Chapter 400 - 401: You’re Out of Your League

Chapter 400: Chapter 401: You’re Out of Your League

Song Yu’s appearance wasn’t bad, but she wouldn’t be called a beauty either. However, her commanding attitude really fell short compared to the beauties like Song Xiaoru.

The beauty of a beautiful woman lies not just in her appearance, but also in her temperament and cultivation. Song Xiaoru’s gentleness, Miao Qingqing’s dignified demeanor, Miao Xuanxuan’s youthful vivacity, and Xiao Yingying’s pure innocence—these qualities greatly enhance their looks.

However, this commanding demeanor significantly detracts from one’s appearance. If it weren’t for the sake of kinship, Song Xiaodong wouldn’t even bother interacting with such a woman.

"What do you want a tent for?" Song Xiaodong asked indifferently.

Song Yu, arm in arm with Ding Yuelin, lifted her chin and said, "I just think your tent looks nice, and I want to play in it."

Ding Yuelin casually pulled out a stack of cash from his pocket, with a demeaning attitude, and said, "Take this, it’s more than enough to buy your tent. We’ll play for a while and then give it back to you."

Seeing that Song Xiaodong didn’t take the money, Ding Yuelin frowned and said, "What, not enough? Here, take this too and go play somewhere else." He added another stack of cash and, with a flick of his hand, the money scattered onto the grass in front of Song Xiaodong.

As the two approached, Miao Xuanxuan and the others saw them. Miao Xuanxuan was the first to run over. Seeing Ding Yuelin commit such an insulting act, she immediately grew angry and shouted, "You think you’re so great with your little bit of money, flaunting it here? We brought this tent ourselves. I was keeping it for later use as if we’ve never seen money before?"

Song Yu’s face darkened, and she said, "Don’t be ungrateful, the young master is giving you face. Move along, and if there’s anything in the future, give us a call, and the young master might help you out. Otherwise, we won’t acknowledge you as relatives in the future."

Song Xiaodong cracked a smile and said, "Relatives? Do I know you? You’d better not try to claim kinship with us here."

"Claiming kinship? You’re really funny," Song Yu scoffed and said, "As if we need to claim kinship with you! If anyone should be claiming, it’s you people, huh!"

Song Xiaodong looked at Song Yu, then at Ding Yuelin, suddenly puffed up his chest, and said, "Claiming kinship with us? You’re not worthy!"

His words were boastful, but to Miao Xuanxuan’s ears, they felt extremely satisfying.

Song Yu’s face turned again and said, "You’re really arrogant, huh? Just a loser who’s never seen the world. Yuelin, let’s go. It’s useless to talk reason with these country bumpkins."

Ding Yuelin looked at Song Xiaodong, scoffed coldly, and said, "Good to know, Ding Yuelin will remember you. You’d better not fall into my hands later." Then he turned and walked away with Song Yu.

"What a joke, they act so arrogant just because they have some money and power, I have no idea where their confidence comes from," Miao Xuanxuan spat in disdain as they walked away.

At that moment, Ding Yuelin turned, sneered, and said, "You’ll soon find out where my confidence comes from. When the time comes, you’ll come forward to apologize to me, but I’ll make that guy kneel down to apologize."

"Keep dreaming," Miao Xuanxuan, full of fury, waved her fists at them.

Ding Yuelin then revealed a smile again and, along with Song Yu, got into the car and drove away.

Song Xiaoru furrowed her brow and said, "We’re all relatives, and besides, this is Second Uncle’s celebration. Dongzi, just stop arguing with them."

Song Xiaodong nodded and said, "I know. As long as they don’t cross the line, I can’t be bothered to haggle with them. It’s just some clueless kid from the Ding family."

"The Ding family? Oh, I remember now, isn’t that the Ding family that scammed you out of two billion?" Miao Qingqing also came over and gasped quietly.

Song Xiaodong chuckled and said, "Yeah, even their old man has to be polite when he sees me, calling me ’Sir.’ And that kid’s uncles have to behave themselves even more around me. If a little guy like him dares to be arrogant in front of me, it looks like I can swindle another lump sum from the Ding family."

Song Xiaoru gave Song Xiaodong a disapproving look and said, "You’re already so formidable, why stoop to his level? Wouldn’t that demean your stature?"

Song Xiaodong grinned, wrapping his arm around Song Xiaoru’s shoulder and said, "That’s my sister talking. Alright, alright, I won’t stoop to dealing with such younger generations."

Seeing that Song Xiaodong wasn’t really angry, Song Xiaoru also breathed a sigh of relief and said, "That’s good. I was worried you would cause trouble."

Song Xiaodong chuckled lightly and said, "We came here to have fun, all we want is happiness, no need to get tangled up with others over nonsense."

Miao Qingqing gave Song Xiaodong an approving smile and said, "Now that’s the spirit of a great leader."

After living with Song Xiaodong for a few days, she had grown increasingly comfortable in her role as his girlfriend. She truly had feelings for Song Xiaodong now, unlike before when she didn’t take his matters to heart.

"Oh, there are crickets chirping. I’ll catch a couple for you to play with." Suddenly, Song Xiaodong pointed to the grass ahead and tiptoed over, reaching into the bush, he had already caught something green that looked like a big grasshopper.

"Is this a cricket?" Xiao Yingying and Miao Xuanxuan crowded over.

Song Xiaodong nodded and said, "Xuanxuan, you hold on to it first. I’ll craft a couple of cages, then put the crickets in for you all to play with."

Song Xiaodong quickly finished crafting, Xiao Yingying, showing off her treasure, brought over a grass-made cage with a large green cricket inside. The cricket’s wings quivered, producing a pleasant sound.

Song Xiaoru smiled and said, "Dongzi is the best at this. When he was just five or six years old, he could catch crickets for me to play with. He was even better at fishing and catching shrimp, especially catching crayfish—he could catch a bunch in no time. I used to eat a lot of them when I was a kid."

"There are crayfish too? I want some, I want some!" Miao Xuanxuan immediately exclaimed excitedly.

Song Xiaoru laughed and said, "Then you’ll have to ask your Dongzi to catch some for you."

Miao Xuanxuan shoved the cricket cage into Miao Qingqing’s hands and said, "Here, this is for you." Then she jumped next to Song Xiaodong, grabbed his arm, and shook it vigorously, pleading, "Dongzi, can you take me to catch some crayfish, pretty please?"

Her voice was a bit coquettish, but it wasn’t annoying at all; instead, it was inexplicably comforting, especially the way her little hands gripped his arm, the softness of her palms was truly enjoyable.
