Chapter 1074: Chapter 571 Has This Been Blessed by the God of Wealth?
Sean Knight’s gaze was fixed on the central stone coffin, specifically on the golden snake on the woman statue.
In his eyes, what appeared to be a sculpture made of gold, was, through the lens of the Sky Eye, a live snake capable of changing colors!
The snake’s head was proudly erect, its vertical pupils staring down Sean Knight as if ready to strike at any moment!
Sean Knight remained unruffled, yet his grip on the engineer shovel tightened, and he put away the lamp in his other hand, replacing it with the hooked blade he had earlier placed in the spatial realm from his uncle, Jeremy Knight!
Seeing that the snake didn’t move, Sean Knight walked straight towards it.
If the mountain won’t come to me, I shall go to the mountain!
When Sean Knight approached the stone coffin, the disguised snake, feeling threatened, contracted its body and, like a spring, lunged at Sean Knight!
Sean Knight was prepared; with an upward flick, the hooked blade slashed toward the long snake’s neck!
To Sean’s surprise, the snake adjusted its trajectory in mid-air by moving its tail and suddenly inflated a pair of wings at its neck. Gliding through the air like a fish, it changed positions and bit towards Sean’s neck!
Sean Knight broke into a cold sweat!
This creature was incredibly agile!
He had underestimated it!
He swerved to dodge the snake’s head while the engineer shovel smashed down hard towards the reptile’s head!
That snake was the chief of many poisonous snakes and indeed worthy of having commanded a great battle among snakes. Just as the engineer shovel was about to hit, it twisted its body, dodging the shovel while its tail whipped fiercely towards Sean!
Sean reached out to grab the snake’s tail but found it extremely slippery and failed to grasp it. Meanwhile, the snake beat its wings and flew back to the stone coffin!
Such powerful aerial capability forced Sean to admire the snake’s strength!
The snake coiled itself on the woman statue on the stone coffin, raising its head high and fixing its eyes on Sean.
Sean put away the engineer shovel and the hooked blade, thinking this wasn’t the time to expend effort on the snake!
In his hands soon appeared two pistols with silencers.
If he didn’t want to disturb Elijah Hastings and the others above, Sean would have taken out a sniper rifle and aimed directly at the snake’s head!
As Sean pulled out his guns, the snake seemed to sense the threat and swiftly swam backward!
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
A series of crisp gunshots rang out, bullets chasing after the snake’s body!
To Sean’s surprise, the bullets mostly glanced off the snake’s body, with only two penetrating and leaving wounds.
The snake tried to flee, but Sean was not about to let it get away so easily. He immediately chased after it, shooting as he ran!
The snake had not expected Sean to hit it mid-air, losing the advantage it once had and ultimately falling on the crawling road.
Just as Sean was about to go and pick up the snake’s body, he stopped immediately.
The snake’s body lay between the central stone coffin and the upright coffin behind it, closer to the position of the upright coffin.
Sean’s Sky Eye was always alert, and he immediately noticed that if the snake had crawled forward another half meter, it would have pressed down on a stone slab.
That stone slab was hollow, with a mechanism underneath. Stepping on it would trigger the opening of the upright coffin to the north, and a mummy would spring out.
This mummy was covered with a certain type of chemical substance, similar to phosphorus powder, which would ignite upon contact with air!
Had this snake been in the tomb chamber since its construction? Otherwise, how could it have known about the mechanism?
Or was it mere coincidence?
Avoiding the mechanism, Sean picked up the snake’s body.
It felt chillingly cold and extremely heavy.
Under the scrutiny of the Sky Eye, the metal content in the snake’s flesh and blood was absurdly high!
"This snake skin could make for a fine belt," Sean muttered to himself.
Having said that, he then stowed the snake’s body away.
The interior of the tomb was relatively simple, mainly composed of the central stone coffin and the burial objects.
Sean didn’t touch the four upright stone coffins on the corners. Having looked carefully with the Sky Eye, he noticed that each contained a mummy but was also a trap.
This was no simple matter!
After collecting the burial goods from the tomb, Sean turned his attention to the central sarcophagus.
The sarcophagus was extremely heavy; the golden statue on top must be the tomb’s master.
Inside the sarcophagus was a solid gold coffin in the style of ancient Egypt, containing a mummy with jars likely holding the tomb master’s organs and brain beside it.
Although Sean had no interest in the mummy, he thought it over and decided to take the entire stone coffin into his spatial realm.
Since his space had greatly expanded, it wouldn’t hurt to keep the item, which could come in handy at any moment.
After a thorough inspection revealing no other corridors, secret chambers, or doors, Sean felt a hint of disappointment.
The tallest, most majestic building in the city, and this was all that was inside?
It didn’t even have more than the annex chamber next door!
Since there was nothing left, Sean exited the stone chamber, casually taking the two warrior statues beside it as well and then departed from the place.
Upon exiting the pyramid, he saw Elijah Hastings and the others watching him intently.
"Boss, everything alright?"
"All good, all good, just a small harvest," Sean emerged with the snake in tow. "The biggest snake is still inside; it nearly resisted blades and bullets. Luckily, I had my guns."
"That’s no small snake!" Douglas Cooper examined the snake closely, "Really tough skin—it feels like it’s made of metal—huh? Can it change colors?"
Elijah and the others marveled at the snake.
"Boss, what’s next?" After a while, Lincoln Harrington asked.
"I plan to explore further. There isn’t much of worth beneath the pyramid; I want to check out the inside."
