Chapter 1020: Chapter 552: It Turns Out There Are Such Advantages to Take Advantage of!_3

The raw lapis lazuli and gemstone rough were piled up inside the base; seeing so much of it, one eventually became desensitized.

The respect the tribal elders had for Sean Knight was evident. Despite being only in his twenties, Sean held his ground when facing tribesmen in their fifties or sixties, exuding an authority that made them admire him greatly.

Now, they had struck an oil field comparable to the best in the world!

What didn’t this man possess?

That night, after dinner, Sean went to look for Elijah Hastings.

"If you guys are free, let’s leave tonight. We must head to the Middle East as soon as possible," Sean said. "I just found out that the value of that oil field is extremely high."

"How high?" asked Douglas Cooper, who had been bored, suddenly interested. "Is there a small goal at least?"

"Definitely more than just one," Sean replied after a quick calculation. "It’s worth dozens of small targets, maybe even more!"

"Hell, then we must go!" Douglas stood up immediately. "If we take over the oil field sooner, the Chrysanthemum Organization will have one less source of income!"

"Right, right, let’s focus on that first!" Elijah was also excited.

That very night, Sean and his team took a flight and headed towards the Middle East under the cover of darkness.

Arriving in a small country in the Middle East, they bought two off-road vehicles for convenience, and stopped in a little town dozens of kilometers from the oil field.

"We’ll split into two groups here," Sean said. "Lincoln and Douglas, take the documents and deal with the procedures. Try to change them as quickly as possible. Elijah and I will check out the oil field; it would be great if we could stir up some trouble."

"Boss, you and Mr. Patrick should handle the procedures, and I’ll go with Captain Hastings to sort out the oil field," Douglas immediately retorted. "You personally need to be there for the procedures. They might not recognize us if we go!"

Elijah and Lincoln immediately agreed.

Sean thought they made a good point, though he was a bit disappointed as he had planned to cause some serious stir at the oil field.

Now, it seemed that wouldn’t be possible.

"Alright, but don’t cause any damage to the facilities at the oil field. Of course, prioritize your safety first. If the opponent’s defense is tight, then don’t make a move," he said.

The two groups parted ways in the town, one heading towards the oil field and the other toward the nearby city.

"Boss, the officials here said they can’t handle the procedure changes; we need to go to their capital city. This is a major issue, beyond their control," said Lincoln as he walked out of a government building and spoke to Sean inside the car.

"Then let’s go, we’ll check out the capital," replied Sean.

Fortunately, the country wasn’t very large, so the trip to the capital didn’t take very long.

Importantly, many people there spoke English, so there were no barriers to communication. Sean was surprised to find that while waiting beside the car, young locals would occasionally come up and greet him in Chinese—though their greetings were rudimentary.

Clearly, Chinese was indeed increasingly spreading across the world, and the openness here seemed to exceed Sean’s expectations.

As they drove to the capital of this country, Sean noticed it was busier than other cities, yet it seemed more conservative.

At least there were fewer women on the streets, and their attire was considerably more modest than in other cities.

Sean criticized these customs yet knew they were beyond the scope of someone like him to change.

Just watch and see.

The two men asked around as they walked and quickly found the department responsible for leasing the oil fields to foreigners.

This time, Sean and Lincoln both went into the building.

Outside, the heat was like fire, but inside the building, it was as cool as spring.

It was noticeable that many people came here to register, and many were foreigners conducting business.

Listening to their conversations, Sean learned that some big foreign companies were developing here.

He felt a sense of urgency.

After registering, Sean and his companion went up to the office on the fifth floor.

"You want to process a sublease?" asked the local man from Baotou City, furrowing his brow as he looked at the documents Sean handed over.

"What about Yamada, who previously contracted this piece of land?"

"He couldn’t make it due to some issues. He owes me money, so he transferred this place to me. Here’s his power of attorney," replied Sean, undisturbed, handing over the document.

The man took the power of attorney, compared it with some information on the computer, his frown easing slightly, then said:

"Please wait. I need to report this matter to my superiors."

"So we just wait here?"

"No need. Come back tomorrow. There will be a definite answer then," the official said. Sean and Lincoln had no choice but to accept his words.

Sean even regretted not going directly to the oil field and taking it over. After all, with the Chrysanthemum Organization now crippled, it was unlikely that anyone would come.

However, upon reflection, it was better to leave it be. After all, they were there already, and what mattered most was ensuring a steady approach. Extracting oil wasn’t a trivial matter; you couldn’t just take your haul and leave.

If they were to stay there long-term, having legal procedures was best. Otherwise, being evicted would be legally justified.

"So, boss, what do we do now? Wait?" Lincoln asked as they got into the car under the glaring sun after leaving the building.

"We can’t wait," Sean said. "Later, after that official gets off work, we’ll go schmooze a little. If spending some money can settle this, it’s worth it."

Lincoln glanced at Sean, somewhat surprised yet considering their previous adventures in treasure hunting, this formal business venture was a first for them.

But in this world, force couldn’t solve everything. So, naturally, Lincoln supported Sean’s plan.

After waiting for more than two hours, they saw people gradually leaving the building. Sean and Lincoln, sharp-eyed, quickly spotted the staff member who had received them earlier.

Once the man drove off, Lincoln immediately followed in their car.
