Chapter 906: Chapter 907: Did They Do It?

Lin Su’er looked at the leaders and said, "Mayor, our hospital’s medical resources are truly limited. These patients are no longer in critical condition. My suggestion is to transfer them to City First Hospital. For the severe cases, we will keep them here for treatment."

"Alright! We’ll make arrangements right away!" The mayor agreed decisively.

Deputy County Chief Cao’s wife insisted on transferring a patient and immediately added, "Then my father must be transferred as well."

Lin Su’er frowned and quickly said, "Doctor Song just explained that your father’s condition won’t deteriorate within the next hour. It’s already been twenty minutes. If you insist on transferring him now, it will definitely be extremely dangerous."

The woman stubbornly declared, "No! You refuse to treat my father properly. I can’t afford to wait any longer!"

Lin Su’er anxiously replied, "You’re gambling with your father’s life! Even if you manage to get him to City First Hospital within forty minutes, the doctors there won’t be able to match our hospital’s emergency treatment capabilities."

The woman scoffed in disbelief, "How is that possible? How could your Second Hospital have higher capabilities than City First Hospital? No way—I must transfer my father."

Lin Su’er was deeply worried. Although this woman was being unreasonable, it was understandable that anyone with a loved one in critical condition could lose their composure. After hesitating for a moment, she leaned toward the mayor and whispered, "The person primarily responsible for the treatment is Song Xiaodong. He is absolutely confident. This lady’s husband is Deputy County Chief Cao—please try to calm her down. Song Xiaodong wouldn’t be wrong. I’m afraid that if she persists in transferring the patient, it might lead to his death."

"It’s him?" The mayor widened his eyes in surprise.

"Yes! He’s an exceptionally skilled doctor—absolutely brilliant," Lin Su’er replied with certainty.

The mayor, aware that Lin Su’er was Mrs. Song Xiaodong and trusting her confidence, had no reason to doubt her. Furthermore, with the Patriarch of the Su Family present and vouching for the situation, the credibility was doubly assured.

Nodding, the mayor turned to the woman and said, "Allow me to clarify: while the Second Hospital might not have the same level of overall facilities as City First Hospital, it does have several top-tier physicians here, as well as two visiting foreign experts. In terms of emergency care, this hospital is currently slightly better. I suggest you reconsider transferring your father; doing so could delay his treatment."

With the mayor stepping in, the woman hesitated, pursing her lips. "Since the mayor says so, I won’t transfer him." Nevertheless, her heart remained filled with worry.

After a while, Song Xiaodong emerged, giving the leaders a slight nod before selecting two more patients to take inside for treatment—one of whom was the woman’s father.

The patients who had been brought out during the rotation showed noticeably more stable conditions, further reinforcing everyone’s confidence.

After over two hours of intensive effort, the emergency treatments were finally completed. When Song Xiaodong walked out, his face was full of exhaustion, and his steps were unsteady. Unlike his usual practice of pacing himself during treatments, this time, he had to constantly channel True Qi at full capacity. The extreme fatigue left him utterly drained.

"Mr. Song, you truly are a Divine Doctor!" The Party Secretary stepped forward, enthusiastically shaking Song Xiaodong’s hand.

Song Xiaodong gave a fatigued smile and said, "To all the leaders, I won’t be involved in the follow-up matters. I’m incredibly exhausted right now and need to rest."

"Of course, please rest, please rest," the leaders quickly assured him.

Lin Su’er supported Song Xiaodong and happened to see Lin Shu and Zhong Chuling lingering nearby. She hurriedly called out, "Xiao Shu, Xiao Ling, quickly take Dongzi home."

The two young women immediately came over and, flanking Song Xiaodong on either side, helped him out. They couldn’t help sneaking glances at the leaders before heading off together.

Both of them knew how skilled Song Xiaodong was as a doctor, but seeing him openly admit his fatigue and request rest in front of such high-ranking officials was impressive. Most people—even if they were utterly exhausted—would still be courteous in such situations. His bluntness seemed nothing short of fearless.

Once they got Song Xiaodong into the car, Zhong Chuling said, "I’ll go hail a cab."

Song Xiaodong replied, "No, it’s fine. I’m not *that* weak—just a little tired. Get in."

Only then did Zhong Chuling once again sit on Song Xiaodong’s lap, while Lin Shu closed the car door and started the engine.

"Xiao Shu, take it slow. I’m going to take a nap," Song Xiaodong said before closing his eyes.

Lin Shu responded in agreement and cautiously drove the car away.

Truly exhausted, it didn’t take Song Xiaodong even a minute to fall asleep after shutting his eyes.

Zhong Chuling turned to look at him, her heart aching. She wanted to find a way to ease the burden he carried but didn’t know how. Instead, she positioned herself as comfortably as possible, leaning gently against him to avoid disturbing his rest.

Lin Shu drove carefully and brought them safely back to the Su Family’s residence. However, to their surprise, none of the mistresses of the house were home—they had all gone out. The main villa wasn’t an option for them to enter, so they decided to take Song Xiaodong to the smaller villa they were currently staying in.

Song Xiaodong woke briefly when getting out of the car but, as soon as he fell onto the bed, immediately sank back into deep sleep.

The two women closed the bedroom door and stepped out. Zhong Chuling sighed, her voice full of concern. "Uncle really is completely worn out."

Lin Shu quickly agreed, "He really is. But wow, Uncle is amazing—even the mayor and the Party Secretary treat him with such respect."

Zhong Chuling nodded repeatedly. "Yeah, Uncle is truly incredible."

After exchanging a few admiring remarks, Lin Shu suddenly smirked mischievously and said, "Xiao Ling, you’re so naughty."

"Huh? What did I do?" Zhong Chuling looked at Lin Shu in surprise.

Lin Shu pouted and said, "Hmph, don’t pretend! What were you two doing earlier, huh? Do you think I wouldn’t notice? Sure, I was focused on driving, but the sounds you were making—there’s no way I didn’t hear them! You actually dared to... in the car with Uncle? That’s bold!"

"Ah..." Zhong Chuling’s face instantly turned bright red. She wanted to explain, but no words came out of her open mouth.

Lin Shu threw an arm around Zhong Chuling’s shoulder, grinning mischievously. "Spill it, Xiao Ling. Tell me what happened. Did you two... you know... go all the way?"

"What? Go all the way? What are you talking about?" Zhong Chuling stammered, flustered.

Lin Shu smirked wickedly. "Oh, don’t play dumb. Are we friends or not? Tell me—did Uncle *do it* with you? You know... have some fun?"

"No! No! Absolutely not!" For once, Zhong Chuling replied with firm conviction.

"No? Then what *was* going on earlier? You looked like you couldn’t take it anymore and were biting Uncle’s hand. Oh, and when you got out of the car, Uncle was... well, let’s just say he had a certain ’reaction’ going on. I saw everything."

At this point, Zhong Chuling wished the ground would swallow her whole. She had assumed Lin Shu hadn’t noticed anything, but it turned out she had caught it all.
