Very good novel but a slow pace, I think most people who hate this novel give up in the first 100 chapters and don't ever get to experience how good the novel is. If you are one of those people please try it again, it's worth it.
If you are into xianxia this novel is a 10/10, if you aren't into xianxia the novel is still a solid 7 - 8 / 10 it hase so much to offer, def worth reading
PS: This is actually my first time writing a review — and I'm only doing it because this novel holds a special place in my heart.
Reverend Insanity is one of those novels that pushes readers to extremes — you’ll either love it or hate it. Honestly? I loved it.
The author has a very deliberate narrative style: each story arc starts slow, immersing you in the atmosphere and a sense of calm, almost like a cooldown after the dopamine rush of the previous climax. And those arc finales? Some of the best I’ve seen in years of reading webnovels. The payoff? Nothing short of spectacular.
At times, the pacing might seem to falter, but it’s all part of the structure. Let the author cook — you’ll be rewarded. Impressively, especially for a xianxia novel, it just keeps getting better.
The protagonist is the absolute highlight. He’s the ultimate villain — cold, cunning, ruthless, and deeply compelling. Easily the best MC I’ve come across in cultivation novels. And the supporting cast? Top-tier. Unlike most stories in the genre, the “old monsters” here aren’t just filler — they’re crafty, dangerous, and genuinely fascinating. No throwaway elders here; every character brings something to the table.💯
Absolute peak novel, its an immortal inheritance which cant be meaaured normally, every chapter and every character is used perfectly, only sad thing is the ban
Best webnovel oat honestly the main character and side characters are all very well written there barely anything bad i can say its very good give it a try
I’ve read a lot of webnovels some good, most average, and plenty that start strong but fall apart halfway. Reverend Insanity is different. It doesn’t follow the usual path, and honestly, that’s what makes it unforgettable.
The main character, Fang Yuan, is nothing like the typical MCs you see in xianxia. He’s not righteous, not out to save anyone, and doesn’t care about justice. He’s cold, smart, and brutally realistic. His only goal is to become immortal, live freely and he does it in the most calculated, ruthless way possible. No whining. No fake morals. Just pure, unwavering ambition.
What hooked me wasn’t just the MC, though. The worldbuilding is on another level. The Gu system (think magical insects with unique powers) is complex but makes total sense, and the way strategies play out is like reading a game of high stakes chess. The author clearly thought through everything, and it shows.
But here's the thing: this novel doesn't try to make you like Fang Yuan. It just shows you what someone can become when they stop caring about being "good" and start focusing on results.
If you're tired of bland cultivation stories or slow slice of life novels like Lord of the Mysteries, then Reverend Insanity is exactly what you need. It's raw, bold, and insanely well written. Just be warned this isn't a feel good story. It's brutal, raw, and unapologetically dark. It’s a 'RIDE' 😈🫴🏻👿🤌🏻.
The best mc in webnovel, really good side characters, the climax in each arc is really peak also, antagonist is kinda lacking tho (wisdom path great grandmaster got outsmarted left and right).
The foundation and philosophy of how the gu world works and it impacts on its culture inhabitant, state of mind, and thinking is really profound and deeply explored. Its not some complicated lore dump bullshit that doesnt really have any fundamentals and implications like some other webnovels. The power system has infinite potential, really interesting and creative, like u can literally make any path and insane killer moves if u have the necessary attainment of the path. But towards the end of the novel, like great grandmaster attainment and above, the author doesnt really explain like how one path can mimicks other path, etc.
One thing that really lacking from this webnovel tbh is the action part of the fight, not that bad but not that amazing. Sometimes its just bunch of flying buildings blasting energy wave into each other. But the mind games and intricacies behind the fights still are really good.
Also, the legend of renzu is goated.
Fang yayn! What a character, woah,Just what I needed , looking forward to more chp in the future , the plot twist and the arcs, man it make's me want to read again
10/10 read. It is so good and the world building is top teir. The characters have alot of depth and personality. The power system is unique and interesting. Overall a great read
First it's not complete I didn't even know that after reading it what can I say out of 100 people only 40 or 30 people may like Ri because it targets a specific audience and most people will not like the things done here that's the reason people like lotm more . But I will still give it a good review unlike some lotm fans who straight away give 1 star like chill bro atleast appreciate the author LOTM is my favourite too but still we should appreciate others work . My comment is RI is a extremely well written book for a specific audience still it's peak.
