Chapter 588: Chapter 585: He Might Have Had an Accident

The boom had turned Ming Yao’s thoughts in her head into a complete blank.

Her ears were buzzing as if countless bees had flown into them.

Her heart was almost jumping from her chest to her throat.

Seas ablaze with fire.

Realizing something, she looked at the person in black driving the speedboat with pupils constricted, "Turn back!"

The man in black seemed not to hear her.

Ming Yao’s legs felt weak as she stood up; she kicked the man in black away and took control of the steering wheel with both hands.

Seeing the man in black trying to stand up to deal with her, Ming Yao swept her cold, sharp gaze towards him, "If you don’t want to be kicked into the sea, stay put!"

Ming Yao drove back towards the yacht at the fastest speed possible.

As she got close, she saw the scene there, her legs gave way, and she fell to the ground.

The yacht had been blown in half.

One half had already plunged deep into the sea, while the remaining half burnt fiercely with flames, radiating heat waves all around, like a volcanic eruption.

Ming Yao closed her eyes and then opened them, but the scene before her remained the same.

The color had drained entirely from her face.

The hands dangling by her side were white at the knuckles.

"Mommy, is that the yacht we were on before? How did it turn out like this?" Little Orange said with a puzzled face, unaware that her daddy was on the yacht.

Ming Yao couldn’t hear anyone else’s words anymore; she felt as if she had plunged into a deep, cold abyss.

Her chest contracted violently, her breathing was tight, and her whole body felt an endless cold and chill.

Eventually, unable to bear such a blow, she blacked out.

...

Opening her heavy eyelids, Ming Yao saw a snow-white ceiling, snow-white walls, and the faint scent of disinfectant at the tip of her nose.

Her temples were pulsing with pain, and her head hurt as if it was about to burst open.

Ming Yao’s vision was blurry, still not fully awake, when hot tears began to slide from the corners of her eyes.

"Senior Sister..."

Someone was calling her name.

Ming Yao closed her eyes and then opened them again, her vision became much clearer.

Seeing Jing Hang standing by the hospital bed, Ming Yao propped herself up and sat up from the bed.

Opening her mouth to speak, she found her throat was terribly sore.

The scene before she fainted surged into her mind: the yacht broken in two, the mushroom cloud soaring into the sky, the deafening sound of the explosion.

Gu Siting was still on the yacht; had he escaped danger?

Seeing Ming Yao trembling slightly, wanting to say something, yet unable to, Jing Hang quickly brought her a cup of warm water.

Looking at Ming Yao’s pale face, Jing Hang said with concern, "Senior Sister, don’t rush, drink some water first."

After Ming Yao took a couple of sips and the burning sensation in her throat eased a bit, she grabbed Jing Hang’s wrist and asked urgently, "Siting... how is he?"

The explosion on the yacht in international waters hadn’t been made public; very few people were aware of it.

But Jing Hang had many friends, one of whom worked at the Presidential Residence. He had learned from his friend that the Presidential Residence recently dispatched a large search and rescue team to look for Mr. President in the area where the incident occurred.

Ming Yao had been comatose for nearly three days, and there had been no progress in the search and rescue efforts from the Presidential Residence.

"Senior Sister..."

Ming Yao knew Jing Hang was a know-it-all. She tightened her grip on his wrist and said, "Jing Hang, don’t lie to me, tell me the truth."

Jing Hang sighed, his voice hoarse, "The Presidential Residence has sent out search and rescue teams to look for her, but it seems like there hasn’t been any progress these past few days."

Upon hearing Jing Hang’s words, Ming Yao let go of his hand and collapsed weakly onto the hospital bed, her fingertips unconsciously digging into her palm.

Her vision darkened for a moment, and for a few seconds, her mind was utterly silent.

Seeing how distressed Ming Yao was, Jing Hang said in a raspy voice, "Senior Sister, what exactly happened?"

Three days ago, someone sent him a message using Senior Sister’s phone, asking him to meet someone at the dock.

When he arrived, what he saw was his unconscious Senior Sister, Old Madam Ming with tears streaming down her face, and Little Orange who kept crying out for mommy.

Shortly after that, he heard that something major had happened at the Presidential Residence.

He wasn’t clear on the specifics.

Ming Yao’s face turned ashen as she revealed the evil deeds of Si Ye.

Jing Hang was shocked and astonished at her words.

Originally, Si Ye had been able to get onto Tang Sect’s island because Tang Sect had verified his identity.

There was nothing abnormal about Si Ye’s identity, and no one expected him to turn out to be a hidden major villain.

"That’s not right. He meticulously planned for over four years by your side just to go against Mr. President?"

Ming Yao clenched her teeth over her lip, her expression grave as she nodded.

While Ming Yao didn’t know the exact grudge between Si Ye and Gu Siting, after she, Little Orange, and her grandmother left on a speedboat, the yacht exploded, and it was clear Si Ye wanted Gu Siting dead.

Thinking of Gu Siting with his hands cuffed to the rail, unable to run even if he wanted to, a shiver of cold ran through Ming Yao.

With Gu Siting in trouble, some were anxious, and others were overjoyed.

Especially Ji Shoucheng.

He thought he would never have a chance at a comeback until he suddenly learned about the mishap with Gu Siting.

He rushed to the Presidential Residence and approached Old Lady Gong.

"Aunt, Gu Siting has been blown up, let me manage Gong Pavilion from now on! Also, that Song Hu, execute him as soon as possible so I can appoint someone to take his position!" Ji Shoucheng said.

Seeing Ji Shoucheng so eager to divide the power the moment Gu Siting was in trouble, Old Lady Gong did not look pleased, "You are oversimplifying things. Even if Siting is currently missing, presumed dead, the power in his hands cannot be so easily taken."

"Vice President Yu Zheng was handpicked and promoted by him. In Siting’s absence, Yu Zheng can handle all matters, and the people at Gong Pavilion will only listen to Yu Zheng."

Ji Shoucheng clenched his fist, veins bulging on the back of his hand, "Aunt, Yu Zheng is an outsider. Aren’t you afraid that he’ll seize the power for himself now that Gong Siting is gone?"

"He won’t be able to take it. He’s monitored by the Cabinet elders behind him. Siting is a man who anticipated everything. You don’t have to worry about his power being usurped by others. He’s very shrewd!"

"Aunt, with such a great opportunity at hand, do you mean to say, we do nothing?" Ji Shoucheng inquired.

Old Lady Gong waved her hand dismissively, "Regardless, Siting is a capable Person in Charge. I don’t hope for any misfortune to befall him. Right now, the priority is to find him!"

Ji Shoucheng’s expression darkened as he left.

He would give the Presidential Residence a little more time. If Gong Siting was not found soon, he would go public with the news to the media!

The Presidential Residence no longer had a suitable heir. In that case, they would have to adopt a son from their Ji Family!

Thinking of this possibility, the corners of Ji Shoucheng’s mouth couldn’t help but curl up into a smug smile!
