Chapter 210: Chapter 8: Reunion with "Team A
"Dragon Continuous Attack, why is it composed in the order of Dragon Spear, Cloud Piercing Triple, and Iron Cutting?" Eleanor asked.
"Because to form a combo, you need to reduce the vulnerabilities between connections," Aske explained calmly. "The Dragon Spear is a grabbing move that lifts the enemy up and then throws them. Some experienced enemies can adjust their posture in mid-air after being thrown, which means they can easily handle your subsequent attacks."
"So, the variation on the Dragon Spear is to smash downwards towards the ground, only withdrawing the spear tip at the last moment to prevent the enemy from rolling to adapt after being thrown."
"After bouncing off the ground, it is exactly when the enemy completely loses their sense of direction and balance. That’s the time to seize the opportunity and use multiple Cloud Piercings to inflict maximum damage."
"Usually, within three Cloud Piercings, it’s safe. If you increase it to four or five, there’s a chance you’ll be counterattacked."
"As for the final Iron Cutting, it’s a termination displacement technique that sends the enemy flying to prevent their counterattack."
"Oh, oh, oh." Eleanor memorized carefully, thinking that there was indeed so much for her to learn.
Unfortunately, she couldn’t thoroughly master "Song of Roland." Perhaps it was an opportunity to learn something else during this mutant incident to shift her mood.
The two left the town and rejoined the group, which had been waiting impatiently, and then they continued to enter the town to begin their sweep.
"There’s a bloody smell in the air." Medea sniffed, "I say, what exactly did you all do here?"
"We killed a monster," Aske said.
Four minutes later, they arrived at the body of the monster, only to see its torn and nearly half-rotten carcass revealing scattered green crystals inside.
"Wizard Stones," Aske picked up a fragment and tested it with Spirituality. "These are fragments of Wizard Stones."
"The birth of these monsters is due to infection by fragments of Wizard Stones?" Medea immediately had a rough guess, "Could it be that someone deliberately poisoned the town to create this mutant incident?"
"Unlikely. You see, such a small fragment..." Aske weighed it, smiled, and said, "It’s also worth about two hundred marks. The cost of poisoning would be too great."
"Maybe the perpetrator is a billionaire?" Mia said casually, then realized something and her eyes lit up, "Doesn’t that mean we can collect these fragments and sell them for money?!"
"Yes," Aske stood and looked into the distance, "It seems that in this mutant incident, the greatest danger still comes from the other Mercenary Groups..."
However, Mia didn’t listen to his reflection. She used the Ilanian Instant Step and quickly picked up all the fragments from the ground.
The group continued to move forward cautiously and soon saw the girls from Squad A resting not far away.
"Aske!" Seeing the people from Squad B coming over, Nora cried out in surprise.
"How did your fight go?" Aske asked.
"Not bad," Thira said nearby, "We killed three monsters and found fragments of Wizard Stones inside them."
She spread out her palm, which held a bunch of loose green stone grains. Aske took a look, then handed them to Medea:
"Take these and keep them safe."
Huh? Weren’t the spoils of war always managed by Nora? Medea was initially taken aback, then a strong sense of elation surged within her.
Aske had finally started to trust her! Of course, with her Mind Power, she was indeed the most trustworthy person in the team!
She happily stowed away her things and squinted at Nora. The girl, known for her gentle disposition, seemed to have no ulterior motives and merely smiled at Aske, which somehow irked Medea with an uncomfortable sensation.
"Looking at you all, it seems you didn’t get hurt even though the Squad Leader isn’t around," Medea stepped forward, blocking Nora’s view of Aske.
"We’re fine, although without the Squad Leader’s command, everyone was a bit out of sorts," Nora said with a smile, "Fortunately, our enemies this time were monsters with low intelligence."
"Right," Thira added, "when we were killing these monsters, we noticed a fleeting figure on the opposite corner of the street, but unfortunately, we let him get away."
"A figure?" Aske looked at Miel. If there had been an enemy in the distance, this Sniper should have seen them.
"About 1.7 meters tall, medium build, wearing a long robe and hood, looks like the attire of a Spellcaster," Miel described in detail, "He’s been standing across from us watching since the monsters appeared."
"Did you try to shoot?" Aske asked.
Miel shook her head: "By the time we killed the monsters, he had already turned and disappeared."
"Disappeared? How did he disappear?" Aske inquired.
"In a flash," Miel said, "Maybe his speed was too fast, I didn’t see how he disappeared, but it was in that direction."
She raised the barrel of her gun, pointing toward the center of the town.
"Should we explore in that direction, Aske?" Nora asked.
"That man might be related to this Mutant incident," Thira said thoughtfully, "I have a strong Intuition about it."
"Mm," Aske pondered for a while before responding, "It’s indeed worth clarifying. But we’re currently operating in split squads, so let’s do this: you Team A take charge of exploring in that direction, and we Team B will continue to sweep the nearby area, collecting the Wizard Stones inside these monsters."
"Eh? Squad Leader, aren’t you coming with us?" Sigrdrifa said in surprise.
"If we all go together, there’s no point in splitting up," Aske replied.
"But, the appearance of this mysterious figure suggests that this Mutant event might not have happened by chance," argued Thira. "If there is indeed a mastermind behind this, won’t operating separately make it easier for the enemy to defeat us?"
"That’s not necessarily the case," Aske said with a meaningful tone, "Reforming into one team could come with even greater risks."
With a sudden flourish of his Longsword, a cold light slashed down, and Thira hastily rolled backwards, narrowly dodging Aske’s horizontal slash.
"Aske! What are you doing?!" Thira, struggling to her feet, cried out in alarm.
The other girls were also shocked, hastily grabbing their weapons but uncertain about who to support.
"Not bad, dodging my attack?" Aske said with a smile, "The real ’Miss Thira’ would not have been able to do that."
"What are you talking about?" Thira exclaimed with an angry look, "You suspect I’m a fake?!"
"Aske!" Peggy, who had been resting nearby, also stood up in a flurry, hesitantly saying, "Could you be mistaken? Thira has been with us the whole time; it’s unlikely that she has been replaced by someone else!"
"Your acting isn’t bad either," Aske said, sword in his right hand while his left took off his Shield.
Eleanor quickly shifted with her shield to protect his rear, with Mia and Medea drawing closer to Eleanor—Team B almost immediately adopted an offensive formation, its Spearheads pointed directly at the five A Team girls whose identity was unknown.
