Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Greatly Disappointed

In the areas illuminated by this high-powered flashlight were two rows of shelves along the walls.

On the shelves were large and small wooden boxes.

There were standard military weapon boxes and very crude privately made boxes.

Sean Knight did not find any danger and opened the first box in front of him.

Empty.

The second box contained half a box of explosives and bundles of fuse wire.

If the explosives outside the underground door were detonated, and then the items here were ignited, Sean couldn’t bear to think further.

He opened the next box and laughed.

There were weapons inside!

Old-fashioned Thompson submachine guns, also called the Chicago Typewriter. Sean had only used this thing in video games.

He picked it up and weighed it, it seemed pretty new.

Sean put the submachine gun on his back, it was a pity there was only one.

Moving on, he found nothing but empty boxes and explosives.

Sean was greatly disappointed.

If this was all there was in the mine cave, it would be really heartbreaking!

With nothing left on the right-hand shelf, Sean turned to the left.

He hoped he wouldn’t be disappointed this time.

Opening the first box on the left, he got a pleasant surprise!

The box contained US dollars!

Although not much, there were five bundles of old US dollars, the ones with a face value of ten dollars.

Although it was only 5,000 US dollars, it was at least a good start, wasn’t it?

Sean happily stuffed the money into his backpack and continued looking.

The second small wooden box was nailed shut.

Sean put in a lot of effort to pry the box open, only to curse when he saw what was inside:

"Damn, what a waste of emotions!"

There were four small gold bars in the box, occupying a tiny corner.

Were these four gold bars really worth nailing the box shut?

He put the gold bars in his bag and continued looking.

There were three more empty boxes before he found another well-sealed big box full of paper materials.

All were in an incomprehensible language, which Sean guessed might be German.

He flipped through the pages and saw some blueprints and data underneath.

It looked like they were designing an engine.

These things had been stored for too long, the paper had turned yellow. Sean shook his head, considering it useless.

There were three more boxes of similar paper materials. Sean took a wad from one and put it in his backpack, thinking of checking what they were after getting out.

The last two boxes, one small box containing six gold bars, slightly eased Sean’s disappointed feelings.

In the other box, there were bundles of what seemed to be registration books, with lots of information recorded, but Sean could not understand it.

He collected the notebooks and looked further inside, only to see a solid stone wall.

The gain was much less than expected!

From the boxes, it seemed that there were at least two boxes of gold hidden in this secret chamber. Judging by the volume, it was probably around a hundred kilograms.

There must have been several hundred thousand dollars inside the box of US dollars - there were four such boxes.

If they were all US dollars, it would have counted as a huge amount back in the middle of the last century.

But they were all gone now.

Fortunately, Sean was prepared for this. Ten gold bars and 5,000 US dollars were already considered good.

Retracing his steps, Sean hung the wire on the iron gate again, and finally filled the entrance with ore and left the mine cave.

Once outside, he realized how fresh the air here was!

Returning to the car, Sean Knight put his backpack down and placed his gun aside separately, organizing documents and account books and putting them in a plastic bag.

He put the remaining US Dollars and gold back into the backpack and drove away.

About ten kilometers out, on the main road, Sean saw two cars coming towards him from head-on.

These two cars seemed to be the ones he saw earlier at Brad’s old manor?

Sean had a vague impression of them, but didn’t care much and drove back to the city.

William sitting in the passenger seat of the front car, looking at the map, said:

"According to my investigation, Brad heavily bribed the then-guarding military officer, disguised himself as a victim, and brought the plundered treasures to New York.

There are two most likely places for him to hide these treasures: one is the manor we just visited, and the other is a mountain mine he operated for a period of time!

Now, the place we are heading to is that abandoned mine that has been unused for decades!

This time we’re bringing the most advanced metal detectors and other equipment, and we will definitely find the treasure!"

Several hours later, at the location of the mountain mine, the ground shook suddenly, a muffled noise came from the mine entrance, and then a section of the ground collapsed!

Of course Sean didn’t know about this, he first asked Judy about the price of a Thompson Submachine Gun.

Judy quoted a "high price" of US$500, but Sean flatly refused.

No need.

As for the ten gold bars, Sean gave them to Mr. John to sell.

Mr. John laughed and took the bundle containing the gold bars, saying:

"Sean, you really have a bond with gold! It wasn’t long ago that you sold some gold, and now you have another batch. I don’t think any treasure hunters have luck as good as yours!"

Sean just smiled without saying a word.

"The freight yard you set up is pretty impressive, the rent is not expensive, and many new customers store their containers there. Do you need any help finding a suitable manager?"

"Yes!" Sean immediately replied, "The current management style is very casual, three black guys are handling it with their brothers, I haven’t interfered much, but I know I need a formal manager... "

"Alright then." John thought Sean was managing it and doing a good job, not realizing that Sean didn’t care at all.

Sean’s phone rang, he glanced down, it was an unfamiliar number. He answered and the other side said:

"Hello, is this Mr. Knight?"

Not very standard Mandarin.

Sean guessed it was another person asking about the Tang Sword!

"I’m Sean."

"Hello, my last name is Jiang, Jiang Renyong. I heard that you have a Tang sword... "

"Sorry, not for sale!"

Sean hung up after saying that.

Since he had already promised Ye Jianhua, Sean didn’t plan to make contact with anyone else.

After this call, as soon as Sean was about to stand up, the phone rang again.

Sean lowered his head to look, and it was actually Robert’s number.

He immediately picked it up.

Robert’s frantic voice sounded:

"Sean, Elson’s lawyer Mark has found some clues about you—you better be careful lately, pay attention to your safety! If you can hide, it’s best to hide!"

Hide?

That wasn’t Sean’s style!

Considering the money recently collected, Sean gritted his teeth and asked:

"Can you help me get rid of this Mark guy? It would be even better if you could get rid of Elson!"

Robert was taken aback by Sean’s words!

After thinking for a moment on his side, he said:

"Mark has done many things that go against morals, and getting rid of him shouldn’t be a problem. But Elson is different, he has an identity and wealth, and he attracts more attention! If he’s killed, we are very likely to be found out."

Sean understood what he meant and said:

"Then first just kidnap Mark and see what happens!"
