Chapter 172 - 76: North Wind Axe
Chapter 172: Chapter 76: North Wind Axe
When the Spartan warriors had left, the girls couldn’t hold back their expressions and burst into laughter all around.
"Squad Leader is over the moon about becoming a dad!" Mia was the first to shout.
"Hey! Which one of us do you guys think those Spartans would take for Hood’s mother?" Medea, never one to let things stay calm, asked with a giggle.
"It’s definitely Nora or Peggy, they both have black hair," Eleanor analyzed seriously. "Considering Peggy looks younger, it’s probably Nora."
"Stop it, you guys!" Nora’s face reddened like an apple as she called out in embarrassed anger.
"Is everyone too idle after the war ended?" Aske sighed. "Just in time, I’ve collected a batch of Dark Elf Extraordinary Traits that can provide nutrition to everyone."
"Let’s pair it with special training," he said with a smile.
"No way!" The girls immediately screamed in horror.

Inside Fire Island, the girls stood in a listless line, looking like lambs caught by a big bad wolf, their faces filled with resignation.
"Today’s special training is to engage in one-on-one combat practice with me," Aske, holding a wooden sword, said with a smile. "Of course, I’m not some demon. Anyone who can defeat me gets the day off from today’s special training."
The girls exchanged glances, thinking the promise sounded too good to be true. If they could really beat him, why would they fear the special training?
"Too difficult, you think?" Aske asked with a smile. "Then let’s set a different bar: whoever defeats Sigrdrifa in the morning gets to skip half a day of training; the same applies for the afternoon."
"Hold on! Why has it suddenly turned to me..." Sigrdrifa called out in panic, only to see the other girls turning towards her, their eyes gleaming with the hunger of wolves.
"Sigrdrifa," Eleanor said calmly, "we’ve been partners for a long time, let’s spar together today."
"I promise not to use the Undead Illusion Sword," Peggy said.
"Sigrdrifa, sister, I’ve been wanting to train with you for a while now!" Mia hugged her leg.
So Sigrdrifa screamed miserably as she was dragged away by several girls.
Aske watched them with a smile.
"Why suddenly choose to let Sigrdrifa be ganged up on?" Medea asked from the side. "Hmm, I don’t think your decision was made carelessly. Is there some deeper meaning?"
"Have you ever heard of Spartacus’s axe?" Aske didn’t directly answer but instead asked a question.
"What?" Medea was puzzled.
"Spartacus, an Ancient Solomon Thrace slave gladiator from the Third Epoch," Thira explained from the side. "He revolted due to dissatisfaction with the treatment of slaves, at one point leading an army of 100,000, later captured and killed in the Battle of Apulia."
"It’s said he once possessed a divine gift, a one-handed battle axe called ’Beryl’."
"Peggy, this word in Sirius language not only means ’North Wind,’ but also refers to the ’God of the North Wind.’ This deity hails from the distant north of Hyperborea, where the sun never sets, and the ice and snow never melt, and where ancient Hyperboreans with Giant’s bloodlines live. They have long lifespans and possess endless gold."
"To please the God of the North Wind, they found Polar Ice at the northernmost point. It is an Extraordinary Material that is many times harder than steel and almost impossible to be harvested by any tools. The Hyperboreans slaughtered dozens of Frost Giant tribes, softened the Polar Ice with boiling Giant’s blood, and eventually forged it into the shape of a Battle Axe, which is the ’North Wind Axe’ Boreas."
"The Hyperboreans offered the North Wind Axe to the God of the North Wind, who later made a dwelling in Thrace, and the battle axe was cast there by Him. As for how Spartacus came to possess it, no one is clear."
"This North Wind Axe—is it formidable?" Medea asked thoughtfully.
"It’s not a question of whether it’s formidable or not," Thira didn’t know how to explain, "It really is that kind of... Divine Artifact, beyond the scope of ordinary weapons."
"It is said that the North Wind Axe has two Extraordinary Traits: one is ’North Wind Freezes All,’ it can freeze the enemy in an instant upon hitting, making them unable to move."
"The second is ’North Wind Will Return.’ After being thrown and hitting the enemy, the North Wind Axe will automatically fly back to its owner’s hand; no one can comprehend the principle behind it."
"Hm," Medea pondered. Just the two traits Thira mentioned sounded like the inconceivable abilities that only Divine Artifacts would possess.
"Speaking of Divine Artifacts," Aske began, "the Divine Artifacts in this world can be divided into three categories."
"The first category, Epic Divine Artifacts. These artifacts tend to have immense power but also have high restrictions for their users. For instance, in the Sacred Heart Cathedral in West Francia, there resides a Long Spear called ’Holy Heart.’ It is said that only those with absolute justice can wield it, and if the user harbors even a slight evil thought, the spear becomes too hot to hold."
"The second category, Curse Artifacts. These artifacts possess troublesome abilities but also bear terrible negative effects. For example, the Shadow Blade used by Bruce to assassinate Caesar features the ability to launch attacks from the Shadow Realm, thereby ignoring all defenses and Extraordinary Abilities of the target."
"The price, however, is that once one possesses it, it will inevitably seduce the user to kill their loved ones, plunging them into a lifetime of regret and despair."
"The third category, Growth Artifacts. The power of these artifacts is directly related to the Level and Spirituality strength of the Transcendent. If held by ordinary people, they are just regular weapons."
"The North Wind Axe that Thira mentioned is such a Growth Artifact. Currently, most of the Divine Artifacts in the world are held and researched by the Solomon Church, while a few are in the hands of the Orthodox Church as Sealing items."
"And this North Wind Axe is one of the few Divine Artifacts that have not been discovered by the Church. Spartacus originally planned to lead the slaves across the Messina Strait, so he gave this weapon to the pirates as a deposit."
"However, the pirates were treacherous, and for their greed for the weapon, they did not provide ships. Instead, they fled across the Ionian Sea."
"When landing at Pylos Port on the Peloponnesian peninsula, it is said that the battle axe could not stand falling into the hands of vile men, so it took to the air with the sea wind and eventually landed on Taigetes Mountain."
"Thus, the originally scenic Taigetes Mountain instantly transformed into a snowy peak."
The girls nodded and marveled, thinking that our reason for coming to Sparta was originally to retrieve this weapon for Sigrdrifa.
But how did Aske know this? Never mind, although he is always mysterious, his prophecies have never been wrong...
"To pull out this axe, one must have at least the ’Frost’ and ’Giant’ Sequences. Spartacus originally had Hyperborean Bloodline and also possessed the ’Frost’ Sequence."
"I’m not sure if Sigrdrifa has the Giant’s Bloodline, but just in case, she must quickly ingest and assimilate ’Frost I’ and ’Giant I.’" Aske turned to Nora and Medea and instructed:
"Keep a close watch on her for me during this period, make sure she levels up to Lv.4!"
Nora and Medea responded, suddenly feeling an inexplicable sympathy for Sigrdrifa.
