little Joey or Diana Smith were not present.

Sean thought it might be because they had lost their budget for the day and couldn’t make it.

Of course, it was just speculation; they could also have gone to other cargo yards.

Before the bald auctioneer and his assistant arrived, Sean had a look at the four containers prepared to be auctioned at the cargo yard.

The first container contained several things that looked like giant dolls with foam plastic wrapped around them, leaving only the heads exposed.

There were also some colored lights, lanterns, and other similar items inside.

Sean guessed that these things might be used for an amusement park or to decorate a venue for a celebration.

Sky Eye searched for a while but found no other items, so Sean skipped this container and looked at the second one.

At first glance, the second container scared Sean!

Could this item be auctioned?

Huge stacks of cardboard boxes were flattened, wrapping up two items.

One of them was a set of medieval armor, and the other was something resembling a pharaoh’s coffin!

These two items were wrapped so tightly that they could not be recognized from the outside.

Sean hesitated as to whether or not to pick them up.

Sky Eye carefully scanned the area and discovered certificates next to both items.

Could they be real?

Should I bid on them?

Sean’s heart leapt!

Although he thought the likelihood of these being genuine items was low – who would transport such precious items in a container?

But whatever, as long as the price is right, even if they are replicas, it’s still worth it!

Moving on to the third container, it contained a blind box with over a dozen tightly sealed cardboard boxes.

Sean scanned them with Sky Eye and found that they were filled with high-quality electronic devices – mobile phones!

However, after a closer look, Sean shook his head.

Only ten of the phones were real; the rest were just plastic models – what were they doing here?

But they looked quite realistic!

The phones were the popular fruit phones of the moment, and if the price was right, they could be worth bidding on as well.

The fourth container contained some big boxes, revealing second-hand renovation materials and supplies like aluminum alloy windows, fireplaces, and a roughly four-foot-tall, five-foot-square item wrapped tightly in numerous layers of plastic film.

Sean scanned it with Sky Eye and couldn’t help but laugh.

It was actually this!

If you looked at it from the entrance, you’d definitely have ideas about it, but in the end...

Just then, Sean heard the familiar tongue-clicking sound of the auctioneer:

"...Alright, the first container is now open, and everyone needs to observe carefully during the observation phase..."

The auction assistant promptly cut off the lock and opened the container door, revealing the big-head dolls to everyone.

"Wow!"

Many people screamed in surprise – this kind of open container contents was what most treasure hunters liked.

After all, everyone knew they wouldn’t bid too high during the auction.

Without a blind box, it would be a competition of skill, and everyone had a chance.

Not everyone liked the thrill of opening blind boxes like Mr. Madden, Elder and Little Joey.

Everyone crowded around the container as Sean joined the excitement.

A minute later, the auction began with the auctioneer raising both hands:

"The reserve price is One thousand dollars and each bid must be no less than a hundred dollars, let the auction begin! Mr. Knight bids 2000 dollars, 2000 dollars, any other bids...?"

Although the material of the big-head dolls was uncertain, everyone knew it wasn’t worth less than One thousand dollars, so Sean made the first move and raised the price to 2,000 dollars.

He wasn’t necessarily going to buy it, but he couldn’t keep giving others the impression that he only participated to win good items.

Building too high a reputation can attract unwanted attention, and he knew that well.

As expected, once Sean started bidding, others joined in. Ralph raised his hand:

"3,000 dollars!"

Treasure hunters started bidding, not letting the top people dominate the scene.

As a result, the price quickly skyrocketed to 11,000 dollars. Sean increased his bid twice in the middle, but when it reached 10,000 dollars, he stopped and spread his hands to show he was out.

In the end, the container was won by a tall white man who excitedly hugged the auctioneer in celebration.

Many people looked at him like he was an idiot and then moved on to the second container.

Sean was already prepared to go all out!
