Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?
Chapter 257 - 55: Slaying the Dragon Battle

Chapter 257: Chapter 55: Slaying the Dragon Battle

Section Nine, Act Two.

"We’ve finally made it this far." Aske said, his eyes brimming with tears.

It wasn’t just a line from the script, it was a true reflection of his inner thoughts.

Since the sixth section of the script, where Aske accepted Christina’s confession, the emotional entanglement between the three of them had noticeably increased.

Solomon led Christina by the hand for a walk up front, then had to go back to comfort the unhappy Miranda. Fluttering around the two of them like a butterfly, he was truly the scum of all scum.

Aske was too exhausted to complain. If he remembered correctly, the RPG role-playing instance must not have been this drama; otherwise, the players on the forum would have exploded long ago... Well, perhaps some male players enjoyed such harem scenarios in private, but openly everyone would surely still criticize it righteously.

Eleanor, however, was very calm; she took her role seriously and put in her full effort whether it was a combat scene or a love scene, without feeling any embarrassment.

Miel was not much different, except she put a lot of effort into the love scenes as if her emotions were genuine—her gaze always watery as if she might begin crying at any second.

Regardless, this awkward drama was finally coming to an end.

Looming in the valley ahead was the final boss of the entire play - the Giant Dragon that had snatched away the Imperial Divine Weapon, the Azure Blade.

There was no need to discuss strategies in advance, as everyone had read the script. Top Extraordinary Creatures like the Giant Dragon were impossible to defeat without cheating, and the script, or rather the fairy tale of the original work, clearly laid out how to cheat.

Eleanor charged into the valley first, with a Gravity Source Pearl embedded at the top of her magic wand, which they had acquired after defeating the Witch Demon boss in the seventh section.

Before the Giant Dragon’s golden colossal eyes could fixate on her, she thrust her wand into the ground, and the Source Pearl’s power flowed through the wand and enveloped the entire valley.

Supergravity Array.

This array could be seen as a domain woven from the Laws of the Meteor Sequence, affecting every creature within its realm with greatly amplified gravity. For armorless Transcendents, it might only make their movements more sluggish.

For a mammoth creature like the Giant Dragon, it was tantamount to stripping away its ability to soar into the high skies.

Sensing its body being bound by the sudden increase in gravity, the Giant Dragon immediately opened its massive mouth in fury, a surging energy gathering in its throat, emanating a threatening radiance that shook the heart.

Aske had already quickened his pace past Eleanor, raising his Shield to protect the two of them behind him — that was the Barrier Shield they acquired at the end of the sixth section after defeating the Giant King boss, capable of resisting the high-temperature Dragon Breath unleashed by the Giant Dragon.

The frenzied Flame Flow shot towards them, intercepted outside by the Barrier Shield, as fiery tendrils sped past the aforementioned trio’s surroundings.

After the Dragon Breath ceased, Miel was the first to dash out from the protection of the Shield, and while the Giant Dragon had yet to close its mouth, she fired a series of special bullets into its throat.

The Dragon Poison Bomb, crafted after defeating the boss in the eighth section, was a bullet specially designed for the Giant Dragon’s physiology; the toxin within would severely corrode the Dragon Scales, weakening the Giant Dragon’s resistance to both physical and spells.

Yes, this instance in Wilhelm’s story, or rather, the fairy tale of the original Azure Blade, is where the trio of protagonists defeated one boss after another, gathering all the equipment necessary to confront the final Giant Dragon boss — a classic RPG game trope.

After corroding the Giant Dragon’s defensive power, the creature was thoroughly reduced to a level they could handle, and so everyone quickly formed a triangular array to surround the Giant Dragon.

Eleanor habitually charged forward, Dragon Spear!

Her wand’s tip pierced the giant dragon’s snout, creating a wound on its decaying scales. Dragon blood splattered out, and with a mouthful of sharp dragon teeth, it lunged at Eleanor’s face.

Dragon Bite!

Eleanor leapt back like lightning, swung her wand in midair, and struck heavily on the giant dragon’s fangs, the recoil pushing her further back.

When the dragon failed to bite her, it quickly twisted its body, trying to extend its neck for a follow-up biting attack.

A series of bullets immediately hit its face—Miel used rapid-fire to momentarily suppress it, Aske already rushed to Eleanor’s side, swinging his shield violently.

Shield Strike!

A successful Shield Strike could stagger the opponent, provided there wasn’t too great a disparity in size. To the Giant Dragon, being hit by this shield was like being bumped by a flying insect.

However, Aske’s Shield Strike was not meant to cause damage but to briefly obscure the opponent’s vision. As he shifted sideways with his Shield lifted, the dragon only then noticed the intense flames behind him. It was too late to dodge.

Taking advantage of Aske’s cover, Eleanor hid and chanted for a full three seconds, conjuring a powerful spell—Fire Thunder Etching.

The super-heated plasma, filled with violent electrical radiance, smashed directly onto the giant dragon’s head, almost roasting it entirely.

"Jump!" Aske suddenly roared.

Everyone quickly leapt up, and as the giant dragon writhed in agony, its massive tail swept across the ground, just underneath everyone’s feet.

As they landed, Aske alerted them again: "Low!"

At his command, everyone still unsteady crouched immediately as a huge gust of wind flew over their heads— the Giant Dragon was crafty, quietly following a tail sweep with a Vibrating Wings attack. Had the two girls reacted even a bit slower, they would have been struck by the dragon’s wings and sent flying, coughing up blood.

Aske and Eleanor, still in a stooped position, charged forward together, their weapons aimed at the dragon’s belly where it was unprotected by its wings. With a clang, their simultaneous attack hit the same spot, shattering the scales on the surface.

Almost in the next second, the two rolled away to the left and right. The wounded giant dragon, despite its weight, forcefully flapped its wings, lifting its massive body a couple of meters into the air before crashing down hard, causing a violent earthquake and shockwave.

Aske and Eleanor quickly got up and jumped, narrowly avoiding the shockwave from the dragon’s landing. However, Miel was too late to jump and staggered from the trembling ground. Her firearms, though, didn’t stop firing, sending a series of bullets in skewed arcs straight into the wound on the giant dragon’s belly.

"You’re off," Aske said, reminding her, "But your aim is good."

Miel smiled embarrassingly; had her fall caused a miss, the risky belly wound they had managed to inflict would have been for naught.

After taking a series of Dragon Poison Bullets to a vital point, the giant dragon hurriedly rolled and turned its body, hiding the wounded side behind itself. It then twisted its long neck, opening its mouth once more.

Without needing a reminder from Aske, the two girls quickly darted behind him. Another fierce Dragon Breath blasted out, blocked dead by Aske’s shield, with the sheer residual heat nearly igniting their clothes.

Even before the Dragon Flame had cleared, a gigantic mouth descended again; the dragon, while maintaining its breath, stretched its neck and bit down hard towards the three.

The next second, Aske maintained his lifting posture, threw his shield forcefully into the giant dragon’s mouth—it lodged perfectly in its throat, blocking the Dragon Flame completely, causing the dragon’s entire neck to begin swelling.
