Chapter 202: Chapter202-Puppet
Everyone treated Daniel’s invitation with utmost seriousness.
After all, this was the critical moment of the Millennium Apocalypse. A meeting held at such a time could only mean that something of grave importance was about to be discussed. It was even possible that this meeting would shift the balance of power across the entire world.
By now, everyone was beginning to realize that after this meeting, Daniel might very well become the de facto leader of the world.
The Human Emperor glanced at his communicator and couldn’t help but mutter to himself, "Daniel... are you finally making your move?"
He had long known that this day would come. It was inevitable.
But now that the day had actually arrived, he still found it a little hard to adjust emotionally. After all, it had only been two days since Daniel completed the Awakening Ceremony.
Yet those two days had felt like two hundred years!
After pushing these thoughts aside, the Human Emperor opened his contacts list.
In his friends list were many of the most powerful awakeners among the humans. But if he had to choose one representative to attend the council, it would be Martin.
Martin was not only the Pope of the Church, but also a mighty awakener.
In addition to Martin, the Human Emperor decided to call upon Pantheon from the Warrior Guild as well.
...
Within the Orc Clan’s territory,
Ally had her eyes closed as she prayed devoutly to her god.
After a few moments, she began to mutter under her breath.
"I understand your will now, great Moon Goddess Luna. I shall follow it faithfully."
She opened her eyes again. At that moment, she noticed a flood of messages on her communicator.
The senders were none other than fellow god devotees—believers deeply connected to their divine patrons.
...
As Ally scrolled through the messages, a sudden realization struck her.
Under the pressure of the Millennium Apocalypse, many of the god devotees who normally concealed their identities had finally chosen to reveal themselves.
The Apocalypse was upon them, and it was now time for the god devotees to walk openly in the world.
...
In the demon lands,
The newly appointed Emperor of Demons was in the midst of launching an attack on the Seed of Chaos when he received Daniel’s message.
Daniel was actually inviting him to the meeting?
It seemed the demon clan might have a chance to escape disaster this time.
Whether they could survive the Millennium Apocalypse... it all hinged on Daniel.
...
In a humble wooden cabin, Alice sat quietly.
Beside her was the Elven Queen, toying with her communicator.
If anyone else had been present, they would have been absolutely dumbfounded—perhaps even unable to shut their gaping mouths.
Because no one could have imagined that the lofty Elven Queen would share such a close and casual relationship with someone like Alice.
"Alice, I assume you received Daniel’s invitation as well?"
"Yes," Alice replied. "I did. And I have a strong feeling this meeting won’t be a simple one."
The Elven Queen nodded, a deep and thoughtful expression appearing on her face.
"May the great Crossbridge bless our elven kin... and this world."
...
Meanwhile, in the Blood Clan’s territory,
Charlotte glanced at her communicator and immediately wore a pout of irritation.
"So annoying!"
"Can’t I just get a little rest?"
...
At the same time,
In a hidden location known to few,
One of Daniel’s clones stood, his expression somewhere between a smirk and a sneer, gazing at a demon before him.
This demon had already reached max level, yet even so, he trembled visibly under Daniel’s gaze.
"Lord Daniel... isn’t this a bit... extreme?" the demon asked hesitantly.
Daniel’s voice was cold and emotionless as he cast a glance at him. "There’s no need for you to think so much. Just do as I’ve instructed."
"But, Your Highness," the demon protested, "this kind of transformation causes severe damage to the body. Can we at least discuss the terms a bit?"
"There’s nothing to discuss. I’m fully aware of the risks. Just follow the plan."
Hearing Daniel’s flat response, the demon nodded slowly.
"In that case, I shall follow your will."
After speaking, he opened his spatial backpack and pulled out a uniquely shaped dagger.
This dagger radiated a bizarre aura—somehow carrying both light and dark energies at once.
The demon held the dagger in a trembling hand.
"There’s no need to fear. Just proceed," Daniel instructed coolly.
Clenching his jaw, a flicker of ruthlessness flashed through the demon’s eyes. Without hesitation, he brought the dagger crashing down toward Daniel’s head!
This demon possessed an incredibly rare talent—the ability to turn living beings into puppets.
These puppets retained their life and consciousness, but their bodies were entirely subject to their master’s will.
Ordinarily, such a talent would be considered utterly vile and unforgivable.
Most awakeners would call for the immediate execution of anyone using such skills—it was seen as a form of slavery of the highest order.
But Daniel had approached him with a very specific purpose in mind.
He wanted this demon to turn a portion of his clones into puppets—ones that Daniel himself would control.
The reason behind this was simple: he planned to venture into the Undead Lands.
The upgraded version of Grand Resurrection was so tempting that just thinking about it could make one’s mouth water.
However, Daniel had never had the materials required to fully synthesize Grand Resurrection.
While a maxed-out Minor Resurrection could mimic its effects in some scenarios, only the true Grand Resurrection—fully enhanced—had the potential to bring back the entire gnome race.
This was currently Daniel’s only hope.
Ever since discovering the existence of the Undead Lands, Daniel had dispatched numerous clones to scout every inch of intelligence surrounding it.
And what he eventually discovered stunned him—the Undead Lands existed within an isolated, independent dimension.
This led to a crucial problem: if Daniel were to enter that space, his clones in the outside world would lose connection and become inert.
If a crisis were to arise among the myriad races during that time, he would need to return instantly.
To reduce this risk, Daniel decided to have his clone bodies turned into powerful puppets.
Naturally, the demon was thrilled by this task.
Even though crafting such puppets would be immensely difficult and time-consuming, the demon had an obsession with puppet-making that defied understanding.
Especially when the puppet material was a clone of someone like Daniel—his excitement was off the charts.
In just one hour, the demon had successfully crafted six puppets.
Daniel tested his control over them and found it to be as smooth and seamless as before.
Then, he severed his direct control. The puppets stood motionless in place, like statues awaiting activation.
Without wasting any more time, Daniel issued his orders.
"Explore the unknown regions of this world and protect the races that inhabit it."
"Respond to the Millennium Apocalypse with all your strength. If the Human Emperor sends any urgent reports, relay them to me immediately."
...
With each command issued, the puppets acknowledged silently.
Then, as if on cue, they activated the [Flashback] ability and vanished one after another—rushing toward their designated missions.
