Rise of The Demon General
Chapter 250. The End of an Underworld Organization

Chapter 250: Chapter 250. The End of an Underworld Organization

When Amon used his commands to position his people, he always had four people near the exit. He placed them there to prepare for what was happening now, which was when Lu Zu decided to bail.

The four were surprised when Lu Zu rushed at them. They knew how fearsome Lu Zu was. They saw many of their comrades die in that man’s hands. They were about to move aside when Amon yelled not to let Lu Zu escape. This caused them to pause.

Rather than staying in position because of obedience, they stayed mostly because they were startled by Amon’s yelling. They were used to following his command, so there was a second when they were undecided between compliance or survival. When their brain finally decided on survival, it was too late. Lu Zu was already upon them.

From Lu Zu’s perspective, these four chose to sacrifice themselves to stop him. He acknowledged their steadfastness by unleashing the remaining fire of his Scorching Field. The layer of fire around him expanded. It turned into a fire wave that splashed over everything around the exit.

The four were instantly engulfed in flames. Even the gate and wall behind them were ablaze with raging flames. The layer of fire surrounding Lu Zu was no more.

Amon threw a flying knife. Instead of the usual defensive combustion, Lu Zu swung his claw to the back and deflected the knife.

"Qiang Dan, get ready!" Amon commanded. He then lunged forward.

Lu Zu slammed his hand into the burning gate, and it broke to pieces. He was about to rush out when he heard Amon’s yell.

"Where are you going? I thought you wanted to enact your revenge on me?"

Amon’s voice sounded very close. Lu Zu also sensed an incoming attack from behind. He moved to the side as a large dagger flew past his side. The dagger was tied to a long yellow cloth. The dagger suddenly changed direction toward him.

Lu Zu’s reaction speed allowed him to smack the dagger away. He turned to the owner of the dagger, which was Amon. Behind Amon, everyone else was staying back, including Qiang Dan. Only Amon was near him. His eyes darted between Amon and the opened exit.

He decided to take the risk. He had difficulty catching Amon because Amon was always a distance away. It was different this time. Amon was only a Strength Stage cultivator. He believed he could kill Amon with one strike as long as he could land a clean hit.

Amon was actually a Transformation Stage cultivator. Lu Zu wasn’t aware because Amon was using Concealed Ghost Body. Only cultivators at the Spirit stage or stronger could identify Amon’s true cultivation. Lu Zu also never clashed directly with Amon, so he couldn’t gauge Amon’s true strength.

Amon used the Lingering Shade Stride again to dodge. He then used Corporeal Shifting Branches to shoot a vine into something distant to help pull him away like before.

Unlike before, Lu Zu wasn’t in a propelling mode. He didn’t have to fight the momentum when turning around. Thus, he was faster. His claw slashed and produced a burst of flames that targeted Amon before Amon could pull himself away. Amon again used the Lingering Shade Stride when he sensed the danger. The flame grazed him, but the Jue Body Suit protected him. The vine from his hand was not so. It was burned to ash.

Lu Zu’s third assault came then. This time, Amon didn’t have enough time to execute another Lingering Shade Stride. He pulled the Xian Cloth, making it taut. It became a shield he put before his head when Lu Zu’s claw came striking.

Lu Zu’s claw produced eerie smoke and a shrill wail as he struck the Xian Cloth. He expected the frail cloth to tore to pieces. Yet, the yellow cloth persisted. Lu Zu’s claw couldn’t get past. The smoke from his Ghost Bone Claw dispersed after it exhausted its steam.

Lu Zu was extremely surprised by this. What material is this cloth made of?

Although his claw failed to tear through the Xian cloth, the force from his attack still forced Amon into the ground. He was already halfway, might as well go all the way. He thrust a second claw. This time, it was aimed at Amon’s chest.

*CLANG!*

The sound from the impact was the sound of his claw hitting a metal instead of a human’s body.

This was because Amon had activated the Hardened Bronze Body. But that was not the only defensive art Amon used. He also activated the Great Virulent Serpent, which mastery had improved to the Skilled level. In the beginning mastery, the Great Virulent Serpent only enhanced his senses. At skilled mastery, scales covered his body, improving his defense. Combined with his grandmaster-level Hardened Bronze Body and the Jue Body Suit, it was barely enough to withstand Lu Zu’s attack.

