Return to the City: The Strongest King -
Chapter 780 - 781
Chapter 780: 781
"I’m saying, Yiyi, aren’t you afraid I might suddenly lose control and violate you?" Xiaodong couldn’t help but ask.
"Would it help if I were afraid? If you really wanted to violate me, being a weak woman, I’d have no strength to resist," Yiyi’s tone carried a hint of resentment and grievance.
"You, a weak woman..." Xiaodong cracked a smile. Yiyi could hold her ground in the Sun family; aside from a strong-willed grandmother, her own abilities were surely not low.
"At least in front of you, I am a weak woman," she replied.
Xiaodong asked again, "Alright then, you’re really not afraid?"
"What’s there to be afraid of? If you really did something to me, at worst I’d just become your wife. Being the wife of the Patriarch of the Su Family isn’t a disgrace," she said.
Xiaodong said with a bitter smile, "Why do I feel like you’re encouraging me here?"
Yiyi replied, "I am not, that’s just what you’re thinking. I’m merely stating a fact."
Xiaodong bit his tongue tip and said, "Alright, let’s sleep. We still don’t know if those little devils are going to hassle us, and who knows what might happen at night."
Yiyi didn’t speak. After a while, she found that Xiaodong’s heartbeat had slowly stabilized, and his breathing became longer and steadier. She turned her head to glance at him, only able to see his back. A peculiar light flashed in her eyes, then she turned back and closed her own.
Nothing happened that night, and the next morning, they were woken by the noise outside.
"Why are those little devils up so early? Won’t even let someone get a good sleep," Yiyi muttered and then nudged Xiaodong, whispering, "My legs are numb from you pressing on them."
When they first fell asleep, Xiaodong was lying on his back to Yiyi, but when sleeping, it’s tough to stay in one position, and naturally, they would adjust throughout the night. Plus, it was pretty cool in the rainforest at night, and by the time they woke up, they were facing each other, holding on to one another.
Xiaodong hurriedly moved his leg off Yiyi’s and said, "I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to." As he spoke, he tried to sit up.
"Don’t get up, waking up this early isn’t normal, right?" Yiyi pressed him down.
"Oh, right," Xiaodong said and then tried to turn back over.
"Stop moving around; it’s quite comfortable sleeping like this. I’ll take the loss and let you hold me a bit longer," Yiyi said and even snuggled a bit closer into Xiaodong’s embrace.
Xiaodong cleared his throat and said, "This isn’t quite right."
"What’s not right about it? I think it’s pretty good," Yiyi said with a content expression, her eyes closed.
Xiaodong grimaced. Early in the morning was when he felt most excited. Holding Yiyi, a beauty reminiscent of a vixen spirit, was a real torment for him.
If this were a few months back, Xiaodong would definitely have thrown caution to the wind and taken Yiyi there and then. But now, with a growing sense of family responsibility, even if Yiyi was bewitching, he dared not do anything to her. So, he could only regulate his breathing, restraining his desires.
Human desires are mankind’s greatest enemy—money and beauty are the most tempting things for a man, and to restrain these innate desires is indeed a strenuous task.
At this moment, Song Xiaodong was as if struggling with a powerful devil within himself, and it was an extremely arduous battle.
More than an hour later, the noisy commotion outside finally subsided. It seemed that the little devils had left, and Sun Yiyi finally got up to sit. Song Xiaodong let out a long sigh of relief, feeling an unprecedented exhaustion. Had it lasted any longer, he feared he would have lost control over himself.
Song Xiaodong also got up and crawled out of the tent to see the surrounding grassland littered with garbage. The little devils had indeed gone, leaving behind a damaged tent.
"These little devils are just too bad, leaving so much trash and damaging the environment," Sun Yiyi said with dissatisfaction.
At that moment, Song Xiaodong did not speak. Squinting his eyes, he stood there with an excited expression on his face.
"What’s wrong with you?" Sun Yiyi asked, looking puzzled at Song Xiaodong.
Suddenly, Song Xiaodong chuckled and said, "Thank you."
"Thank me?" Sun Yiyi was confused.
Again, Song Xiaodong burst into laughter and said, "I need to relieve myself," then he walked away with big strides.
He was indeed very excited now. The torment of that morning had unexpectedly benefited him. A person’s strength, aside from the cultivation of their physical abilities and True Qi, also includes another aspect: mental willpower.
The mental restraint experienced by Song Xiaodong that morning had turned out to be a significant test for his Mental Willpower, which he could feel had markedly improved.
This kind of improvement was mysterious. He couldn’t say exactly what had improved, but he knew very well that the stronger the Mental Willpower, the better it was for a person.
In a more straightforward sense, it meant the ability to unleash even greater human potential.
There are many reports of a woman, during an earthquake, lifting a heavy slab with her arms to protect her child beneath it. Under normal circumstances, even a strong individual like Song Xiaodong wouldn’t be able to lift such a heavy slab. This is an example of a person in a desperate situation triggering the potential within humans.
Human potential is boundless, a fact that modern science has been able to validate. However, there is still no fixed theory or method on how to truly unleash human potential.
There are also patients who, despite having the same illness and state of health, experience vastly different treatment outcomes depending on whether they have a strong will to live. These are practical examples of harnessing human potential through the power of mental willpower.
In battle, the confidence of assured victory is an important factor that can affect the outcome. A fighter’s mental state can also significantly influence their performance.
Now that Song Xiaodong’s Mental Willpower had improved, it was naturally of great benefit to him. Surely, this was an unexpected joy, and how could he not be happy?
Only a vixen spirit with the power to bring disaster upon a nation like Sun Yiyi could subject Song Xiaodong to such extreme torment. Ordinary women, even those beautiful women of similar stature in his own family, wouldn’t have had the same effect on him.
