Rise of The Demon General -
Chapter 275. Massacre
Chapter 275: Chapter 275. Massacre
Xian Yang finally recovered from his headache. He was shocked to see his tamed beast had been killed. He slightly regretted using the talisman on his swift spirit sparrow. The talisman not only augmented its strength but also put it in a frenzied state. That’s why it persisted in carrying out his order despite being wounded. If not for the talisman, his pet would have retreated. Now, he had lost a valuable steed. He would have to walk back when this was over.
Amon had recovered earlier than Xian Yang. Once he did, he pulled Tuang Yin away from the Pledge Demon. He didn’t pull Leng Ku away because something was happening to him. When Amon turned to Yang Jun, the same thing also happened to him.
Their bodies were covered by strange glowing symbols. Sprouting from their bodies were multiple ghostly arms. These spectral arms wrapped over their limbs, preventing them from moving.
’That must have been the curse they mentioned," Amon thought.
"Die! Die! All of you must dieee...!!!"
The shrill cry of Yon Yu reverberated. The voice was hers, but it sounded inhuman. The voice also seemed to come from the Pledge Demon instead of Yon Yu. The Pledge Demon was amplifying Yon Yu’s voice and feeling.
As her cry intensified, a whole lot of other cries were heard. The closest came from Leng Ku and Yang Jun. The spectral arms binding their bodies were tightening and twisting. The sound of bones being broken was heard.
"AAHHH...!!!" Even a Peak Transformation Stage cultivator like Yang Jun couldn’t resist the force. His arms and legs were twisted into unnatural shapes. His bones snapped in multiple places.
His scream of agony was joined by Leng Ku and the others from all around. Amon couldn’t see these other screaming people. But from the sound of it, it was like the entire village was screaming.
"She truly means it about killing everyone...," Amon realized.
Everyone who had pledged themselves to Yon Yu and her mother was now having their curses activated. This time, the curse not only bound them but attempted to take their lives.
Some of these attempts seemed to come to fruition because a whole lot of the screaming suddenly stopped. They then saw Leng Ku. The hands from the spectral arms grabbed his head. They then twisted. A snapping sound was heard. Leng Ku’s head was rotated almost a full circle.
He stopped screaming as he fell to the ground. The ghostly arms vanished then.
Yang Jun, who was a distance away, watched in horror. His body was stronger due to his cultivation, but it was only a matter of time before he suffered the same fate. The spectral hands were now grabbing his head.
He looked in Amon’s direction. Their gaze met. He regretted taking up Amon’s offer. But then again, perhaps this had always been their fate ever since they murdered Yon Yu’s father. He closed his eyes as he waited for the inevitable. He then heard a snapping sound.
Yang Jun fell to the ground. All the screaming had stopped. The village was dead silent.
"Fuck me... Did... Did she just massacre an entire village?" Tuang Yin asked. She shivered at the thought.
"We are not out of the woods yet. Be vigilant," Amon warned.
They were indeed not. Yon Yu had stopped crying. She was standing with her eyes firmly on Amon. This was the man who killed her mother, after all.
"I said, all of you will die... So, you will dieee...!!!" She yelled.
The Pledge Demon uttered another head-splitting cry. Amon was prepared but still felt like his head was slammed into a wall. His vision was blurry, but he forced himself to stay focused out of sheer will.
In his blurry vision, he saw something impossible happen. He thought he had seen the wrong thing because he had trouble seeing. When his vision cleared, he saw that he wasn’t wrong.
The Pledge Demon was hugging Yon Yu, protecting her with its embrace. Next to them were three more Pledge Demons. The demon had multiplied.
These three extra Pledge Demons went for the three remaining humans still alive aside from Yon Yu. These three were Amon, Tuang Yin, and Xian Yang.
"Back!" Amon commanded.
Tuang Yin had just recovered from her headache. She was still confused as to why there were four Pledge Demons now, but she had learned to obey Amon without wasting time questioning him.
