Chapter 151: Chapter 151: Auntie Yao’s Hope
Moreover, he didn’t even know what he had done to her.
The pain was intensifying and Miss Lau found herself unable to even move.
"What did you do to me?" She asked, yet no one answered her question.
Lu Zhen walked past her and went to stand in front of assistant Yao’s mother to greet her.
"Hello auntie." He didn’t need any pleasantries, his presence also didn’t allow others to cross him even though he tried his best to suppress his aura in front of the elderly lady. After all, she was just like his mother, a kind elder.
Auntie Yao had seen Lu Zhen before, so she knew who he was.
"Lu Zhen, you are here. Come in and take a seat, I didn’t know that Yao would bring you back, otherwise I would have made more food. Come in and have some tea." Auntie Yao was enthusiastic when she saw Lu Zhen.
She respected this young man alot. He had vision and could prosper where others wouldn’t expect. She had always been glad that her son got to follow such a far-sighted young man. Her son had already told her that it was Lu Zhen who had advised him to buy many supplies and reinforce their apartment at home. A move that had proved to be useful since some people had taken advantage of the fact that there were only the two of them at home to try and break in to steal food.
Luckily the anti-theft door had prevented them from succeeding. Actually, it was not that auntie Yao didn’t understand that the world had changed, but that she was just too soft-hearted. She felt sorry for people easily even if they were just acting pitiful.
It was because of this trait of hers that assistant Yao had decided to take her out to see her son ’almost die’ when collecting supplies. If she witnessed such a scene, assistant Yao didn’t believe that she would continue to be as soft-hearted as before.
"Thank you auntie." Lu Zhen replied while following behind auntie Yao.
Lu Tao, who seemed to have been forgotten, followed behind the others and when he walked past Miss Lau he didn’t forget to taunt her.
"You overestimated yourself too much and invited death to your door. How can you think that my brother lacks a maid to cook and do laundry?" He deliberately misinterpreted her meaning and made it sound like she had not been offering herself as a woman but as a maid.
This made Miss Lau so angry that she almost vomited three liters of blood on the spot. It was a pity that her blood was burning up and had almost dried up already.
One had to say that Lu zhen had found a very clean way to kill people. Unlike zombies who just needed their brains to be destroyed to kill them, humans were different. They could be tortured for days and nights before dying, but Lu Zhen didn’t want to add to the population of zombies, thus, he decided that every human he killed had to be burnt to a crisp to avoid disaster.
The apartment was clean and looked no different from a normal household. In fact, apart from households that had already given up on themselves and survival, many families still looked the same way they did before the apocalypse.
Those who had suffered from this disaster and had their family members, friends, or neighbors turn into zombies were the ones feeling the reality of the apocalypse. But they could do nothing because this wasn’t a man-made disaster but a natural one.
Once they were seated, Auntie Yao busied herself to make tea and served the Lu brothers first before serving her son a cup as well.
"What brings you here in this situation?" Auntie Yao asked as she watched Lu Zhen drink his tea.
She liked Lu Zhen very much and hoped that even in this disaster called the end of the world, he could still lead her son. She knew that with his intelligence and resourcefulness, she would thrive in any environment. This way, her son would have protection and would not suffer.
It might sound selfish, but every mother hoped for a better future for their child no matter the circumstances. So, even in the apocalypse, she hoped that her son would lead a good life.
"Auntie, we have come to help Brother Yao move." Lu Tao jumped to answer the question on behalf of his brother.
"Young man, you look a lot like Lu Zhen, are you related?" Auntie Yao asked the question she had found it difficult to ask before because she didn’t want Lu Zhen to think she was intruding on his privacy.
Since the young man took the initiative to talk to her first, there was no need to be so uptight about it anymore.
"I am his younger brother." Lu Tao replied proudly.
Lu Zhen, hearing the pride in his younger brother’s voice turned to look at him and found him sporting a silly smile, his metaphorical tail wagging furiously while facing the sky. What was there to be proud of?
Even though that was what he thought, a ghostly smile appeared at the corner of his lips. He had come to realize that his brother acted differently when faced with different people. He could be very mature and composed in the face of strangers, a pampered young master in front of his relatives, and quite dependent when it came to him.
However, he didn’t hate the feeling of being needed by his younger brother. Thus, he felt the need to live up to the pride his brother had in him and protect him.
"So, you are Lu Zhen’s younger brother? No wonder you look so much alike. But what do you mean by you are here to help Yao move?" Auntie Yao really didn’t understand this, she hadn’t heard her son mention anything about moving before.
"Mom, we are moving to live in the same building as the boss. That way, I don’t have to worry so much when I leave you alone in the house to go look for supplies. Moreover, I can form a team with the boss." Assistant Yao explained to his mother immediately.
