Chapter 1033: Chapter 557: Indeed, It’s More Profitable in a Seller’s Market_2

The snoring continued—he looked around the room, ensuring no one was hidden, and when he lifted the blanket, he discovered a Bluetooth speaker underneath—

And just as he lifted the blanket, a cylindrical projectile had its fuse pulled, instantly releasing a stimulant gas!

"Ambush! It’s an ambush!" Sakawa shouted, turning his head and running toward the entrance!

However, by that time, he realized that of the four-person group that had been following him, he was the only one still standing!

The other three were already lying on the ground, unconscious!

He immediately raised his gun, but was soon overwhelmed by the gas and began to cough, and after hearing a crisp boom, he followed the fate of his subordinates and fell to the ground.

Elijah Hastings, wearing a gas mask, stepped forward to shoot each person again, before quickly exiting.

Meanwhile, the combat in the other two areas inside the courtyard was also drawing to a close.

With night vision and Sean Knight’s prior preparations, including the firearms he had given to Elijah and the others, the planned sneak attack turned into an ambush.

Sean Knight, guarding the VIP Room, easily handled three assailants who were trying to sneak up on him.

Because he acted quickly, he did not even wake Aria Wilson, who was sleeping in the house.

However, what Sean did not expect was that the female bodyguard sleeping in the room next to Aria reacted quickly. She came out with a gun, and upon seeing Sean, raised it.

Fortunately, the bodies on the ground made her realize what was happening, and she immediately started to help Sean dispose of the bodies and secure the area.

When Sean stepped into the courtyard, Lincoln Harrington and Douglas Cooper were already dealing with the bodies.

Not one of the intruders, including the two fake security guards at the entrance, got away.

From start to finish, no lamps were lit in the courtyard. With Sean and the others’ nearly daytime-like night vision, they naturally had an overwhelming advantage.

Some workers were woken by the commotion inside the courtyard, yet no one turned on any lights.

Elijah emerged from the house, removed his gas mask, and shouted toward those houses with noise:

"Stay inside your houses. We’ve been attacked, and it’s not completely over yet. Protect yourselves inside until daybreak!"

This shout did indeed wake many who hadn’t fully awakened yet.

Fortunately, after Elijah shouted a couple more times, and with the "authority" they had inherited from taking over the oil field in recent days, the workers and technicians, recognizing his voice, didn’t think much of it and went back to rest.

The few lights that were briefly turned on were extinguished.

These people were well aware that the less they knew, the longer they would live.

Several people piled the bodies together.

"Judging from these people’s appearance and the documents found on them, they all seem to have come from Japan," Lincoln reported first. "Clearly, they already know we’ve taken the oil field."

"Looks like they also realize they can’t retrieve the oil field by aboveboard means anymore, so that’s why they resorted to this," Elijah analyzed on the side. "The only question is whether there will be more stealth attacks to come. If they only target here, it’s still manageable, but if they start targeting the oil wells, we’ll really be in trouble."

"They probably won’t," Sean mused. "Think about it, they don’t have many people to begin with.

We took some of them out in Japan, then you guys took out several more, and now they’ve lost another group here. They might not even be able to muster enough people anymore."

"Great!" Douglas exclaimed, laughing. "Once we’ve secured the oil field, there are several more places to go. We’ll take them one by one and cut off their supply lines!"

"Yeah, let’s do that!" Sean said with a laugh. "This is much easier than a treasure hunt!"

Everyone burst into laughter.

"Boss, what about these bodies?" Lincoln asked.

"Burn them," Sean directed. "Get a pickup truck, take the bodies out, and find a place in the wilderness to pour some oil and burn them. Saves keeping them here and wasting space."

"What about the two security guards at the entrance?"

"Let their families know to come and collect them at daybreak. Just tell them there was an attack," Sean considered. "Give a little extra compensation."

Elijah and the others had already informed the gatehouse of the potential trouble that night, but the guards didn’t believe it, so Sean and his team couldn’t be blamed.

Soon after, a large fire raged deep in the desert, sending up high flames and emitting a strange odor.

Sean was comforting Aria at that moment:

"Don’t worry. It was just some people jealous of the profits from the oil field who wanted to take advantage during a crisis, but they’ve been taken care of."

But Aria clung to Sean’s arm, refusing to let go:

"Is it that dangerous? If I had known, I would have brought a whole team of bodyguards with me—could it have been targeted at me?"

"No, no, relax," Sean reassured her, glancing at the female bodyguard, slightly annoyed at her meddling.

The female bodyguard also felt helpless. After being woken up by Elijah’s shouting, Aria wanted to find Sean immediately. Once she understood the situation, she insisted on leaving her room despite the danger.

It wasn’t exactly appropriate for the bodyguard to knock her out, so she had no option but to accompany her to find Sean.

"Alright, go rest," Sean soothed her for a while. "By daytime tomorrow, everything will be back to normal."

Aria was still reluctant to leave, but she knew Sean definitely had other matters to attend to.

Being able to cling to Sean’s arm and feel his body next to hers was already the limit of what actions she dared to take.