While Amon and Tuang Yin retreated as the Pledge Demons advanced, Xian Yang stayed his ground. He did that because he was both prideful and oblivious to the situation.
He thrust his sword. Countless sword lights stabbed into the advancing Pledge Demon. The Pledge Demon ignored the stabs. It didn’t even slow. His defensive earth domain was useless since the Pledge Demon moved by floating. It didn’t touch the ground.
He pulled a talisman from his space ring and activated it. The translucent defensive sphere appeared again. However, the sphere was as if nonexistent. The Pledge Demon’s long arms slid right through the sphere wall.
Xian Yang was shocked by this. He finally decided to move away. He was slightly late, though. One of the Pledge Demon’s hands caught his left wrist. Without pausing, that hand squeezed. A crunching sound was heard.
"Aahhh...!" Xian Yang couldn’t resist the scream of agony. He could feel the bones in his wrist getting crushed.
He then saw another thing that gave him the fright of his life. The Pledge Demon’s other hands slowly came at him.
His fear drove him to do something he never thought he would do. His sword flashed. He cut his left arm held by the Pledge Demon. Once freed, he immediately put some distance between himself and the Pledge Demon. He poked the meridian points in his left arm to stop the bleeding. He couldn’t use that arm in the current battle anymore.
"The Pledge Demons can’t be killed. We must take out their master!"
Xian Yang heard Amon shouting at him.
"Do you still have the lightning talisman? Use it on the girl!" Amon shouted again.
"Ugh!" Xian Yang was enraged. ’Who do you think we are? Allies? I come here to kill you!’ He thought. But considering the situation, they are in the same shit for now. Amon was dodging the Pledge Demons while staying away from him. He couldn’t kill Amon with these Pledge Demons still around.
Should he flee? This thought crossed his mind. This Pledge Demon was something he had never encountered before. He didn’t even think it was a spirit beast. Amon’s claim that this demon was unkillable was preposterous. But then again, none of his attacks worked.
If he fled, he might not find such an opportunity to take out Amon again. After a brief thought, he decided to give Amon’s suggestion a try. A talisman appeared in his hand. It then turned into blue lightning that rushed toward Yon Yu.
Unfortunately, right before the talisman flared, the Pledge Demon that was hugging Yon Yu bent down. Yon Yu’s small body was now completely covered by the Pledge Demon. When the blue lightning came, it struck the Pledge Demon instead of Yon Yu. The lightning didn’t produce any effect. The Pledge Demon didn’t even show any sign of feeling the attack.
"Tsk!" Amon, who watched the exchange, said. The Pledge Demon on Yon Yu’s side now went into full protection mode. They wouldn’t be able to get to her.
"Get away from me!"
He heard Tuang Yin yell from the side. Tuang Yin threw her flaming metal claw at the Pledge Demon chasing her. The flaming claw went right through.
"Stop attacking! These Pledge Demons are illusions. Your attacks won’t work!" Amon told her. "Only the one protecting Yon Yu is real."
"Illusion? But his arm...," Tuang Yin referred to Xian Yang’s arm.
"This is an extremely strong mind attack," Amon explained. "The illusions influence our minds into believing the attack is real. That belief manifests into a real wound."
Tuang Yin didn’t quite get it, but she didn’t think this was the time to ask for more explanations.
"What should we do? Should we flee...?" Tuang Yin asked.
Amon thought that was not a bad idea. He had been thinking the same thing. They might fail the mission but that was okay, considering the risk to their lives had become too high. They could just report this to the authorities and let the kingdom deal with this Pledge Demon. However, a sensation prevented him from going for this option.
This sensation came from around him. He could sense the same malice Yon Yu exuded earlier all around him. He estimated this malice extended all the way to the edge of this village. In a way, this entire village could be said to be her domain. The worst thing was that he could feel this malice growing.
He believed that even if they tried to flee, Yon Yu could somehow stop them from leaving this village.
