Rise of The Demon General -
Chapter 197. Full Mark
Chapter 197: Chapter 197. Full Mark
Amon’s hands never stopped throwing flying knives. His mastery over the Hundred Shooting Stars art was getting better, even though not yet at the level of grandmaster. His flying knives could now fly in a smaller radius, making a sharper turn.
Amon threw his knives consecutively. They came at Yong Baili from all angles. From the front, curving from his back, from the side, from above, and from below. They were truly like a hundred shooting stars coming from every direction.
"Impressive art," Yong Baili remarked. He again flicked his finger. A light flashed around him. Suddenly, all of Amon’s knives were cut cleanly in half.
’What was that?!’ Amon thought alarmingly. His eyes couldn’t catch what had just cut all his knives. All he saw was a flash of light.
"Hey, Baili! Does it need to use a weapon against a freshman student?" An Guan uttered.
"Haha, I’m sorry. All right. I won’t use it again," Yong Baili said with a laugh.
’Weapon?’ Amon thought. He didn’t see anything that looked like a weapon. Yong Baili must have used it so fast that he wasn’t able to perceive it. Amon knew he was not Baili’s opponent, but to experience the gap was indeed unpleasant.
It didn’t discourage him. On the contrary, he was fired up to one day be able to beat such a spirit stage cultivator.
The yellow cloth on his left arm unraveled as he rushed forward, exposing the swan dagger hiding beneath. Amon jerked his left hand forward, and his swan dagger shot out.
Yong Baili didn’t perceive the dagger as any threat. He simply lifted his hand and attempted to do a flick again, but the dagger retracted abruptly before his hand reached the weapon. Amon had pulled the dagger back using the Xian cloth attached to its hilt.
"Oh...?" Yong Baili relaxedly watched Amon as the dagger returned and revolved around Amon’s right arm before Amon suddenly kicked it with his right foot. The dagger dashed back at him.
"Fancy move," Yong Baili commented as he attempted to catch the incoming dagger with two fingers.
The dagger again retracted before his fingers arrived. In place of the retreating dagger, several energy fists came at him. Not to mention, Amon had suddenly disappeared.
Yong Baili knew Amon didn’t disappear. He only somehow turned invisible. Baili was a martial realm cultivator, so he could sense one’s energy, especially those with lower cultivation. He sensed Amon was coming at him with that cluster of energy fists.
Amon had used Silent Swift Shadow Fist as he pulled his Swan dagger back.
Yong Baili didn’t dodge this assault. The hand which had lifted to catch Amon’s dagger now turned into a palm. The palm radiated energy waves. All the energy fists coming at him vanished, like a flame doused by a strong gust. That palm then caught Amon’s invisible fist.
Amon turned visible then. Yong Baili had easily stopped Amon’s assault. Amon felt the devastating force of his fist art swallowed by the palm. His energy completely sank without producing any meaningful impact.
His attack failed.
As Yong Baili thought that he had stopped Amon’s assault, he sensed something coming at him from his blind spot.
The swan dagger, which had been pulled back, swung around Amon’s back in a large arc. It spun with Amon’s as its focal point and came to Yong Baili’s back.
Yong Baili noticed it at the last moment. Out of instinct, he flicked his finger, and that flash of light appeared again. That flash of light struck the yellow cloth that controlled the dagger.
Yong Baili wanted to cut the yellow cloth. Without that cloth, Amon would lose control of his dagger. But when he was expecting the cloth to be sliced in two, the cloth instead behaved as if it had bumped into a solid object.
In that short instance, Amon could see what that flash of light was. It was a very fine thread. Yong Baili’s weapon was a sharp thread that could cut things unseen.
Unfortunately, the Xian cloth was a runic object. The thread was unable to cut it.
The cloth was stopped at its mid-section, but the swan dagger continued. The stopping at the mid-section had instead caused the cloth between that point and the swan dagger to become tauter. Thus, increasing its momentum. The dagger sliced Yong Baili’s cloth on his side.
Amon pulled the Xian cloth, and the swan dagger returned to him.
Yong Baili looked at his torn clothes. The dagger touched his skin underneath the clothes but was unable to cause a scratch. His Spirit stage body was too hardy for that mid-tier engraved weapon.
"We are done," Yong Baili declared.
An Guan didn’t object. He nodded silently.
The other students were disappointed. It had been too short. They expected the spar to go on longer. When they did their sparring session with the other instructors, it could last for hours. They were forced to show all their capabilities until they were tired and almost couldn’t move.
They saw that Amon here had barely broken a sweat. That’s why they felt dissatisfied. But these two spirit stage teachers were head instructors, so they didn’t dare to protest.
One student among them didn’t feel the same as the rest. This one student sat silently by the corner and watched the spar. This student was Yang Li. She understood how intense the spar just now was. How Amon had used multiple deceptive moves just to land that one strike that tore the teacher’s clothes.
She stared at Amon. ’Looks like that kid is not just all talk,’ She thought. She clenched her fists. She wondered if she sparred with him, who would be the victor?
"What is my grade?" Amon asked. His swan dagger was now back on his left arm, hidden under the wrapping of the Xian Cloth again.
An Guan looked at Yong Baili, who seemed to ponder with closed eyes.
Yong Baili made a soft sigh. "A thousand points," He finally said.
Again, An Guan nodded in silence. He didn’t object.
The other students murmured after hearing that.
"A thousand points? That is the full mark for one sparring session!" One student exclaimed.
