Peak. The plot and world building are 10. I dont think i have to say anything about how well written fangy is. And if u find it boring just drop it RI isnt for everyone. 

Reverend Insanity is a work of cultivation in which we follow one of the most fascinating and complex characters in fiction, Fang Yuan. His contempt for mortality and his relentless pursuit of immortality are truly fascinating. His views and aspirations really make the reader feel uncomfortable or really stop to think that, amidst the insanity and coldness of the character Fang Yuan, he actually has some points in which he is right. Reverend Insanity is a work that really makes the reader dive headfirst into the philosophy and mentality of the characters in that world, presenting a complex plot with several criticisms and messages about human nature and society. I highly recommend it to anyone who can ignore the fact that the protagonist is extremely macabre and ruthless. If you can read this, you will undoubtedly have read one of the best works of your life 👍

This is a masterpiece. While it is a cultivation novel, it will ruin other cultivation novels for you when you read it. The power system, despite being incredibly simple and divided into 9 ranks only, is expanded and diversified by the presence of Gu. The expanded range of abilities later in immortal gu masters just makes it even better. It's amazing overall. The construction and worldbuilding of the world is also amazing. To go to Fang Yuan: he's brilliant. He's ruthless, callous, shameless, and completely immoral, but he's also terrifyingly intelligent and cautious. All this comes together to form a main character who is captivating, never knowing what scheme he will come up with next and what insane thing he will do in his quest. And through this story, it's never forgotten what his quest is: immortality, or death trying. Fang Yuan is almost a complete character from the beginning, but the relative lack of character growth or change is not a detriment to the story as that character growth is instead found in side characters like Fang Zheng or Feng Jin Huang, and never feels out of place nor confusing. Referring to the story as a whole: absolutely insane. Widely, it's a criticism and parody of the typical cultivation novel's tropes and stereotypes. It's also a story about perseverance, gruesome and grotesque murder, the true nature of humanity and the human self, and a man's journey to immortality. In fact, I could probably write an essay on the shockingly deep philosophical content in this novel, but it's better that one reads and understands it for themselves. Even when it's not weirdly philosophical or strangely moving, the story is amazing. At my peak reading speed, I was reading over 100 chapters per day. That is how good this is. It's not for everyone - you can probably tell whether or not you can stomach it by the end of book 1 - but if you can, you'll stick with it. Of course, if you've made it to the end of book 1, you'll also stay because of the endings of each of the books. They are, without question, Peak Fiction. Not one of the five book endings is any lower than a 10/10, and there are ones that I would rate somewhere around 50/10 or higher. It's that good. Reverend Insanity is, without question, the best cultivation novel I've ever read. It is also, without question, consistently a (at least decently) well translated novel. This shouldn't be your first Xianxia novel. It is, by large part, something that is made better by understanding common Xianxia tropes and systems. But when you get here, be ready. You'll be hooked.

Refine gu, refine human, refine heaven itself. I got chills man. No novel can top this. It had such a realistic vibe to it even though it was fantasy

I was a Neet when I read it and now years after, I've read dozens of the best novels , both chinese and normal and I have yet to find something that impacted as much as this novel did

The enemies in this novel are something else, everyone is shrewd, scheming, ruthless, everything is painted under dark shades of grey, there is no righteousness, no help me and I help you

In this novel, there is no friendship, no companionship, there is only Fang Yuan alone against the entire world trying to f*ck him over

Only something this extreme can give you the will to live!

Fang yuan is ruthless, torturing people, stealing, scheming, making others suffer, he is resolute, he doesn't back down nor does give up in despair

If someone suicidal came to me, all I would tell him was read this and see if you can die!

Fang Yuan has heart, he is also someone who was once weak, who lived through things and his poems elicit deep emotions in the readers making them understand him and love him despite all his cruel deeds that they do not agree with

10 outta 10. I swear to god, this will make your heart flinch, cry, break, and sweat. you will probably need a doctor while you read this because I KNOW you cant, and you will not sleep. This novel haunts you in your dreams. Your depression? Gone. The moment you wake up, your inner monologue would be "Fang yuan! that Madman!" You probably never read anything with such philosophy and way of life that you see yourself slowly admiring him

This novel gives you a reason why being a NEET, no job, without friends, and being rich is the greatest dream of all time. Reading this novel will make you work harder and try harder in life. Actually, you'll like the main character so much that if you think you're too lazy to do something, you'd be thinking "i challenge myself cause i aint no p*ssy" after reading this. Read this. Like right now.

This is easily one of the best webnovels of all time. Fang Yuan is my favorite protagonist ever and also this was my forst novel . He’s cold, calculated, and completely unrepentant—but he’s also insanely smart and philosophical in a way that just hits. His monologues are god-tier, and those poems? Absolute peak.

Great novel, reread for a second time. I think one of the reasons it resonates with people so much is because it explores the darkness and ruthlessness of humanity through the mc (and other characters too) which is normally avoided or lightly touched upon by other pieces of fiction. Aside from that we also get to see from other characters how things like kindness can also shine in this dark world. Characters with different motives and mindsets in contrast to the mc's. World building is fire too