*CRACK!*

The sound of bones cracking was heard from inside Amon’s chest.

Amon bore the pain and shouted, "Qiang Dan, now!"

Amon’s hand was holding a flashbang grenade. He shut his eyes and detonated the flashbang grenade in his hand. Lu Zu was blinded by the intense flash. Both his ears and Amon’s were assailed by a loud bang. The two were covered by thick smoke.

Qiang Dan was prepared. He moved once Amon gave the signal. He charged forward with his eyes shut. He already memorized Lu Zu’s position. He thrust his glaive, which was swirling with a stream of water, into the thick smoke.

The sound of a blade tearing through flesh was heard, followed by a painful howl of a man. Qiang Dan and Lu Zu shot out of the smoke to the outside. They landed on the ground with Qiang Dan’s glaive stuck deep through Lu Zu’s side.

"Huck...!" Lu Zu spit out blood. The wound from the glaive was deep. The water from Qiang Dan’s River Path also ravaged his inside, causing more damage.

In a last effort, Lu Zu thrust his claw at Qiang Dan’s head. Qiang Dan saw the attack and blocked the claw using his arm. He was blasted away. There were long gashes on his arm that spurted blood.

Lu Zu tried to stand. Qiang Dan’s glaive was still stuck in him. The others from inside the warehouse rushed out then. They surrounded him. Amon walked out with someone aiding him.

Lu Zu looked around. He had difficulty breathing. Blood continued to spill from his wound and his mouth.

"Finish him," Amon uttered.

Those surrounding Lu Zu acted upon the command. Some used ranged attacks while others advanced. Unlike before, Lu Zu couldn’t defend from all the ranged attacks. They landed on his body and caused more wounds. When the melee fighters arrived, he could do little to fight them.

Someone grabbed Qiang Dan’s glaive and pulled it out violently. A jet of blood shot out when the glaive parted from Lu Zu’s body.

That was the killing blow. Lu Zu finally stopped moving and fell to the ground. His eyes were wide open. They were staring straight at Amon.

Everyone heaved a sigh of relief.

*CLAP!*CLAP!*CLAP!

The sounds of clapping came from above. Everyone turned and saw Dao Se standing above the warehouse’s roof.

"I rushed here to help, but it seems there is no need," Dao Se said. He jumped down from the ceiling and landed before them. "I couldn’t believe you all defeated Lu Zu. I always thought I would be the one who wasted him."

Dao Se approached Lu Zu’s corpse. His hand went toward Lu Zu’s hand that wore the space ring.

"He is ours. Do not touch him," Amon warned.

Dao Se stopped. His hand lingered for a bit before it retracted. He turned to Amon with a smile and said, "Of course."

Dao Se turned to Qiang Dan. "I didn’t expect you to have a Mystic Stage cultivator for an underling. It seems after working together for so long, I have still underestimated you."

"Are you done on your part?" Amon asked.

"My people are razing the Street Aristocrats base and bringing the people there under control," Dao Se said. "With Lu Zu gone, there will be no Street Aristocrats anymore. Even if the Yan clan wishes to groom another underworld organization, they won’t be able to do it in a short time. With us controlling the streets, they will find it severely more difficult than before."

"Good. As we have agreed, we will share Street Aristocrats’ territory by half."

"About that..."

Amon narrowed his eyes at Dao Se’s remark. He knew there was no guarantee this person would continue to consider him an ally. Did Dao Se wish to throw all pretense now?

"I’m just kidding," Dao Se grinned. "Of course, I will honor our agreement. Go now, heal your wound. I wouldn’t want to lose my ally after our great victory. Don’t worry about this place. I will have my people clean it up."

Amon gave the signal for everyone to leave. The warehouse they were in was trashed after the fight. Lu Zu’s flames pretty much burned half of the place. The fire was still burning as they spoke. Amon walked limply and picked up Lu Zu’s space ring before leaving.

Dao Se looked at Amon’s group as they left. He wondered if he should just forget about reputation and finish that group tonight.

He didn’t act. It was probably enough for just one underworld organization to end tonight.
